I guess that many wait to log until there are more poeple they know. But that way it never gets filled of course.

(logged a time, first time since that counter runs)

Thx ellesar,
Anyway, it's better if you let it be, it's too late anyway.

On the other side, I heard some older players (Raven,Talon, maybe others) logged past days. That's not bad at all, I'll log myself too time to time fom now on. Or at least keep an eye on the server. Just, I wish them to play a bit more nwn and GodSpire, but I stay away from GodSpire myself. Isn't logical ;)

I doubt if anyone exept you is interested to continue a little flame war about it.

Exactly!! I don't want to continue any flame war.

SO WHY IN THE NAME OF HOLINESS DID YOU POST:

Quote
I think a few poeple did a nice job blowing up the rest of a good server, without themself realizing it.

You're just so rude and condesending it's sickening.  I doubt it's your fault, cause you're posting in a language that is quite foreign to you.  So how about you exercise some common sense and just keep your mouth closed, cause you're bound to offend someone everytime you speak.

GAH!!

It's funny to see how you try to pick things out of my posts (even posts that are months older), in search for something to show evryone why you were so right to kick me out. And as you know, I had, have and will have critique on how you run GodSpire. But you simple don't get that I'm not attacking you or whatever, I'm just saying where I think something is wrong.

Could you forget a second, that you kicked me when you see me, and think of something constructive, to post, or to do on GodSpire. This thread is the communety (what is left of it) saying something is wrong, it's not about the problems between me and you. I doubt if anyone exept you is interested to continue a little flame war about it.

Good points of the old server were it technical parts (as well scripting as hardware/software), the amount of newbies that rejoined and kept playing on the server, just the amount of players, and that the server was simple.
To play it boiled down to:
-don't random, stay nice (common sense)
-500k limit - no resist - no immumes (you can use the generic stuff if you don't get it)
-run into the first big and only door you see, and you're where you want to be, and want to stay.

And if you ask me what happend to the old GodSpire... Talon stopped hosting, and I think a few poeple did a nice job blowing up the rest of a good server, without themself realizing it. Changing back, to match the old GodSpire, stopping with changing it all the time, and giving new players (newbies) a warm welcome, is probably what can keep GodSpire from dieing.

Quote
On another note: When Talon came in the other day, he mentioned that he was the one who created "Xen's Portable Stool". Mo, Xen, if this is true, I ask you to change it. It's slightly disrespectful to leave it as "Xen's Portable Stool" if it should be "Talon's Portable Stool."

Anyway, nice post (Hell's too), and I'm happy to see Talon isn't completly death ;)
Sigh, I miss a lot of the old players. Anyone saw Raven? Or Ludo...
I bet Cab still doesn't knows where his nwn-cd's are.

You made a build that did 900 (not a crit) with smite evil a half year ago. I'm not 100% sure it was you, but I think so. Add 4x from the crit to that, gives a nice 3600. That 2406 seems perfectly possible to me, it's only a 601 smite.

But well, catching that in a screen, not bad :)

I just wonder why someone needs to say "they are all noobs", in this context. For the rest I agree that most players there aren't as good with fighting as most of the GodSpire players. But they don't do anything wrong with that.

They complain about their own server as well, and more than about GodSpire. Both the ante server and GodSpire have their problems. It's actually funny to see poeple in this thread complaining about some poeple complaining in the ante threads, and defending themself with things like this:
Quote
lol, they're all noobs anyway.

even their sents

Always knew I was a noob.... Why you need a stupid arguments to ignore them anyway?
Quote
empty servers getting there ass pounded by what they call, `A power hungry crappy dm'ed server''  I laugh at them.

Actually, the ante server is growing. In my opinion it is one of the reazons of their current problems. I doubt if they are that much smaller than the current GodSpire. (if they are smaller)

And by the way:
Quote
In the beginning of our server I really think we could truly say it was a better place to be than GodSpire. But that was at the beginning...
Comes out one of the threads that are the topic of this thread here. The "prick Gwyd" to say it with James words, knows that his server has simular problems like GodSpire. And I didn't see recent complains there, if you read the more recent post there you rather see things about the ante <-> GodSpire relation (the portals and so) and their own problems.

But I wouldn't like to see anything between the ante server and GodSpire, it's not like it went well between GodSpire and Cm.

DoS = Denial-of-service, it's a methode to attack a computer running a service. (but well, there isn't any attack at all) Anyway, those ip's hardly can be of a nwclient connecting to your server, it are ip's that belong to your provider (just like your ip does). It are ip's from poeple useing the same way to connect to the net as you (Cable). So the problem is something else. (or did you only expect a load of poeple useing the same cable as you to connect to nwserver?)

About NAT, if you share your connection between more than 1 computer. Don't disable it, NAT is what makes your router a router :P. If you disable it you'll get the same effect as with DMZ, exept, only 1 computer connected at the router can have net at a time. You can try to disable NAT and connect then useing your WAN ip adress (default gateway ip). NAT is also the reazon why you have to forward ports to serve.

And other thing you can check, is if the server is really running 1.66. Just had someone that *couldn't* host because the server was 1.65. (if you can't direct connect useing 127.0.0.1 as ip if you play and host on the same box, then that may be the case, otherwise it definitely isn't)

NwN General / NWN Ports
« on: June 25, 2005, 02:00:31 AM »
I don't have a good experience with that belkin router, that stands in the faq. But well, I don't like hardware routers with too much functions on them. My "stupid" nat router, only has to forward 5121 to have nwserver working normally, including posting the game on gamespy. Anyway, if you have a belkin router (maybe on others too), look for an option "Filter Internet NAT Redirection" and disable it, if your router has that option and if it's enabled, it may cause problems if you host something.

If you forwarded all the ports correctly, and it doesn't works. Then check on your server, if it's firewall isn't blocking it. (disable it completly and try to connect then, if that works it's the firewall) WinXP SP2 has a building firewall too, don't forget that one if you have WinXP SP2.

If you still think it's the router, most include an option to forward evry connection made to 1 host, like if the computer was directly connected. My router calls it DMZ.
Quote
A DMZ (DeMilitarized Zone) Host is a host without firewall protection. It allows a computer to be exposed to unrestricted 2-way communication for Internet games, video conferencing, Internet telephony, and other special applications. This function is typically used to allow a web server, FTP server, etc to be accessible to users on the Internet.
But your server may as well call it something else.

Used 10 time "if" in this post :P (ok, now 11)

The linux client never needed the CD in the drive. And withing days poeple had cracked the cd protection for the windows version, each new patch. I guess they found it pointless to keep the protection. So, you do have 3 CDs to fling off on your weedwacker.

Buying a good book is one of the best things you can do. It's a must have when you learn your first programming langue. They often include some usefull software too. C++ isn't easy to start with. But knowledge on C++ will help you a lot with other langues. It also works on many operating systems.

Then you have to cast a badger, and then vampire touch. Good change to fail if the other dispels you. (something a mage does in a duel, isn't it?) With that cast time you could aswell cast a mantle or dispel/attack your opponent.

On the other hand, this shows why it's usefull to have dispels, and not only spellbreach. The spell vampire touch just allowed a few extra tactics in a mage duel, that are in no way lame. If you start a mage duel, you perfectly can prepare to face tactics with vampire touch.

Actually, I would find it funny to see someone leeching on his own badger. (and probably killing it as well)

Php isn't working 100% like it should on this server.

Other words, it makes some errors time to time. That appear to happen at random. One time the page isn't loading at all, or it returns a php error, or it executes an invalid sql query, or something else. Really saw some interesting, and weird, errors in here.

That's probably what happend. Php being unstable.

Suggestion, for Mo:
If you give a string, that doesn't exist, to the view player box in the godspire playing times. Then you get a runtime error. Noting critical (as far I know), just doesn't looks clean. Saying something like, the player name doesn't exist in the server logs, looks better. Avoiding errors is always a good thing after all.
Quote
Server Error in '/godspire' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Vampire touch, is hard to cast,
you need to be close to your opponent, and you lose time because you have to cast it, and it still has to succeed then (touch attack isn't a sure hit, and the other can have a mantle). Healing, on the other side, is very easy to cast, and gives a lot of permanent hp.

For me it clear why vampire touch is allowed, and heal not. It requires way more skill to use vampire touch in a efficient way.

Options enough:[ol type=\'i\'][li]If you have an iso of the hotu cd, you can try this emulator (it's free, and works for me)

Or an other emulator program.
[/li][li]Or, search the net for the crack. You rather will find a crack than a full iso of hotu. Not to mention the fat download. In case you can't fin one yourself, you can try thise one:

(flat 2x20pins connector, probably blue) If your two drive stop working at once (probably on the same cable), it's nearly 100% sure the connector on the mainboard that doesn't connects well.
