Terms of the War
« on: September 04, 2004, 02:05:02 AM »
Despite an alarming lack of string, I've scheduled a meeting  to discuss war terms
for tomorrow at (depending on your time zone):
3:30 PM PST (GMT-8)
5:30 PM CST (GMT-6)
6:30 PM EST(GMT-5)
11:30 PM (uh... GMT)
9:30 AM  BBS (GMT+12) (uh, bus's bed time?!) (so that's like the 5th or something?!)

Okay so the time zone thing isn't my forte. Let's put it this way: I'll be there to hash out terms at 3:30 my time. Terms will be posted as soon as possible. If some crazy Wingil (or BzK) cements your clan to weird promises, guess what? They stick!

Hydros,

This thread concerns only the war between Doriath and the Mauraders if it wasn't clear in the original post. As far as I know, you are not in either of those clans.

The times were decided by Adisku (of Doriath), Bus (of the Mauraders) and Throbblefoot (of my wife), so I would be careful about where you are pointing your "@#@% you."s.

Big thanks to the clan representatives for making this go so
smooothly!

Also, if Doriath is a war zone then the bear house is a war zone
"In an age of nothing, at a time when we stand at the brink of our own destruction-strengthen your belief in yourself, in the future of humanity, in things of this world which cannot easily be percieved. Awaken that which lies dormant now within your soul. Re-ignite the flame of your consciousness, and measure the strength of your conviction. Reveal the lie. Renounce your hatred. Seek, find, and embrace the truths you are fortunate enough to discover. Cherish them, use them to anchor you in the sea of chaos that is the world we live in. When twilight draws near, when you are pushed to the very limits of your soul, when it seams that all you have left are the dead remains of the fabric of your life-BELIEVE"

7th, no one ever said the House of the Bear was not a war zone, I have seen plenty of screenshots of Doriath laying waste to the HotB. Looks like a war zone to me, however, the clan battles will take place in the multi-player arena!

Hydros, if your clan chooses to side with Doriath that's fine, but keep in mind that the war is still between Doriath and the Mauraders. If you have a problem with the times of the meetings or the clan battles take it up with the King of Doriath, he is the one who is agreeing on these times.

Same goes for anyone in Doriath, the Mauraders or any of the allied clans. If you have a problem with any of the terms take it up with the High Elves or the Mauraders Council (depending on your clan affiliation).

Hydros,

If you don't stop spreading misinformation about this war, you won't be allowed to participate.

The time was CHOSEN by Adisku. As I understand it, he's King of Doriath. So if the other elves have a problem with the time, they need to talk it over with their king.

And as I had to say more than once in the negotiations "Doriath, come to consensus and tell us where you stand."

guys, GUYS! I was told the number was 3 vs 3, which wasn't believeable, but then I was told infinite vs infinite which also is cucu bing bang not doable. How many will be attending the war on each side?

Also the rez your team mate before they respawn rule, uhm I think that's dumb, just take out the auto rez. Would kinda mean 1 person would have to hide while looking at the others fighting just to be rdy for a rez.

1. Good strategy.
2. Attendance is open, but if the sides seems totally unmatched, the refs may need to hold some sort of pre-battle conference to figure it out a clever way to make the durned thing last more than 30 seconds.

I thought, "Oh, good, a volunteer" when I saw this:

So to clarify, I'm looking for Sents/ DMs who aren't clan-affiliated and (preferably) haven't declared an allegiance. Lance, I'm pretty sure we will need your help, though. I think I can only name 4 other people who fit the bill.

Few suggestions from me:

- Hellball should be allowed but must be cast during the first round (6 seconds) of battle! (hee hee)

- Don't forget the catapults in the Multiplayer arena, they shoot magic missles at anyone not in your party. Each side has 3 catapults in their starting area, defensive casters/resurecters should probably camp out there. Catapults can be fired once a round (every 6 seconds) note there is a 50% chance the catapult will fail to fire.

- I will make sylish black and white refree uniforms so refs are easy to spot.

- Remember everyone, many standard dueling spells will be much more effective in team duels while others will be far less effective.

- Consider making Team uniforms of a bright color to help distinguish teams. (Alternatly Talon could script a way to attach a color flag to your back based on the clan tag in your name)

This is the first time we have done something like this so feel free to submit suggestions and opinions.

It's "last man (or woman) standing".

If you die and your team does not resurect you, you will be dazed (by a referee) after the auto-respawn. That way you can watch the rest of the battle but not interfere, you also can't be harmed by other players when "sent dazed".

When everyone on a team has been dazed (ie everyone on the team has died without being resurected) that team loses the battle and the winning team gets to pick the day/time of the next battle.

The clan that wins 3 out of 5 battles wins the war.

It is my understanding that monks with "Perfect Self" can't be dazed. If anyone is dumb enough to use a high level monk they will be frozen instead of dazed right after they die really, REALLY quickly.

The winners win our respect and the losers win our everlasting contempt and the stigma of knowing they lost a war against another clan.

Basically, the random attacks on Doriath and the House of the Bear should cease when a clear winner is finally declared. At least until the next time a clan declares war.

First of all, this would be a great opening to a really geeky joke.

Second, one cannot simply walk into the arena.  One must be zapped to the arena by one of your lovely and talented DMs.
