I was wondering about this. The nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ on Throbble's computer takes up a single PCI-e slot but it requires two spaces on the back (one where you plug the monitor in and one that's just an extra vent.) My new card is like that too. Do new motherboards with multiple PCI-e slots take this extra needed space into consideration for SLI? (That's when you link two cards together right? I haven't done that since the 3DFX Mega Monster.)

Ugh, this is what I get for not building my own computer in the last 6 years.

Ya they do.  You should be able to fit two such cards on most motherboards.

Ya, they tend to be:

Quote
_________ (PCI-e)

_______(PCI)
_________ (PCI-e)

_________ (PCI-e)

_________ (PCI-e) <-optional if it supports 4-way SLI

But I would HIGHLY recommend NOT using the PCI slot..because it slightly blocks the Vid-card's intake fan PLUS...heat rises and even a soundcard will give off some heat; promptly sucked up by the vid-card :P

Besides, in this day in age onboard sound is 95% on par with dedicated sound cards. About the only time onboard would fail is:

a) unsupported chipset (aka old-mobo)
b) you work with sound...like editing or something for a record label

Other than those times; enjoy the full 7.1 :D

Sound Blaster drivers don't recognize on-board SB chipsets. Fucking fascists.

Um, okay? Don't know why this has to do with getting a new mobo; unless miss-assumed your intentions when asking if new mobos take into account double wide vid-cards when laying out pci/-e slots.

You're the one who brought up the subject of "onboard sound" I was simply stating my opinion on that particular subject.

Okay...then "SB" meant "Sound Board" and not "South Bridge" XD

In that case, why would you use Creative Drivers on a Realtek chipset???

I still have a PCI Sound Blaster as when I built my last computer I found the quality of the on-board sound lacking to say the least.  Maybe the quality of on-board sound has improved recently.

So this statement was released by Splash Damage on May 13th:
Brink Updates Live, Free DLC Coming
Quote
To show our appreciation for your support of Brink, we will be making the first DLC for Brink available for free when it is released.

Then on June 24th they released this statement:
Update on Brink DLC, Title Updates, and New Screenshots
Quote
To clear up any potential confusion, you will be able to download the Agents of Change DLC pack for free for two weeks after it's released. If you grab it during that time, you'll permanently own the content and are able to re-download it in the future at no charge.

Uh... yeah. So if anyone wants the free DLC (slated for release sometime in July) you should buy Brink now because they will start charging for the "free" DLC after two weeks. I hear Best Buy has it on sale just a month after release!

I wasn't planning on making another character but it turns out that there are a few weapons and many weapon mods that must be unlocked by completing certain "challenges". (These are solo missions meant to aggravate the shit out of people who bought a team-based multiplayer game.)

I had completed most of the challenges (4 challenges at 2 difficulty levels each to unlock everything) but I found out that they are much easier if you try them with a level 0 character as opposed to a level 20. So Throbble and I both made new characters and whenever they got enough experience doing one of the challenges to level we would just respec them which decreases their level by 1 (hilarious) and do the next challenge. Now we have all the weapons/mods unlocked!

Anyway, check out his look on the Brink Character Pics thread.
