Return to Sigil!
« on: July 14, 2006, 02:45:09 PM »
Alright, I've started an insane project (which I believe is due to a severe head cold) using the new CODI content together with the CODI Sigil Tileset to recreate a small, isolated section of Sigil, the City of Doors.

For those of you familiar with the game Planescape: Torment, this mod will be a chance to revisit the Cage, if only a tiny portion of it. For those of you new to Planescape it will be a quick introduction to the city that is the main focus of the Planescape Campaign Setting.

Where
Channel: Role Play
Server: ThrobbleServ
Module: Sigil the City of Doors

When
August, 4-6

How
Direct Connect: 71.139.198.28:5121

Friends List: Look for "420" in your friends list as I should be logged in most of the weekend.

What
You will need the following Hak Paks from NWVault.

CODI Content Package 1b (codi_content1b.zip)
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Hakpaks.Detail&id=6800

CODI Sigil Tileset v2.0 (codi_sigil_tiles_v2_0.zip)
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=hakpaks.Detail&id=6222

Planescape Torment Music HaK
by: Mark 'BloodKnight' Iradian
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=hakpaks.Detail&id=2347

For the CODI content and tileset just unzip all the .hak files into the nwn\hak directory. If you want to use the tileset make sure to import the doors .erf file after adding the hak files to your mod.

For the music, just unzip all the .bmu files into your nwn\music directory and the .hak into the nwn\hak directory. To use the music in a module you'll have to also import that hak file into the mod.

Note: The music is in a .rar format, you will need a program like "Winrar" to "unzip" it.

P.S. Check out the people and books in the Tavern of Doors (ThrobbleServ) to get a feeling for your Planescape PC.

OK, I was right about the head cold making me think I could finish this by the weekend, so I'm giving myself another week.

However, this will give everyone plenty of time to download the necessary Hak files, hint hint.

I spent today matching creature models (from CODI) to descriptions (from WotC) to make a ton of creatures from the CODI content. Every time I worked on another aspect of the Glabrezu, I said "Good Lord - he's HUGE!"

This mod will be well worth the downloads if you've ever had any interest in planewalking.

OK, there is going to be another delay again before I can get this mod up, but it's for a really good reason. The CEP team has asked me to send them all the blueprints I made of the CODI placeables and all the creatures blueprints that Throbble made.

I got to spend a day or so going back through it all to polish it up so the Sigil mod will have to wait.

Look for our names in the release notes for CEP v2!

The CODI Blueprints have been sent off to the CEP team but it looks like I'll be doing more work for them. However, I will try to have the Sigil mod up by next weekend.

Also, it looks like ThrobbleServ may have to host it since limitations in our firewall prevent my computer from posting to GameSpy.

Alright, the Sigil mod is coming up in a minute on ThrobbleServ. There is still one more area that needs to be done and I need to place a few posters around the outside but I'll get to that tonight.

Hope to see you all there!

Here are some screen shots taken this evening.

We found ourselves in the ass-end of the Hive:
[attachmentid=880]

In truth, it's awful picturesque:
[attachmentid=879]

So we poked around like a couple of the Clueless:
[attachmentid=875]
Harys didn't seem to mind.

Then we thought we'd have a drink with this cutter:
[attachmentid=878]

And then we thought we'd go have one with this cutter:
[attachmentid=881]

But this devil scared us off:
[attachmentid=876]
Quoth Elessar, "That is one jacked elephant."

[attachmentid=877]
I needed a rest.

OK, A new version of Sigil the City of Doors is up with some fixes and additions:

- New area with the last 10 CODI creatures in it. Use the portal in the tavern cellar to go there.

- New NPC added to the tavern

[attachmentid=882][attachmentid=883]

- A couple new placeables here and there

- fixed various signs that weren't being auto-examined when used

Report any bugs or typos here or in a PM to me. I will do a little bit of polishing this week and bring this mod up again next friday for the weekend.

Mods up, come on by and check it out.

Recent Changes

- Added a "Welcome" journal entry with some info about the mod

- Added the "current project" to the Museum

-  Added CODI's stone benches (I knew I was forgetting something)

- Fixed all chairs so PCs now face the right way

-420

EDIT:

- Fixed area transitions into CODI's "The Stem" interiors by using WP destinations instead of the doors

EDIT EDIT: Added posters to the outdoor area

Not sure what you mean by that. If you mean WinRaR, I just downloaded the free trial and ignore the constant reminders to pay for their product.

Anyway, the weekend was a big success. Lots of people came by to check out the CODI content (most of which has already made its way into the CEP v2). I started keeping a log Saturday afternoon of people who visited. Got about 2 dozen Saturday evening and all Sunday. Beerfish, a forum moderator for Bioware and Da'Hak who's been working on various Planescape content both came on and checked it out and had good things to say about it.

Smith Hold is back up but if anyone missed the Sigil mod and wants to check it out just tell me and I can bring it back up.
