Ffs... a mac instead of a windows box?

Don't get me wrong, mac's are fine. But -just- as well, is windows and the pc.
If you're on windows already, then going to mac makes as much sence as trying to have a hamster growing wings by throwing it of a skyscraper.Caps, you forgot to put it in CAPS. And it's sooo small, and ... , eh, just make it make it like this next time:
_ L I N U X _  O W N S _ !!!! _[/span]

Acting like a fanboy really can satisfy sometimes.
And yes, I like purple, matter of taste, just like eveything else I wrote in purple.
"Linux" (understanding the kernel as well as the communety/distro's and all the rest that falls under it),
has its lesser sides too, it's not my taste when it comes to a server OS for that reason.
On the other side, it's always a relief when I'm back in my build with love, O so sweet, linux install.

This guy has another taste for example: http://www.linuxisforbitches.com/
[span style=\'color:red\']-disclaimer- do NOT check the AOL buddy icons on the site, you have been warned. My computer sucks, it's way too hardcore techie for me. You know what it takes to create that stupid cpu? All those thousand millions, perhaps more, transistors...

My 2 bucks, you'll need some time for it and it takes some effort,
to get to know it enough to surpass your windows "experience".
Your sucks statement is nothing short of ignorance.

And, look, if you're happy with windows, or don't have time to learn, please... stay with it. Everything a home user expects from it's computer can be done with windows in one or the other way. Een laptop als "toastie-ijzer" gebruiken en van die fratsen, niet meegerekend. 'tis maar, e, keeskop :P
If it's correct DX10 only will be for vista, then this seems me a very realist guess on what will happen.

That new games won't run on previous windows versions is cutting in their own flesh for as well M$ as the game producers/developers.

Do you even know what OS a modern mac uses?
It uses a Mach-BSD kernel - thats right - a REAL UNIX. You are probably still living in pre-OSX days...

As for your "Linux Rules" statement, ill stand by my previous argument. Linux DOESNT rule. In fact, it doesnt really do that much that you'd be aware of from a user-perspective. Its just a kernel.

Maybe what you meant to say was that GNU/Linux rules. Again, I would disagree, and say that the GNU part is what does the ruling, and that the linux part just tags along for the ride.

If you are interested in real UNIX, as opposed to a UNIX-clone, then go for any of the BSDs, which are a (more than GPL) open alternative to commercial UNIX.

Im not going to get into any fanboy argument, which is why I will not propose any suggestions as to what you should use. All I will say is that your assumptions of linux are misguided.

That is my "2 bucks" as a POSIX engineer with 7 years commericial experience (including linux KERNEL development)

*end rant*

I know mac's, I know darwin, even ran it on my pc before apple had its intel based computers in the stores. I know that linux only is the kernel. (I actually find it offending if people think I'm -THAT- stupid, I knew that when I was 14 years old) Actually, if we're going to nitpick anyway, I often refer to POSIX Osses, I never mean windows with it, while windows NT in fact complies with POSIX.1, should I be more specific here too? ... I run OpenBSD with turned out the one I liked the most of the BSD's. And I've been comparing the GPL and BSD licenses, I know them well enough. Something that shows how irrelevant experience can be, I would not make mistakes some profesionals do regarding these licenses. (like making GPL'ed code closed source) No, I don't think I'm misguided in any way, I've kept myself well informed about the present and the past.

That reply is a bit sad ... They are yelling around that linux is just the kernel in the basic documentation of many linux distro's and you knew I ran my own compiled linux (easy as pie, but may suggest that I know what linux is) and was messing around with FreeBSD, 2 years ago.

Sigh, I so hate this. Whenever you make a little stupid post on some game forums, there's always someone that can't read it. And somethimes I'm shocked to see who. Perhaps it's my fault, but it's so freaky irritating.

As a person who has always used windwos....I dont know what Linux is. Because I dont knwo what it is, it obviously sucks. Unless its like apples and cheese. Most people grimice at the idea of apples and cheese together, until they try it.

Other notable combinations:

Milk and Pepsi
(Lavern was on to something there)

Cheese and Ground Beef
(Seriously Taarna, try a cheese burger!)

M&Ms and Skittles
(Mama always said life was like a bowl of M&Ms and Skittles...)

Coffee and Sparkling Water
(I have it from a good source that carbonated coffee is good.)

Pizza and Curry Sauce
(Pizza vindaloo rules you!)

Peanut Butter and Celery
(Raisins on that is just nasty.)

Koolaid, Fortified Wine and Malt Liquor
(Still haven't tried this one.)

Beans and Rice
(The perfect protein!)

Chicken and Corn
(Ask Les Claypool about this one.)

Pork Soda
(See above comment.)

Macarroni and Cheese with Corn is great!

I also once convinced someone that Carbonated water tasted better if you put salt in it. He beleived me until he took a drink of it. I was wet for the next halfhour.

-Btw, M&Ms and Skittles DONT go together. Thats just plain wrong.

Hypocrite!

How can you go wrong with candy-coated chocolate and fruity wax?

Bah, you will never know the joys of M&M and Skittles mixed in a big bowl until you try it!

Oh AND one of the unique flavors in the Universe:

Twix and Mr. Pibb
(There's just something about the taste of prune cola mixed with chocolate and caramel with a cookie crunch.)

Well, seeing as Mr. Pibb/Pibb Xtra has a artificial caramel flavor, just like Dr. Pepper, I wouldn't see why not. Sounds like a totally awesome combo to me, but that may be biased since Twix is one of my favorite candy bars, and Mr. Pibb/Pibb Xtra/Dr. Pepper are one of my favorite soft drinks. Of course, I like Dr. Pepper slightly more than Pibb Xtra, and I rate Pepsi evenly with Dr. Pepper.

I don't drink soda/pop anymore anyway. I've stopped for a month now.

If anyone sees a soda called Dr. Pop DO NOT DRINK IT!

Someone I know saw it at Walmart one day and thought it was funny and bought some. It is the worst offbrand PoS Dr. Pepper iv ever tasted.

Ever try "Orbitz"? It's sort of like tiny colored balls of gelatin suspended in a clear syrupy liquid. We saw some at a random grocery store on the way to a cabin in Yosemite. Bought like 3 bottles but only got half-way through the first one before we decided to experiment on them.

Turns out, when you microwave it half the gelatin spheres sink to the bottom while the other half float to the top! Fascinating but definitely not made for drinking.

Two Words: Catholic School. No, I doubt it had alcahol in it, and I had two cups. It didn't taste like Sprite/7up/Sierra Mist. They actually taste good. Hmmm...I almost doubt it was poison too. :) ;)
