Thunderclap spell
« on: February 20, 2005, 08:16:11 AM »
Ordinarily, Thunderclap goes through mantle right?

Did GodSpire change anything for this?
Also, how many saves does it have? 3..?
I think bigbies forecful (?) hand has3 saves too..

Anyone know for sure how many saves and whether thunderclap goes through mantle?

Thanks!

Thunderclap goes through mantles.

No idea about Godspire.

3 saves, Fortitude, Reflex and Will.
          Fort = or Deafness
          Reflex = or Knockdown
          Will = or Stun

Originally Bigby's Forceful hand had no saving through, just strength test. Again, I don't know about Godspire.

On other servers thunderclap goes through mantles, along with shades, cleric magic domain and a few other spells.

Wow...well these servers haven't updated to newest patch? Cause those bugs have been fixed a while now.

They weren't bugs. The shades in particular was set so that it was different from other spells, to add more variety to the spellbook.
Spells like Evards and Thunderclap, both mantle-breaching, have "Spell Resistance - No" in their descriptions, which shows that they were intended to pass mantles as well as spell resistance.

Actually I think, due to common sense, spell resistance... is spell resistance.... and mantle... happens to be... mantle. not spell resistance

I'm using the power rangers to steal bandwidth from 10,000 people in florida.

I'd like to not get into the whole Shades argument lol...but take it from me since I know about these things...plus we've done research in DnD books....Shades was bugged....hardcore bugged...it passed through mantle ...wanna know why? cause it was on a seperate radial menu than all other spells....stupid? yup..thats Bioware for you...it was the exact same reason why cleric domain spells went through mantle...cause they too were seperate menu...they weren't part of the "main" nwn spell list, so mantle didn't recognize them...same reason why epic spells go through mantle...cause they are feats,  Mantle is supposed to provide protection against all magics.  Any form of magic that goes through mantle is bugged. most were fixed Earthquake and Evards don't seem to be yet.

Yes it does....but if you read a little closer you'll find out that lesser spell mantle absorbs 1d4+6...so most likey it won't be able to absorb a level 10 spell.  1 in 4 odds

Unfortunately NWN isn't wholely D&D ... notice the mutliclass rules and the "Still Spell" feats (totally against D&D)?

Evards and Thunderclap are not on a separate radial menu, yet they still go through mantle. Earthquake also has the "Spell Resistance - No" description, notice a pattern?

Shade varients themselves are forms of shadow magic, it makes sense for them to ignore mundane forms of magic. Plus it adds variety to the mage spellbook, which is greatly needed.

Epic spells especially were supposed to pass mantle, as well as ignore disruption and arcane spell failure percentiles. Bioware was clear on this, that's not a bug.

Well my friend...quite frankly and respectfully you're wrong on everything you've said.  Come to GodSpire and cast shades...guess what we didn't touch anything...it was fixed in the latest patch. No idea why the servers you play on are still bugged.

Hmm ... I've been to a lot of servers and duelled a lot of mages, including mages from GodSpire (a while ago). Those spells are meant and do go through mantles, are you sure you've tried on GodSpire?

It doesn't matter. Origninally they were meant to go through mantles, gashmo, and I'm certain they still do on most servers.

EDIT: Well the Thunderclap, Earthquake and Evards are supposed to. I was wrong about the Shades, looks like it was considered a bug. The "Spell Resistance No" still relates, though.
