About to try Freelancer
« on: January 10, 2005, 06:33:58 AM »
ok since i have this odd craving for space combat like say homewolrd or eve online, im deciding to give freelancer a try.
this is an elite style multiplayer game with free servers. must be maybe 30+ player son a server at a time i think.

elite = open ended space rpg you play a ship owenr and you can do anything you like be a pirate, trader, miner, police killer, join factions do escort etc. you can upgrade weapons etc and buy new ships.

one thing that bugs me is that i dont think you can get capital ships. you can only at most buy a freighter chassis and armour it up etc. in eve online i think you can buy a battlecruiser etc.

the other thing that bugs me is that they dont have a joystick control :/

otherwise than that the graphics look great!

anybody have any feedback?
if i get the chance ill post some feedback after i try it.
i dont know if i can get multiplyaer to work tho. anyway.

get X2  : the threat

you can own carriers and destroyers as well as factories. it also has a dynamic economy. (unlike freelancer ehich has static product prices)

freelancer has a better plot though

thanks james

yup i looke dup x2 the threat and it looks like a singleplayer version of the mighty EVE online

no multiplayer, has joystick, very massive economy and trade model, dogfight space combat, steep learning curve.

i think i prefer x2 because my freelancer keeps crashing after about 20 minutes everytime.
