Results of Clan Battle #1
« on: September 11, 2004, 11:38:32 AM »
OK, the official results of the first clan battle between the Mauraders and Doriath:

Winner: Doriath

Despite horrible, horrible lag, Doriath and its supporters turned out in record numbers. Through a thick fog of laggy, laggy lag, Doriath was able to overwhelm the Mauraders and take the first victory.

Now that we have all experienced it, please post your suggestions about how we can improve the conditions of the next battle. One good suggestion was to split the battle up into small groups to minimize lag or even lock GodSpire with a password so only the participants can join.

Thanks to everyone who participated, great effort on both sides!

Best 3 out of 5:
1/0 Doriath

The Mauraders could have used the support, it was something like 3 to 1.

OH, can each side please post a list of the players who participated?

Thanks!

That was chaos.

I think we may need to adjust the rules to ensure a more orderly slaughter. A few suggestions I saw in the Halls were:
1. Use another server for the battle.
2. Lock GS to anyone who isn't in the battle.
3. Limit the teams to 5 v. 5 or 8 v. 8. Have teams choose sides the day of the battle.

We have to do something, folks.

after a very laggy fight as was noted earlyer these my self and ??? met with Adisku and Jek to talk about the terms of war and we have come up with the following offical terms

Fair Teams 5v5 or 6v6 testing will be done ( this is to improve the figth and the lag matters

Hostiling your enemys ( many spells dont work unless your hostilied this is to hostile your enemys before the battle not during

resing a allie is allowed

hiders may hide once a round ( every 6 seconds)

balagarns horn is allowed

spells such as storm of vengance acid fog and other aoe spells that stay will be tested and noted on later

No Respawning

No healing

No hellballing

also rather thin have the winning team  immedatly decide when to have teh war we decided they may have one exact week to decide but the date and time must be anounced at least 4 days in advance so all players my know its date

i as that Adisku and Jek also post that these were the terms agreed on so that no one thinks im just makeing them up

Kristie, Pang and I did not attend the war, the dm ported 15 Doriath members and left us in doriath. Didn't make it even I know, but that is what happened.

How bout the clans get to chose who fights? all SA members were fighting while pang and I sat out. I'm tho very happy with the SA support, you guys had a lot of kills I saw.

was told 8 on marauder team by BzK, Rae said 9.....

and never under these tersm the Team arena worked at the time of thoughs battles though still with the large teams the lag becomes unbarable though it did the hole no allowing respawns and when the battle was over ti jsut ported every one out and declared the winner  or was it if they respawned the respawened back in the halls which ever yo uget teh idea

Wow...I am impressed with that turn out.  Hmmm...I guarantee victory in the next battle with at least all of you show up again.

I dunno what exactly happend but I am assuming you played in the team arena.  Here are my thoughts to reduce lag there.  Disable the missile catapults.  They are lag monsters.  No cloud aoe spells ie. acid cloud, incindiary cloud. They suck and aren't worth casting.  No hellball, even though I know Hellball was banned in pre-war talks.
Locking GS is a good idea.  And how about this: Each clan in only allowed at most 3 none clan support members. So no drafting on battle day.

Anyway sorry i wasn't there.  Good to see Raelias back. We'll get them next time.

PS. Jek is lame

Actually the only time people used the catapults was before the battle began.

*Shakes accusing finger at both sides*

Maybe we can just make the catapults against the rules for clan battles.

Another thing, we are going to need more referees, we need at least one in each clan's base to make sure people don't go into the center before the battle starts. Many players from Doriath crossed their base's bridge before I shouted "GO". We need at least 2 or 3 refs in the center island to view the battle from different angles and daze players as needed.

I think limiting the battle to 5 v 5 or 6 v 6 is a great solution for both the lag issue and the limited referee coverage. This will also (hopefully) prevent people from quitting their clan because they do not wish to be involved in the war.

Well I've been in the team arena with about 10 others and trust me the missile from the catapults are crazy laggy.. Maybe decrease the range or number of missile they shoot.

PS.  If someone is in a clan that is at war and doesn't want to participate then they should quit.  Marauders would have them executed  :D

Not quite all of it.

*fishes through notes for the ones about the war*

 - Area of Effect: only Hell Ball was outlawed (others are under consideration to outlaw)
 - Number of players: any and all could participate (5v5 or 6v6 is the suggestion)
 - Setting the date: originally had to do so immediately (Doriath has 1 week to decide the date)

So, please read the revised war book. If it's missing rules you think were agreed upon, let me know so I can put it in the book. We need a record of what is to be enforced.

The server itself was over 50% idle during the battle.
Having a war elsewhere would not have overcome whatever the problem was.
I would assume it was graphics lag, as when i joined, i could see my text the instant i wrote it.

I had a chance to get online on the comp now... And you know what this do? IT STINKS. Limiting supporters, (Which will make marauders more powerfull... Are you cowards or what?) ... Wars = Allies are allowed, unfair numbers are allowed, srry Marauders. Your fault if you got no numbers of members. But that's what we said before, and so it been in every war I've been in ...(3 with this.)

hehe whatever you say Hydros.  I recommend elementary schooling before posting on this board.  I made that recommendation to reduce the lag that totally made today's war UN-FUN.  If you have any constructive comments to make to help then please feel free.  Otherwise please refrain from posting stupidities.

As a fair and unbiased referee in this war, I'm going to have to tell you to shut up, Hydros. If you had read more of the posts about the war, or talked to anyone about how the battle went, you would know that many of the suggestions for the rule changes came from Doriath.

We don't need any more unsportsmanlike behavior than we've already witnessed. You weren't there, so your opinion about the way the rules were tweaked is irrelevant.
