I dropped off Bleach a while ago because I got tired of the way everyone reacts to new people and situations by drawing their sword and charging headlong at them, and the show never gave even a hint as to why that seems to be the only way to do anything. I appreciate its post-modern style of showing rather than teling but throw me a freaking bone here! Those of you who are up to date with the show, do you get even a little explination as to why things happen the way they do?

Ah, that they do. Usually the explanations come as the story progresses and as new plot twists pop out. While with a couple characters the true explanation is that it is the characters nature. Such as Ikkaku. He loves to fight, as such, he looks for fights.
If you mean in general, why enemies tend to pop out of fucking nowhere and slice the shit out of the characters and then talk more afterwards, that's just the way it is. It's action. It's not the type of series where there's talking, talking, talking, then verbal conflict, disagreements, and then fighting, it's meant to be alot more about the action... so you're sitting there watching Ichigo or someone walk down the street and then BAM! Shit comes out of nowhere and starts trying to kick their ass. The how and why are explained later. It's shoot first and ask questions later style. Bam bam bam bam, one thing after another, that's how action is supposed to be.
Some people would find way too much story telling and dialogue to be boring, and they would rather watch all the action, and this series is meant more for that type of audience than the other, in my opinion.
But if you're just talking about explanations as to why certain people are attacking others then yes, you get them. It's just like I said though, most of the action is first, then the explanations come later. =)
That's not to say many people can't enjoy and appreciate both styles though. I mean, even I do, as I watch both Death Note and Bleach.
