I'd like to not get into the whole Shades argument lol...but take it from me since I know about these things...plus we've done research in DnD books....Shades was bugged....hardcore bugged...it passed through mantle ...wanna know why? cause it was on a seperate radial menu than all other spells....stupid? yup..thats Bioware for you...it was the exact same reason why cleric domain spells went through mantle...cause they too were seperate menu...they weren't part of the "main" nwn spell list, so mantle didn't recognize them...same reason why epic spells go through mantle...cause they are feats, Mantle is supposed to provide protection against all magics. Any form of magic that goes through mantle is bugged. most were fixed Earthquake and Evards don't seem to be yet.

Unfortunately NWN isn't wholely D&D ... notice the mutliclass rules and the "Still Spell" feats (totally against D&D)?
Evards and Thunderclap are not on a separate radial menu, yet they still go through mantle. Earthquake also has the "Spell Resistance - No" description, notice a pattern?
Shade varients themselves are forms of shadow magic, it makes sense for them to ignore mundane forms of magic. Plus it adds variety to the mage spellbook, which is greatly needed.
Epic spells especially were supposed to pass mantle, as well as ignore disruption and arcane spell failure percentiles. Bioware was clear on this, that's not a bug.
