Any other good spellcasting RPG out now?

ok so i really like casting and i wont leave nwn permanently unless another good rpg with spellcastign systems come up. The only systems that come close to DnD atm are maybe MtG and Runequest.

I think there is also Rage of Mages - which i tried and its anot that good a spell system and there iare some spellcastign RTSes but I havent tried them seriously.

Dungeon Seige any good for spells?

Good spellcastign systems should have counter spells as well as schools of magic as well as a good balance of attack and defense and aoe and other types of spells.
Also, they shouldnt just be spam type spells really.

I don't think you will get any spell system in a game that is more complexe than D&D.

I mean Gary Gygax (yeah right, thats a real name) invented a great spell system on paper using complex mathmatics. This time-tested system can easily be translated to the computer due to the structure of D&D rules. So there can be few spell systems as complex and balanced as D&Ds in or out of video games.

Bottom line: Find more D&D based computer games to play.

Hm, Dungeon Siege is a nice game and i finished it twice, but the game isnt really focused on mages but more on melee and ranged, but i think you will be satisfied with the mage parts....

some  dungeon seige questions :-
1) have spellcasting with mantles?
2) how many players can play on one server / dungeon at a time.?
3) is the mod persistent owlrd or just a one shot world?
4) is the game random?
5) can we have pvp or just monster v player?

No, because Dungeon Siege is a hack and slash rpg you only have attack spells like lightning bolt etc. you do have some protection spells, but i forgot the name of them... the world is big and you dont have loading times, because when you walk in a forest a other part is automatticly loading, the game contains of Dungeons (duh ) forests, ice landscapes, caves, and a place that looks like Diablo's Liar... the server capacity lies around the 16 players and the areas arent random created like D2... But if ye like Hack & slash rpg's Dungeon Siege is your thing!  

(PS: the graphics arent bad either, and you can see every thing that you wear like gloves, boots, etc. and PvP is possible i think...)

Dungoen siege is a lot like D2, just as addictive. Luckily I've been through D2 before that so after getting to lvl 138 in dungoen siege I tossed it away. I recently got the game with expansion pack.... I didn't bother looking into it.
