Interstellar Space Game like nwn

what do you think of making a game like nwn except for space battles/exploration?
the key would be to have toolset so that players can build their own galaxies/worlds, spacecraft, not sure about individual worlds yet.

I guess we could use Traveller but that is really huge..

I remember Talon once mentione din the arena that it might cost about GBP 700,000.

Is it worthwhile? I know there's other big space mmorpgs but this oen will be toolset driven.. and we dont pay for the servers.. the comunity does it..

Anybody wanna join up? I can get funding i think....

major problem points i see:

1.  not enough tilesets for that kind of thing.
2.  players wouldnt exactly be able to link there own worlds to the server unless they gave them to the host, which could cause a lot of mail for the host and it takes a lot of time to get things all attached etc.
3.  how would it be that the community pay for it?

other points i see:
1.  anyone can open there toolset and make something if they know how to script.

nah.. i dont really like the star wars spacecraft - much prefer the ones from... homeworld or robotech.

oh i still think its a good idea. all the basic components r there already except for the space environment game setup.

star wars is fine its good - just my personal pref..

i still like playing Xwing vs Starfighter
but if i had to command a starcruiser sometime - yeah id want it to look different than just grey.....
