Ok I bet no one here has played Warzone 2100!!
This is one of the biggest rtses i know off. The tech tree spans three generations and each generation is almost like a civ tech tree (ok a bit smaller). You go from tanks and hovercraft all the way up to mecha.
The big thing with this game was that the player could design each unit himself. You were given a whole lot of parts like chassis, weapon and wheels/tracks/hover etc. The game has a really awesome flying fleet.
This is one rts which is almost as big as TA. I have an original box CD set. If you google for "Warzone 2100 fan site" i think you will find that EIDOS has released the game into the public domain! Ther eis a bit of an active modding community.
