Who herewishes they are or will be married oneday?
« on: November 08, 2004, 03:38:43 AM »
um.. this poll is just about whether being a solid couple is something which we all still want. It isn't about marriage as an institution per se.

So it is really asking - do you ever want to be or hope to be in a 1+1 relationship forever, or at least for a substantial time, say 10 years plus?

Feel free to discuss...

Well, as you can see, I added a response: "I'm married - it rules," which pretty much sums it up. Realistically, I should also add "I'm married - it sucks," but I'm a romantic at heart and refuse.

Little advice: Marry your best friend.

I'm not talking like your buddy you grew up with or your classmates or any of those losers you will never talk to again after highschool. I mean the life-long friends that you meet after you have grown up and discovered all those kids you knew when you were younger are just jerks who hung out mostly because of geographical convenience.

If they happen to be the same gender you are, so be it. It is not societies decission but your own.

Sorry I had to post the reality of highschool buddies. Truth is, I still keep in contact with one of my friends from highschool and Throbble is still in regular contact with a few. But for the most part, people change a lot as they mature and usually they find that their old friends are no longer the type of people they want to hang around with.

*Re-reads post to try to figure out where he started ranting.*

Uh, hmm, so in conclusion, marry your best friend and your life will go a lot easier.

Well, I removing the extra "would" helped, but I still think there are some critical punctuations missing and I think you want to use "what" instead of "how".

Let me attempt to translate:

Cabazon: Then what would your bride look like?

However, this seems to be an extremely shallow response to:

"I guess my happiness would depend on whom I would be married to."
-Cabazon

Zaron seems to assume Cabazon's happiness depends on how good-looking his wife was. I think Cabazon may have been refering to his future bride as a human instead of an object.

I know, it's a wacky concept, but females are actually human, they can "say bad words", think for themselves AND feel emotions just like males! *gasp*

Bah, humans are overrated.

I'm human and here is what I have observed:

- Each human thinks they are the center of the Universe.

- Too much hair.

- Every 24 hours you must hose yourself off to get rid of the stench.

- Every 16 hours your body tries to force you into an unconscious state. (sleep)

- You must almost continually shove various outside objects down your gullet just to survive a little longer. (food, water, air)

- All food, water and air is recycled since the planet a closed environment. (YUK!)

- The % of water is a human's body is almost the same as the % of water vs. dry land and the ocean is the world toilet. (humans are mostly waste material waiting for processing)

- Humans constantly slough off their skin (SUPER YUK!)

- Much of a humans body is made up of non-human cells (bacteria)

- Human digestive system is technically "outside" of your body. (Inside being the sterile part) So humans are just big, walking tubes. (EEEW)

OK, I'll stop there, I'm starting to get nauseated.

Wanna hear my weird little secret? I've always wanted a cat-tail.
Wanna know why? So I can slap folks across the face with my hands on my hips.

Man, I probably shouldn't admit that in public, huh?

Uh...

Advantages

- Great tax breaks.

- People stop wondering if you are brother and sister.

- Family gets off your back about getting married.

- Saying "My wife" is faster than saying "My girlfriend"

- Ultra-conservative parents now let you sleep in the same bedroom with your spouse while visiting.

Disadvantages

- For some reason, when I go out in public with my wedding ring on, random men try to pick fights with me. This was not the case before. In fact, this happened again yesterday.

Advantages:
 -  Membership in a secret society that somehow involves knowing what a hostess set is. married people think you're "one of them."
 - The ring can be used to ward off creepy men in public places.
 - Hotsweatymoneysex is no longer a sin against God.
 - I didn't expect to feel differently about 420 just cuz we're married, but there's a certain je ne sais quoi about it. As I said, it rocks.

 Disadvantages:
 - The creepy sensation of hearing your mother refer to "your husband."
 - Having to listen to 420's horrible mother during Thanksgiving.
 - Taxes. Despite what 420 said, we'll get screwed on our taxes now (sorry to tell you on the forum, honey!).

Took away the advantages/disadvantages split and changed the order a bit. I go something like this:
Quote
- Great tax breaks.
Quote
- Taxes. Despite what 420 said, we'll get screwed on our taxes now (sorry to tell you on the forum, honey!).
And this:
Quote
- Family gets off your back about getting married.
Quote
- Having to listen to 420's horrible mother during Thanksgiving.
This too:
Quote
- Ultra-conservative parents now let you sleep in the same bedroom with your spouse while visiting.
Quote
- Hotsweatymoneysex is no longer a sin against God.
And this:
Quote
- For some reason, when I go out in public with my wedding ring on, random men try to pick fights with me. This was not the case before. In fact, this happened again yesterday.
Quote
- The ring can be used to ward off creepy men in public places.
Well, I'm not going to comment each line whit what I think about it, but, it's funny.
If I ever marry, it most likely will be about the time I wish to have childeren. In Belgium marriage is financial interesting starting from that point. However, there's a goal I want to reach in my life, and it's not having childeren or a 'happy ending old day whit my husband'. So marriage isn't that important to me, but I think, hope and wish that you two enjoy life at least as much I do. And life is too short, but I love to life :)
