Neverwinter
« on: September 17, 2011, 09:13:10 AM »
First of all, yeah im still alive! :p
Browsing around i just saw a new Neverwinter game that came out nowhere to be released next month already (According to Gamespot), though theres only one trailer and barely any information about it.
Has anyone seen/plans to play it?

http://www.playneverwinter.com

Trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJGGDxjrn-w

Its being developed by Cryptic studios which were owned by Atari, but they just sold Cryptic to Perfect World known for their free to play chinesse mmos.

So who knows how that might end... i hope it doesnt turn into another fiasco like NWN 2

Edit: i just saw an old post about it after posting, but seeing how Cryptic is owned by PW now i fear it may turn out into another grindfest with cash shop ><, though i did watch an internview where they say that theres one persistent world and also the posibility for the players to create their own stories...

Ya I saw something about this a little while ago.  I'm just happy to see FR content still being produced online.  We'll see how it turns out.

I looked at the main site, looks like their might be some options for "creating" / "building" your own levels and shit. That sounds good.

Better not be an MMORPG... it can fuck itself if it is. I don't want that shit.

What's wrong with MMORPGs? :(

Nothing...

...if you're a mindless zombie and enjoy repetitive monotonous tasks.

Well its not the same having to grind ur ass off to get to the max lvl in an mmorpg than just making a char that is high lvl from the start and just hang around with friends and duel sometimes like GS used to be :p.

For me its fine if the core game its an mmorpg as long as ppl can still can make their mods like in the first nwn.

You've gotta spice it up a bit! Add in a cat that never listens to you unless it involves food or treats...

I'm not one bit interested in playing the game, at the moment anyways. :P it doesn't look all the fun.

From my understanding Nevewinter is not the Neverwinter Nights "idea". It'll be based on the Guild Wars "idea", which sucks. I hate instanced worlds, where just a small group gets to share in the adventure. I get this impression when they say "co-op RPG"

...god, I hope it's not like Guild Wars; what a boring-ass game after 1-week

December 31, 2011 is the release date according to Amazon. It sounds interesting at least. I'm pretty sure it's free to play online as well. I'll probably get it, it looks good enough to take a risk.

Neverwinter will no longer be a "co-op RPG". According to this article from IGN it will now be a free-to-play action MMO.

It doesn't sound attractive anymore. Too bad, they really ruined the series with nwn2 (which I enjoyed, just not near as much as nwn1).

I wish I could make video games man... I'd make the best goddamn video game ever. Fuck yes.

I think the first game I would make would be one of the many ideas I have, more or less an experiment but still an attempt at making a fun game. After that though, the first badass game I would make would, without a doubt be a giant fucking sandbox, involving the universe, space, planets, and shit like that. A lot like what Spore should have been.

Second would be a sandbox RPG style game set in some huge fantasy world, either completely made up, or D&D, and I would definitely go above and beyond what they did with NWN 1.

One more game that I would simply have to create is a pirate game, I can never find a pirate game that has all of the elements and features I want in a great pirate game. It would also give players the ability to create their own adventures and design their own worlds and shit as well, and would feature amazing ship battles and everything (like I've wanted for like, forever).

I wouldn't stop making patches and fixing/adding shit just because a game is getting old or outdated either. After awhile, sure I might stop adding content, but if bugs and problems are ever reported, I would still see them getting fixed.

I can't tell you how many old games I run into that have these stupid bugs hat are so fucking annoying or just cause you hassle time and time again, but you otherwise love the game, and the bug is something that could so easily be fixed by the developers if they would simply do it. Obviously fixing one bug might not be worth a whole patch, but there's always more than one thing that can be fixed/tweaked.

I'm tired as fuck right now cause I just woke up after sleeping like a rock, so I didn't elaborate as much as I probably would have, it just sucks nobody seems interested in creating these kind of games and I want games like these so fucking bad, dammit.

Fuck almost all mmo's up the ass with a rusty jackhammer.
