So these guys played for our high school when I was a freshman, some ten years ago and I remember they played out side a bathroom at the county fair that same year. Few years ago I use to hang out in the mills downtown and partied with one of their roadies that sets up their equipment. Their studio is still in that mill.  It's always weird seeing people from this area in national news and events.

It's super weird, a few years back I went to visit my family for Thanksgiving and they had saved a newspaper with an article about how my best friend from high school was sent to prison for torching $3 Million worth of national forest.

Woot I can finally post here!!

So hearing tire screeching outside my place is nothing new because many times people don't notice the red light at the corner until it's too late. However today when I heard it I knew that it was gonna end ugly and sure enough 'bang' accident. I go to the window to see how bad and not within 10 seconds do I see half a dozen provincial and municipal cops surround the crashed car.

Ok this is interesting. Once I saw the cops approach the vehicle guns blazing I thought for a moment that Osama Bin Laden was in the drivers seat. Who ever it was he had lots of heat on him as cop car after cop started to make my street look more like a police drive-in theater.

The man inside was quickly thrown to the ground, tackle and hand-cuffed in a matter of probably 1 minute. I didn't have time to snap pictures of the actual arrest. He was whisked away in an SQ car.

The plates of the vehicle look like Vermont plates. So he's probably American, I didn't notice any FBI or RCMP however.

See the pics here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=109578&id=509397554&l=6065311743

OK, you do know that "guns blazing" means they were firing their guns? I was surprised to see that he was taken alive after there were guns blazing.

I bet the guy who was being chased was hoping for whatever you are remembering.  Too bad for him, he fought the law and the law won!

Sweet, the weird thing about San Francisco is when we hold a pot rally it doesn't seem any different than any other day in SF.

True, we just give those events funny names like, The Haight Street Fair, and so forth.

An alderman thinks there's a correlation between kids and young men playing basketball and johns driving around looking for hookers.  And as far as complaints about the noise, though a small city, it's still a city.

I was having lunch in a restaurant today when the sky decided to open up and deluge the city. I was stuck for almost two hours.

Here is some video of the flood taken a few blocks from where I was: SF Flood

EDIT: Heh, just saw some nice footage of Throbble's office getting flooded, the skylight in the kitchen leaked and water came in under the doors.

Holy crap.  How long was it raining to produce that kind of flooding??

Reminds me of the year a supercell rolled through Montreal in 1987 dumping over 100mm of water in under and hour.  Here's a photo of one of the major expressways.  It's below ground so highly susceptible to the flooding.

I would say the full blast lasted about an hour. Apparently 20 min of torrential downpour is enough to start a backup in the city's drainage system. Luckily I was at the top of Russian Hill when it happened and we live on a steep incline.

It's been about 20 degrees colder than normal here.  We had snow flurries the other day and if you caught the Pats/Oilers game you know what I'm talking about

Two murders in two days! One two blocks from where I used to live the other 4 blocks away, one block from my friends house!  I think our block is half of a New York block.

Some crazy guy in a red mini van is trying to abduct little children around my neighborhood.  So far it appears he's been unsuccessful.

Did I ever mention I live in the country? My stories would generally consist of: "Dog got hit by a car." "A cat got trampled by a cow." Apart from that, it is truly uneventful. Just the way I like it.

You say that but a few weeks ago a woman was murdered in her country side home.

And in the 20+ years we've lived here... no murders. Sorry to disappoint you. Occasional natural disasters I guess... but it's always outside our neighborhood... thankfully enough.

Got a double shot today. A 4 pointer at 2:40 then a 3.9 at about 8:20. Whee! Free ride for all!

Yeah, those are the fun ones. Added some realism to a battle in Deus Ex: Human Revolution that Throbble was playing at the time. Turned on the radio to a local station (KCBS) and it was like:

Host 1: "So, to repeat we just had an earthquake. No information on the magnitude or location yet but we felt it here in downtown San Francisco. How did it feel to you Mary? At first I thought it was a truck going by outside."

Host 2: "Well Bob, I'd say it did feel just like a truck going by outside. Let's take some calls from out listeners."

Caller 1: "Hi, I live in Hayes Valley and I definitely felt it. At first I thought it may just be a truck going by."

Caller 2: "I didn't even know it was an earthquake until someone told me."

Caller 3: "Yeah, I work in downtown San Francisco and I didn't feel anything."

Hilarious!

Today I'm going to walk around and make fun of all the Euro-trash tourists exaggerating the severity of the quake. Good times.

Yeah, SF is mostly on a big hunk of rock which absorbs the shakes. Now that I'm in east bay where the bedrock is below a lot more loose dirt it had more of an effect. They actually gave off a good bang like Hulk gave your house an annoyed punch.

Both Throbble and I noticed a significant increase in helicopter traffic just now even through we're in relatively different parts of the city and then we found out this was happening:

Occupy Protesters Swarm Bank Lobby During Downtown SF March

That's about 10 blocks from where we live.

Nice.  There's an Occupy Montreal, downtown here but it's just an excuse for people to pitch tents and do nothing.
