I've gone from a cable to modem no problem and then used a router with the modem and again no problem.  You may need to setup a Windows network?

Here. Visit this thread, and download one of those programs, they should do the trick for you. I'd suggest GIMP 2 myself. Your images will also come out better quality than if you used microsoft paint. If you need a link to something, just do a google search on the program name.

first off what's the difference between HDR and bloom and wich is better in Oblivion to turn on cuz geforce cards can't turn both on.

and second how's the deal now between dual core processors i saw NFS needs a 3Ghz processor now i have a dual core @2Ghz does that mean two processors @2Ghz=4Ghz??

It's not really as cut and dry as 2x2Ghz = 4Ghz but a dual core 2Ghz is considered "faster" than a single core 3Ghz. Most games put down either the single core requirements or the dual core, they need to start putting both down.

NFS is probably requesting a 3Ghz+ P4 processor.  Which is absolute junk compared to lower clocked Core 2s.  Don't worry about it.  Besides the Extreme Editions there are no 3Ghz Core 2s, but basically all of them are faster than P4s, due to much better architectures.  Games these days still only use 1 core and won't make use of the 2nd.

Tangentially related: I finally upgraded my OS (and by association my hard drive) in order to play Hellgate - now I have XP SP2 and a total of 750 GB of space.

Oh and technically speaking, 420 did the upgrade, because I don't like the idea of dissecting my own brain. So thank you, hon!

Well, for one thing, I don't think ET:QW runs on Linux. And for another, you can't get any serious W,A,S,D action done on that tiny little keyboard!

He probably runs in it WINE, which is a Windows emulator.  He mentioned he got Guild Wars working it in before I believe.  I wouldn't expect good 3D graphical performance in that setup however.

I'm very comfortable with the keyboard. From a gamers view there is one flaw, from the left, the "ctrl" key comes after the "fn". On linux I can use the "fn" as "ctrl", so this flaw is limited to windows. (i.e. who cares)

Rather than acting as a full emulator, Wine implements a compatibility layer, providing alternative implementations of the DLLs that Windows programs call, and processes to substitute for the Windows NT kernel.

Yes that's what i read.  They can't use the same DLLs as Windows as that would be illegal.  Fine, WINE isn't pretending to be anything but WINE.  Why don't you whine about it

Anyway, I installed WINE on my OpenSuse system and guess what the RPM description was "A Windows Emulator" hah guess someone forgot to tell who ever wrote that huh.

I wanted to run a test but WINE doens't like my framebuffer config (need to fix that one day) and it can't create windows.  So Mel why don't you run my test.  Download CPUZ, I'm sure you know what that is.  Run it using WINE, click the about tab, and let me know what it says under Windows Version, if anything.

I think If I'd have to agree with somebody, it'd be Mel, simply because I think of an emulator as emulating a WHOLE program/application/whatthefuckever. A whole piece of software, what have you.
