Need Help
« on: April 05, 2007, 06:41:38 PM »
I still dont have a new computer and am now looking for a gaming desktop. If found quite a few gaming pc sites and want to know if any are recomended (I know everyone loves alienware but...), if there are any negative things about a certain one/few, or if I should just go to a mainstream place like Gateway, Dell or HP.

Mercy will probably agree with me.  I was impressed with their offerings and prices.  However I always build my own systems.  But if I were to buy I'd look at these people.

Besides the fact that your pc there is ugly as hell.  You said you wanted a gaming PC.  A gaming PC should not have an Athlon X2 in it, it should have a Core 2 Duo.  It also shouldn't have a super old Nvidia 7600GT.

+$16 gets you a 7900GS

Hypersonic-pc all the way! They rock in their gaming department, also they have the best customer support I have ever had with any computer company EVER!

I had a problem with my cpu fan and I did not want to send it there. So they sent someone onsite to check it out. And 4000 dollars is not the only price you can go with. Custom build your pc, dont just go with one of their selected models. Also dont go with inclusive stuff like monitor etc. And software, its cheaper. The comp I have from them in their package was 7000 and I built it to my specs for 2.5k and its rock solid.

But I do bulid my own pcs anyway, especially since that is my major :D.
Elessar: why is the shit coming from his head?
Anheg: cause its japanese?

Is a NVIDIA® GeForce® 7950GT 512MB GDDR3 Dual DVI - Dual Link w/ HDCP & TV-Out (thats a copy/paste from a webpage) an acceptable gaming card?

I can only assume its better than my previous one since it was a GeForce 6200 OC

The new Nvidia midrange DX10 are coming very soon.  You might want to get one of these to play next gen DX10 games.

I went to the computer store to buy the card and I was looking for the GT and the salesman told me that it was faster.

If anyone is interested.  I've been buying stuff there for 5+ years.
They used to not over sell you stuff but things have changed.
