they're usually close to the locker they have the code for... play the scientists' logs to get codes

Hmm, Doom 3. Initially I thought it was really cool. Amazing graphics, atmospheric, made you jump occasionally etc, but I am getting bored already.  The main problem I have is actually the predictability. After you play for a while you can predict where monsters will spawn and how many. For example, suppose an imp spawns in front of you. You immediately know that one will spawn behind you as well.

Also, the fact that monsters keep spawning in areas you have just cleared gets really really annoying after a while. Whats the point of securing an area just for more monsters to spawn? Ok I can live with imps etc arriving as they teleport in, but where do the bloody zombies appear from? Again this makes it predictable. If a monster appears in front of you, you can be damn sure one will appear in the just cleared area behind you.

Hopefully Half Life 2 will be less predictable.

That is Throbblefoots main gripe about Doom 3. We got it 2 days before going on our Honeymoon so I haven't played it enough to really get into it.

I love the amazing graphics and the chainsaw RULES!!!!!! You can kill anything in Doom 3 almost instantly with the chainsaw!!!!!

Now I just need the BFG 9000...

No, it can't run the ultimate setting yet.

The double gfx card thing might be able to run it but beside that nothing can run it.
Watch it.

ID Software made the game to last. Maybe in a couple years we can crank up the graphics all the way. I think they just wanted to make a game that was ready for the next generation of graphics card/processor.

He hasn't played it because I've been hogging it!

I'm definitely having fun, but there have been some areas/tasks where I just wanted it to be over with, sick of limping along with 47 health, 2 clips, one cell, and no chainsaw. And, like Raven, I'm pissed about the respawning creatures (it's weak, unimaginative, and it ruins the game's immersive quality).

But it is challenging and the graphics are amazing. I can't wait to see what American McGhee will do once he gets his hands on the engine!

No kidding! There is a piece of paper that comes with the game that recommends you turn off the lights when you play. Are they trying to give me a heart attack!?!?!

I won't EVEN tell you what I found crawling around Recycling - Sector 2 yesterday! Bright, sunny day, not a cloud in the sky and I'm jumping out of my skin!

420 recently beat the crap out of the Guardian, but the battle led me to an important conclusion:
I'm gonna hafta cheat at this game.

I'm taking a break for a day or 2, got to the Caverns level 2 and the floor is falling out from under me. Annoying, I keep side-stepping enemy fire and falling into lava.

I can't imagine playing on a higher difficulty level than the lowest.
