Dungeon
« on: April 08, 2005, 10:38:39 PM »
I'll be starting work on a Godspire dungeon.  A home for our new creatures.  It will make use of the old cave system we used to have here, plus some new levels I will work on.

Here's the big surprise.  Special items will be hidden inside.  Mostly all Godspire "illegal" items.  Such as level 25+ up to maybe a level 61 uber weapon :P

How will you be able to keep these items you wonder?  I will set up a bank type store house where you can store your loot.

Timeline:

1)Dungeon
2)Treasure
3)Bank

I can't say how long this will take cause I want to make it as cool as possible.  It will be however my main project for GodSpire.

Hopefully 420 will have a couple new creatures for it ;)

PS. there might be some really nasty stuff in there....don't be surpised if there's a trap that will ban you for an hour or so hehehehe

A banning trap? What is this world coming to? Traps only had big ol' teeth and chomped on your leg if you stepped on it not too long ago!

I like the banning idea and VERY anxious to have a bank considering I've had my hands on a few keys and lost them.

Just have patience...I'm getting a lot of good ideas...the more detail I put in the better it will be and obviously the longer it will take.

I'm hopinh 420 to come out with a few new baddies, and maybe a Kung-Foo Hero or two.

And we would be allowed to use these items in duels?

My only cause for concern regarding these items is what the NWN community will now think of GodSpire.  By distributing these items, some may think we have gone uber.  Perhaps if a script was implemented where these new items cannot be equipped inside the Halls.  This will preserve the idea of Legit and balanced PvP.  Outside the Halls, however, a clan may use these items to help raid a rival clan's area.  This will also help solve the problem of the items getting into the wrong hands and abusing them by attacking newbs if a sentinel is unavailable.

Although I think I have the answer to this question, I'd feel safer if it's said comin from Mo.  These items will just be uber (i.e. higher than the normal 500k) and not hacked, correct?

Good Point, but these will be hard enough to get, an unexperianced player couldnt get them. About dueling with them, it would be obligatory to inform the person you are about to duel, that you are using a 'specialized' weapon. Or maybe we cannot use the duel manager with one equiped and cannot equip one in a duel.

It's actually the experienced players that I am worried about.  Anyone from another server who knows what they're doing can get a group of their friends together to get these items and abuse them later on.

Not everyone is as honorable as you and I are.  I like the idea of not being able to use the Duel Manager if a special item is equipped, but that won't stop experienced troublemakers/randomers from abusing them in the Halls.

Under the initial plan for the caverns, "uber" items could be used only in clan wars, or within the cavern itself.

Hmm, about the banning trap.. the only thing I'm concerned about is whether these banns are going to be registered along with DM-banns.. cause having a bann on your record isn't exactly a good merit.
How do you spot a CM-player in GodSpire?

Simple. Look for the only player that's not sidestepping all over the place.

Would be seperate.

As for the concern about these items...they aren't hacked...just high gold value.  If they are equiped you will see a green aura around the player or something similar.

It would be easy to script it so that the items exceding the 500K limit are not equipable in the dueling halls. But for the sake of clan battles, they should be equipable in the team-duel arena.

Wouldnt use in clan battles tip the scales just because someone spent a so many hours running around in a cavern?

I think a 10 minute ban would be better, your party can get pretty far ahead of you in 10 minutes time.

Yea, a shorter amount of time would be better.  If i had an hour to kill, i'd go out and hang out with friends or something.  And by that time, I wouldn't even feel like getting back on my comp anymore.  Here's another idea.  These bans shouldn't be actual bans.  It should be like getting banned specifically from the caves and not the server.  Although, that's probably what you guys were already thinking... weren't you?  Cuz you're so smart and all... yea...

The high level items is a very good idea, It is much like RP servers. If GodSpire was RP you would obviously want to level your char to 20/40 so you can start wh00ping people but in this case GodSpire is local vault so you can level in other ways like what you see here. Another possibility would to creat an item use it on your newly obtained item... Lets say a robe and than use the item again on some armor you created with no properties and it will use the properties off the found robe on your created set of armor and destroy the old robe. This particular item should be hidden aswell so to give players some pride when they find it and can show off there custom high level gear.

ok i've read all the post and here's what I think.

If all of you are so worried about the "uber" weps, they should stay in the caverns
and if they want to try them out on players maybe put a side arena for PVP and when they leave its takin away from there inventory so they can't use it.

Idea for clans/guilds if you want a player to test there skills on a monster first. Tell them to run the gauntlet and if there storng you juge if they'er in or not.
this is just a thought.

now for the ban trips I don't think that's such a good thing to put in the cave. why?
people well get annoyd by this and that little thing might lower the Popularity of godspire. this what I think.

but all 'n' all I say it well be fun to have a dungeon on godspire.

PS I might beable to make a very strong monster as the "finle boss"
let me know on that.
O'hana means Family, Family means no get left behind or Frogotten:)

Saruman is most likely going to be the final encounter in the dungeon.  I think he's pretty tough enough.

Oh he's getting upgraded spells, such as a version of the DnD favorite Inprisonment spell.

Freedom scroll will be made available, however rare.

@ Stitch
-most of those monsters can't be taken down by yourself w/o dieing (a lot), even if i'm wrong, a lot of the guilds are 20-based....and no lvl 20 can take those out-unless DM-help :P

*suggestion make weaker version of the monsters for lvl 20s to fight; then just add a script that gets the entering PC's lvl and spawns either the beasties we know now or the weaker ones
