Shifters would be a great choice of class 4 duelling in Gs except that generally shifted creatures have terrible AC's, even worse AB's and awful DC's for the creature abilites. Is there no way they can be incresed? Even if you have +6 AB/AC from str + dex in items when shifted, thats still really poor.
However, if you add all of the armor/dodge/shield/natural/deflection AC bonuses I think the AC would become too much, so I had an idea - to add the dodge & natural AC bonuses, the weapon attack bonus (and weapon damage to unarmed forms) and have the creature ability DC's at 10 +1 per shifter level+wisdom modifier (to make them usable).

What do you all think about this?

I think the shifter class is fun and very good for rping, but never the less it's rubbish for dueling other classes (if not rakshasa against a mage...).

However changing a class like that would mean your going against the rules, so I'm against it. If such a thing were to be made then sorcerers might as well also get to use cha for skills as this makes the wizard get more hp than a sorcerer, but do we really need to change things to how we wants them? it's like cheating... meddling with classes to make them better.

Well, just keep in mind; The classes were meant for more Player vs Monster play, so not all are going to be the best... for PvP.

you could just limit the ac to +5 and saving throws to +10 for each of them set a new max ab

i mean monks with 110+ ac is a bitch to hit at a 85ab

a second thought would be to use the armor system i found on Vault that is much more real-life that basically makes u easier to hit as u increase in armor class(none, light, medium, heavy) instead of making it harder to hit u. the best way for me to describe it is it turns the AC bonus into resistance +5ac -> 5/- (not sure what type of PHYSICAL dmg)

A little bit more power for the shifters seems fine to me. Exept the dragon, that 1 is already fine if you duel 20 rollers. GS once had a setting so that shifters were very powerfull. Wasn't a good idea back then, that's why the change did get removed.

Well, shields thier bonnuses did transfer too. 90 ac was possible, rasha with 80 or so too. I didn't build shifters then, so I don't know every difference, but they were a lot stronger. And any cleric or hider did slaughter them of course :P

dam...

I'm not talking that lvl of power 4 shifters, just something to make them have a fair shot at other ppl. As it is only the dragons have any half chance of beating anyone.

could give them some good values, instead of a load of ac they could get some resistances (magic and such), so that even tho they're hit a lot they don't take much dmg and that way match up to the rest ??

to get shifters in the mod builder would have to carefully script changes for each shift-shape...

for example in nwknights, its only by luck that shifters have some sort of ok balance so that dragons etc can feature a bit and make the game more exciting.. but even in nwknights they had to tweak each shape's ac etc separately.

gs isn't really about making a separate nwn pvp. its about making a generic pvp for nwn. so im not sure that shapes should be tweaked anyway.

You people just dont know how to make one thats all. My dragon can have 73 ab with 89 ac. + hellball + like 100 buffs+50%conceal. Dragons are awsome if used right. And there very fun to use. Like dragon duels, with rules like no dispels, or, no rebufing once its done. Stuff like that. Try it its worth it.  The best class for normal none hiders are druid cleric monk. Mess around with the lvl's for diffent ab and ac.

If I knew what applied to the char as he transforms and what I'll get after the tranformation I could calculate what I'd end up with, but I have no idea what I'll get when making a dragon char at all. What kind of base ab and the hp difference and ac and especially the ability points.
