BioWare/EA DRM
« on: April 13, 2011, 02:21:25 PM »
Looks like BioWare requires authorization before you can play some of their single-player games. Their DLC server was down last weekend so people were unable to play DA:O even if they didn't have any DLC content anyone who tried to play got a "DLC not authorized" error. Fucking fascists.

Fucking bullshit. I never had any problems like that with mine but I have the 360 version.

Seriously, when the fuck is EA going to learn? Did they not get reemed enough after their bullshit with Spore's DRM? And seriously, they're 'fix' was pathetic. They should have fucking simply removed it altogether, right then, right there. Are they even going to do anything about this one? Probably not. I don't even want to point fingers at Bioware or Maxis, or anyone else, because I bet these fuckers are behind all of it. Before EA, was Bioware shit? These EA fuckers are fucking up everybody elses reputation and turning them into shitballs too. They're fucking corrupt cocksucking piece of shit fucking fuckwads.

Ya I read about that this morning.  Pretty ridiculous.  It just harms the people who actually buy the product.

Yeah, what was it that Throbblefoot once said about poorly built locks again?

Yes I've got to say that's a nice promotion from EA, giving away Mass Effect 2 for nothing.  It's an amazing game.  I didn't play ME1, everything is well explained so that it doesn't hurt your experience.  Plus the ME story line isn't very complicated.

I definitely recommend playing ME1 first, but if it's going to make you wait awhile before getting it or somesuch, it's okay to skip it.

You do, however, get to play as your character from ME1 and get benefits and bonuses based on your ME1 playthrough, so it's a good idea anyway. But you can play 2 without feeling like you missed too much. (even though you really did. :P)

Serious question: Are they worse than Atari?

Couple questions: What exactly about Atari's practices/policies are you referring to?

And, Does it really matter who is "worse" in this situation? Sounds to me like they can all go to hell and good riddance.

If they can't understand Capitalism, or even rudimentary marketing, then the companies, and their franchises, are doomed.
