Valve is planning to release their own game controller. Called the "Steam controller" right now but I'm sure they will come up with a fancier name. It's in beta test but it looks pretty cool. Their are two trackpads that give "haptic" feedback. (Which I think means it has a variety of vibrations that it can utilize.)
Anyway, here is an article on BBC New about it: Valve reveals haptic game controller for release in 2014 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24304272)

I really like the idea of the controller but I don't play console games to justify buying it. Can I just try it out first?

The closed beta is only 300 people.
However, I believe that the idea behind Vavle's product is that you can run PC game on your TV. So you can get the couch, big screen, and wireless controller experience with all you PC games.
I think that's how it's going to work anyway.
