Full Metal Alchemist / The Ending

Bleach is about a boy who can see spirits and such. He somehow aquires shinigami (death god, grim reaper, soul reaper, whatever you wish to call it) powers, and is forced to act as a subsitute shinigami for someone. I'm being pretty vague here, dont really wanna give much away, but it begins with him learning about soul societey (the afterlife) and shinigami stuff ect ect. That's just the beginning though, a setup really. After you sort of get the hang of it all, stuff happens and then a giant war breaks out and you'll have to read it to find out =P About the orange hair, it's because asian kids are mean that way XD In some Japanese schools, you are not allowed to dye your hair. Everyone must have the same color hair and only a few variation of haircuts. I think those rules have loosened up recently though. So basically Ichigo's hair makes him seem unusal and outcasted sorta. The Japanese really follow that saying of "an upright nail should be hammered down" or however it goes.

General Anime / Naruto

Naruto is a good, but highly over-rated anime. I'm rather surprised that some people haven't heard of it, it's getting to be disturbingly popular o.o;; Anyway, my view on naruto is that it's good, but I see it as being the next DBZ. The action really is pretty much DBZ with ninjas, but the story isn't so bad. I might as well do my favorite anime list as well. (note, this is my anime list, it excludes manga. Since most manga is different than the anime).

1. Full Metal Alchemist
2. Hikaru no Go
3. Hunter x Hunter (just started, so far so good)
4. Naruto

List is short, I mostly read manga.

FMA is so far my favorite anime ever, however BLEACH is in a really really close tie for second X3. Anyway, I am also very much looking forward to the movie. What confuses me is that I've heard FMA anime is much different from the manga, which makes sense since the manga isn't over yet. Supposedly the manga goes beyond the ending of the series, which I'm assuming is what the movie is going to be about. I'm considering searching for the manga to see how it is, but I'm really backed up manga wise at the moment XD If anyone else goes off and reads the manga, be sure to talk about it =D

Random Ranting / Enjoy FFXI
« on: January 24, 2005, 04:14:21 PM »
FFXI was the first mmorpg I got involved with, so this is just my personal opinion. FFXI definately involves lots of your time, that is why I quit, however it needs this time because it's a very involving game.  FFXI is based around the entire world instead of just leveling, like most of the mmorpgs I've played have been. You do missions for your country, the missions are very interesting and have involving plots behind them. Unfortunately, you need to have a certain level to do some missions. To get from rank 5 to rank 6, you must be at least level 55. This was a huge let down because I achieved rank 5 at about level 30. Also, in FFXI you have to rely a lot on other people. You need to have a good LS (linkshell) or a good group of friends so you can all support eachother. You cannot solo your way through the game, like in ROSE or RO, or else you will have a miserable experience. EXP is really only a small part of FFXI, thus when you log on it's almost like going into another world. This is why FFXI takes lots of time and is an addicting game.

Random Ranting / FFXI Characters and Classes

No, it's not exactly turn based. It's not RPG style turn based anyway, where you enter a battle screen. Basically, when you engage a monster, you have physical and magical attacks. Your physical attack will automatically attack the monster every X seconds depending on your weapon's delay (example, a scythe or other large weapon will have about 7 seconds between swings while a knife will only have 2 or 3). This goes the same with the enemy. You then also have magic. The magic has a cast time and can be interrupted. Once a spell is cast, there is downtime until you can cast the spell again. That's the basic overview, it's a lot more complicated getting into the nitty gritty.
