Using this section as it's true nature and intent propose, I will introduce an RP. One that has already started. Mortal Kombat the thread is called, by my own invention. Looking at the name, you obviously thought of something else, but that's all it is, the same name. In fact, it has nothing to do with Mortal Kombat at all, except that there are mortals in combat. They die; they are mortals. However, there is the possibility of using an immortal type of character (lich, vampire, etc not completely immortal), and all that die may come back again, so perhaps it would be better named, Immortal Kombat? Either way, I may change the name later, it's not an official name, just a thread title.

Two people who actually come here are in that RP, Chard and Witchhunter_Z (Grug). The information outlining this RP can be located here:

That's at RoD, obviously. It's an open invitation for anyone to join in. The RP posts go in turns to avoid confusion. Though anyone who plans on joining will first have to be verified in that the preparation thread, and ok'd. Once that is done the order will be given. The max says five, currently it is at four, but I intend to increase the max. (excluding me) I play as the deities and particular NPC's, I generally watch over things and keep it in order. Thus far it has gone surprisingly well.

Basically the world, the content of that world, and so forth, are created by the players as they go along, the rules are very flexible, but strictly kept. Each RP may have their own custom rules that abide by the sections rules. So all is upkept, and order is maintained.

So go ahead and check it out, if that is your desire. You could even just read it, and read along if you wanted to. Any major questions and such are probably covered there. If not, feel free to ask. =)

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Rapper 50 Cent was arrested for traffic offenses while driving a silver, open-topped Lamborghini on Friday, generating a crowd that cheered the recording artist and jeered police as they handcuffed him.

The rapper, whose given name is Curtis Jackson, was cited for making an unsafe lane change, driving with an expired permit, driving without insurance and driving without a vehicle registration, a police spokesman said.

The 31-year-old recording artist was pulled over in Midtown Manhattan by plainclothes officers in an unmarked patrol car. At first he refused a police order to get out of the car, instead making a call on his cell phone, tourist Ian Parvess said.

"Eventually the cops opened the door. ... He just got out of the car and put his hands on the car and they put the cuffs on him," Parvess, who videotaped the arrest, told Reuters.

50 Cent, wearing a black baseball cap over a white do-rag and a shiny silver necklace over a white T-shirt, was taken to a police station and released soon after being given four summonses, a police spokeswoman said.

Spectators crowded around the scene outside the New Yorker Hotel, insulting police and breaking into a chorus of boos when the star was handcuffed.

The bullet-scarred, tattooed king of the hip-hop charts last year starred in a movie based on his life, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'."

The movie's title is the same as his 2003 debut CD, which sold 7.6 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, which tracks record sales. His three albums have sold 13.7 million records overall.

New York-born Jackson, who took the name 50 Cent after of a fabled Brooklyn thief, became the first artist to have four songs in the top 10 of Billboard's Hot 100 since the Beatles in 1964.

His spokeswoman did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment.

What is an emulator?

Well forget the fancy descriptions. Simply put, they act as if they are the original gaming console, but run from your hard drive instead. Basically, if you have an SNES (Super Nintendo) emulator, you can play SNES games on your computer with it.

How do you do that, you ask? It's not like the actual games have an insertion slot. There are files you play the games with, called roms.. All you have to do is find a rom for a game and open it with the emulator and play.

If we upgrade a little bit, and use let's say, a Playstation emulator rather than a SNES emulator, things change a little bit. For one, we no longer use "roms" instead, we use CD Image files, such as ISO, CCD, IMG, and other formats. These can be burned to discs and played as though they are the game itself, or may be "mounted" to a fake disc drive by a program such as Daemon Tools, which basically fools your computer into believing there is another disc drive, and that the mounted image file is a disk in that drive.

Of course, emulators have their advantage, such as no need for GameShark, or GameGenie etc. Many emulators have those built-in, so cheat away. Besides that luxury, most of them can save instances, so you can basically save whatever and whenever you want to. Even during cinematics or while the game is starting up! Obviously this is more convenient, but also allows for a far easier game if you like the idea of using it to cheat.

Now I have heard people bringing these beautiful creations up on here recently, hence the reason I decided to make this topic. However, I did not make it for the sheer purpose of giving a brief explanation as to what they are; I made it to provide help in getting them, and a little of my knowledge on some of the NES (regular Nintendo), SNES (Super Nintendo) emulators, playstation, and perhaps other emulators.

Just remember, the "rule" of emulators is that whatever game you download, you are supposed to have the real game for. It is otherwise illegal, and this board is in no way responsible if you decide to download any games illegally, or if you obtain malware/viruses/or your computer explodes as a result of doing so. Point the finger elsewhere.

I will start with NES. NES stands for Nintendo Entertainment System. A few popular titles you've heard of have started here, on this system. Such as Final Fantasy,  Dragon Warrior, or the Legend of Zelda.

I have gotten to liking the Jnes emulator the most. It has a decent cheat system, and is set up in a nice and orderly fashion. There are many others besides this one and I have tried many, if not all, of the major ones and I would recommend this one over the rest. That is my opinion and preference though, experiment for yourself to see what suites you best.

Here is a link to some NES emulators, Jnes is the third one down. I will note that the first one is also very good, but only experienced users may want to use it. (Not necessarily, but..)

Now, you have access to NES emulators, but what about roms? Well, there are many places all over the web that you can look for NES roms, but I will provide a link to some anyways.

One last thing, for those of you interested in the Dragon Warrior series. The first four are for NES, and I know a place that provides all four roms, plus walkthroughs, guides, maps, and just about anything you could want for the Dragon Warrior series. It's a really sweet site if you like the series!

Now for the SNES. SNES stands for Super Nintendo Entertainment System. This system has had countless games, and I can tell you from having played it for years since I was little, that this system holds some of the best games ever created. (not just my opinion! FACT! =P)

Now once again, I have tried various emulators for SNES. My personal favorite is the Snes9x. Once again I would recommend this one above the rest. Let me note, however, that the ZSNES is just as good and just as popular. Between the two of them, it really just depends on which one is more suitable to you.

What's an emulator without any roms to play it? Well, I'll tell you that my absolute favorite site for SNES roms WAS www.cherryroms.com, but the site is down. =( I am unsure whether or not it will ever be back up again. (probably not =( ) Like any other emulator roms can be obtained from various locations on the web, but I will nonetheless provide a link to a place with some of them.

As a side note, if you plan on using an SNES emulator and enjoy RPG's, I will recommend trying out Super Mario RPG, The Legend of the Seven Stars. It is an RPG, and one of my favorite games for the SNES. It's graphics are really excellent compared to most other SNES games.

There are various other good ones, these are RPG's. My mind is drawing blanks right now, sorry. =(

Sony Playstation! Also has countless games... really... countless. There are many emulators for the Playstation as you may have guessed. ePSXe is, without a doubt, my favorite.

Playstation Emulators are a little bit trickier than the ones we've already covered. For these we use CD Image files and we have about a billion plugins we can use to get games to function the way we want them to.

For a list of Playstation Emulators and information, plugins, tools, etc. regarding all of them:

A particular note about cheating with ePSXe, there are multiple plugins/add-ons you can use but there isn't one built in. The one I use is a seperate cheating program/plugin that can be used with ePSXe, but needs to be downloaded seperately. This basically allows you to use a system like GameShark. It's real easy to use, although I've only used it a couple of times.

One more thing to note. zlib1.dll file is missing! This error occurs when using ePSXe 1.7.0.0. To fix it, all you need to do is download the file and place it in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ folder. Keep in mind that is SYSTEM not System32!!!

There are numerous other emulators too. Such as ones for Sega, Gameboy, N64, Playstation 1,2, XBOX, etc. Just take a look around. ISO's and Roms can be found in many different places, if you are looking for something specific, and cannot find it, I urge you not to give up. Sometimes they can be difficult to obtain. When it comes to Playstation, you can most definitely take a game that you have a physical copy of, and make it into a playable ISO. However, I am not going to cover how to do that here, sorry.

As a last helpful little effort, I will provide you with some general links to help aid you in your searches.

Also, there is an emulator out there that can emulate buttons on your keyboard with a controller/joystick. I find it extremely useful when using ePSXe, because I have two buttons on my controller emulate my keyboard's quick save and quick load keys. As the emulator itself only allows you to change the hotkeys on the keyboard to other keys. It can be useful for various other emulators and situations as well, I like it so I can kick back and don't have to mess with the damn keyboard.

Well, today a new guild was created, and is in the final processes of it's creation.
The Old Fashioned Fighters Club is, like it's name implies, a guild based on an older, simpler style of fighting.

The guild is all melee, no spells, almost no buffs, and there are many restrictions. Many classes are disallowed for use in the club, and any character that is allowed to fight in the club must first go through evaluation and checked over.

The guild has it's own dueling rules, it follows all of the general GodSpire dueling rules, but with the addition of many. Guild members have guild characters, and then general GodSpire characters. The difference is that the general GodSpire characters are not allowed to participate in guild duels.

Guild getogether duels and meetings are held in a specific place. The duels can take place whenever more than one member is present. And can fight anwhere where allowed, with the duel manager, preferably halls, unless it's a getogether duel.

The guild consists of a council, which is made up of the three founders:

Realm of Darkness are some forums I go to. It is quite a small community at the moment, and is owned by my GF. It is a regular free forum/site from invisionfree. But if we have enough members and active people, we intend on buying a domain. Currently we have two admins, a moderator (global) and a shade.

Shades, basically cause a bit of mayhem in the Chaos section. They can only edit posts, and make people say weird things. Chaos is a section where you basically screw around and argue, flame, spam, whatever.

There are many sections for posting. Including a D&D campaign section, discussion sections, rant section, literature, comps & tech. And so on.

They are decent forums too, swearing is not filtered, but on topic posts and spam, and so in is moderated very well. There is not spam and trash everywhere, and they are quite organized and navigatable.

If someone decides to go there, you can easily tell who's me, HeLLMasteRHeLL.
I'd be glad to see some of ya there.

In addition, a "hacker" recently was released from jail, because of his young age, and will most likely be back at it. He was responsible for creating several worm viruses. Gamers are being targeted as well, and hackers know this to be a way to get control and access to more computers. Be wary.

So here I am, one of the 3 main sents on GodSpire, and few regulars left, posting about recent discussions and problems.

There has been a lack of people on GodSpire, a lack of players in general, and I have been told the same complaints again and again from new players, old players, regulars, and other sents. Previously the lack of players has been thought to be
from:

1. NWN Becoming Boring.
2. New Games Needing To Be Played.
3. Regulars & Sents Not Being Very Nice To People.
4. The Area Change

What about these?

1. So Let's Try To Keep It Interesting.
2. The Inevitable.
3. It Is Easy To Get Frustrated With Randomers/Noobs, So We Should Work On That Right?
4. Many People Dislike This. See Below.

From recent discussion with regulars and other sents, it has been identified that these things aren't the main issue, but a very small part of the problem. New people to GodSpire complain that the rules are too strict and are out of line. This, I do not believe to be true, but I have heard over and over. The new areas and changes to GodSpire, are confusing, pointless, and even annoying.

---Aman: Has no purpose, gets players lost.
---The city: Is unused, gets players lost, and is too far from the halls.
---The Docks: Are a great starting point, the boat to the city gets players lost.
---Angband: Needs to be easier to find and is not recognized as a randoming area, some Identification of this is needed.
---NPC's: Most of them do nothing and get in the way, the others have options such as wings/tails that dont work and need removing, and the new duel manager option needs to be fixed. The booting from an attack is also unnecessary as it may boot new players, who wont come back after that, fighting back is enough. The things they say need to be changed to suit each individual npc, and there are too many of them, they should remain in one place as well. They also need to stop taking rule books from a player when they get new equipment.
---Healing Lights: They should be as they used to be, they aren't often used anymore because no new players know what they are.
---Sentinels&Regulars: The fooling around because of boredom needs to be put at a halt, new players that watch this think it is ok and begin to do so, and when told to stop, do not understand because everyone else was or still is doing so. To fool around, sents and regs should go to Angband to show players that is where it is permitted, a sign would be helpful.
---The Rules: These may need some revising, I dont know, but besides that should also be put as an entry in the journal. Players are often used to seeing the rules in the journal from other servers, plus it makes a sound on entry, as such players often look there to see rules etc. Also a Sign at the entry to the halls saying the rules, whether in the description or when clicked on, or both, is something that may be very helpful, and might even do a better job at getting the players to read them, than the journal, or the books.
---The Library: This place is too hard to get to, nobody ever visits anymore besides myself and the random lost person. It has been expressed that it can still be a valuable area, if it is placed somewhere easy to find and get to. Along with that, some people decide that they will be noobish and take books from the shelves and resubmit them to other shelves or submit it again to the same shelf, duplicates have been in the shelves for months now, if possible a script to prevent a book with the same title from being re-submitted or submitted to other shelves, would solve this problem.
---Hall of Portals: The hall itself, is fine. The city is a bad place to have the portals, nobody goes there, and the people that do, are lost. A good place for the portals would be right in the halls of illuvatar, either having the area in the halls somewhere, or having the portals in a certain area of the halls.
---House of the Bear, Marauders Base & The Smiling Horse inn: It has been said that the house was too small of a base for the Marauders, it has also been said that a different area should be made for the Marauders. In either case two inns are not needed and both are too far off in the halls.
---Spellhold: I cannot think of the name for it, but that matters little. When this area was accessable, it wasnt used, and it has been expressed that it isnt needed.
---Dungeons: It has been said they are too hard, and are only good if you are bored from the server being empty, but since it clearly cannot be done alone, does not work as such. It has also been said it was a fun thing at first, but once gone through is old and doesnt really serve a purpose.
---Angband Gates: In Angband there is an old area with gates etc. this no longer has any purpose and can be removed. But it is my thought, that since some Marauders want a new base, and this is already present, that it could be transformed into a suitable base. Though, this isnt entirely important.
---Map: All areas should have proper map notes identifying the area, and in some cases, a little about them. For example on the map, in the halls, a map note where the door to Angband is saying: "Angband, Randoming Area" or "Angband, Randoming Allowed" etc.
---New Areas: New areas should probably be brought up on LM with a poll, and with feedback for the new area. Then this way the areas can get needed changes and or additions/deletions before it is even created, and even after creation.
---Items: The items being dropped and disappearing is something that I myself like, others may not agree on this. I believe though that the items in barter should not disappear, if getting rid of the script when items are dropped will fix this, then it should be done.

I believe that covers many, general problems, and things that people have brought up, discussed, or mentioned. That certaintly isn't everything, and I am sure I missed some things, but I did my best.

The main factor in all this is competition, GodSpire is losing it's old players, but not gaining any new ones. The Antediluvians Homeworld is doing better, but not by alot, and are losing players to other servers as well. Places like Chaotic World, Antiworld, and even Combat Central are getting more players than GodSpire, and are the main reasons for that. Chaotic World alone gets 40+ players at a time, and Antiworld, although I dont know its capacity, was full earlier today, and that was the reason some of it's players come to us, CC, the last time I checked was in the teens, and even CM has been getting more players than we have, the other day I seen 14 people there, while GodSpire was empty. As such GodSpire needs to keep up with the times, and draw in the crowd, it isnt so much that nwn is boring, with how many players these servers have, it certaintly doesnt appear so. Quoting someone else, "GodSpire is old, and is out of date." This is something that can be fixed, that is why I am here expressing the opinions of people who love GodSpire and dont want it to be empty and hollow like it has this past month.

Although many people have said these things and talked about them, I was asked to be the one to bring them up, and so I am doing so.
These are the expressed opinions of myself, DarkJimbo, other sents who I will not name, out of respect, since they did not know about me creating discussion about this, many regulars, and random new people to GodSpire, or even to the game, who have visited the server and expressed their opinions on it.

It seems to have happened to a few different people now, but it seems no matter what npc they ask for equipment they dont get anything. I think one told me he got them but lost them the same moment. The only thing  that these people have in common, is they are all human males that share the same head type and are lvl 20 or under. One tried dying and doing it, and even relogging, but it didnt work.

Anyone have any input as to why?
