In any instance there is always another instance in which someone would want/need (depending on perception) an explanation.

Unless of course the statement is self explanatory as opposed to nonsensical.
I have provided some randomly selected examples below:

He's Re-tar-red.
Nonsensical

The upside is that designers have more control over the landscape and the areas are more "immersive" (that is, they look a lot more like the real world). While the outdoor PWCs can get pretty big, I doubt it's got much to do with server load.

-Throbblefoot

Im surprised they didnt go the whole hog and frce people to download the mod's as well.....

How could they be stupid enough to overlook the fact that they would need to server up PWC on a per area basis, as the original did with just the areas.

I dare say you still have to wait for area transition while its downloading that?

Idiotic.

I just done some reading, and read something about tilesets.
Are these subject to walkmeshes, or is it just exterior terrain?
If you build a tileset only mod, do you need a walkmesh?
Are there outdoot tilesets?

There are programs for distribution of the .pwc files. Its actually quite easy to use and fast.

If you trust the source of the program, and everyone used it, then i suppose that would be ok.
Ideally it should be integrated into the client. How on earth could they overlook that?

Do you NEED a walkmesh file, or can you build a mod that uses standard meshes?

Additinally, if you are relying on the data in the visitors pwc to be correct, doesnt this mean that they could just modify it and walk through walls, etc.

I still havent upgraded by PC to be able to play NWN2, althouhg I may do so shortly.
What exactly are the problems with NWN2 multiplayer that are preventing us from having a good PvP server again?
Im sure they must be pretty major if mo doesnt even have nwn2 installed any more!

How long is awhile? We just had the discussion about them not being fixed only a week ago.

Well, we'll see what happens. I want to try it, but not just yet.

I think it had actually been fixed before we posted about it.
Just wait until its officially released to be sure it works fine.

I just found out that there is another server that is pretty much an exact clone of the current official servers.
It is run by the same people and the server is called Demise.
It has all the skills and the elven race in this one as well, so Im going to have a go at playing it.
It only has 300 people vs 1000 online average, but thats find for me as I prefer PvM and socializing anyway.

There are two facets on this server - trammel (non-pvp) and felucca (full pvp), so you can get the best of both worlds

Im setting up an account as I speak!

if it's like this then oke

if it's like this then hell no!!!

They are both the same game and play exactly the same way.
The top version is using the 3d client, which is not supported on the free server.
Its only the graphics that are different.

I wouldnt not play the game because of the graphics - thats not what its about

Talon could you explain a bit more about Ultima online??

How is the leveling? How are the quests? are they all the same or is there enough diversity?

What professions can you learn?
The game is free2play I assume?
Is there a main storyline to follow like Guildwars?
What kind of classes can you choose??
Are there mounts?
Are there enough different skins of weapons and armor??

Its skill-based not levelbased. There are over 50 skills including begging(!), inscription, blacksmithy, tailoring, fencing, lumberjack, wrestling, magery, etc, etc, etc, of which you can mix and match.

Free to download the client from the official site, and free to play on 3rd party servers. I play on www.uogamers.com - Hybrid. Ive only been playing since yesterday and its a whole lot of fun.

I am not questing myself, as I personally prefer just slaying monsters. The quests are pretty cool from my recollection - including useful items like pet summoningballs, etc.

There is no main storyline per-se - its very non-linear.

There are loads of mounts and pets - including nightmares (dark magical horses) and dragons!!

The weapon and armour variety is exceptional, although there is obviously not the graphic detail of something like guildwars you can still have a very distinctive appearance.

Its just whole lot of fun - come play!

If you log on im currently in jhelom fishing at the port - im practicing my hide skill so people dont try looting me while im fishing.

You ever played it?

Having played Ultima Online many years ago, and bored with the lack of decent free MMORPGs, im thinking of getting back into it.

UOGamers.com run a free UO shard, that generally has between 800 and 1200 players on at any one time.

I find it the most realistic fantasy MMORPG, with a simple magic system, skill based levelling and some really great crafting. Im happy to teach you the ropes if you want to get started

Anyone care to join me there?
I must warn you that UO can be crazily addictive!

Well, if Sir Talon recommends it i'll give it a go.

EDIT: Well im editing this post using Safari. I must say I am somewhat impressed, even being a beta it is much faster. And pages are far more smooth and silky. I am on 1280x1024.

Cheers for the link Matt.

As Mo mentioned, there are known vulnerabilities at the moment that could put your PC at risk.
I wouldnt recommend using it until these bugs are fixed. Having said that, its still probably safer than IE!

What makes it better than Firefox or Opera?

From my personal experience of Safari (which is based on konqueror), I find it a lot faster, more intuitive, and with a better and more accurate rendering engine than either Firefox or Opera.

When it comes to day-to-day browsing, it uses less system memory than firefox meaning I can do a lot more, a lot faster without page-swapping.

When it comes to development of webapps, I build for safari off the base, as its less quirky rendering means that my layout is accurate to web guidelines - I then just add the css quirks for other browsers afterwards.

I wouldnt be put off by these security issues in the long term - it was only 1.5 months ago that Firefox had similar issues. Speaking of which, make sure you have updated your firefox recently.

Just give it a whirl when it is released as stable, and see for yourself :)

Not so fast.  Zero day security bugs exist in Safari.

Don't let the Apple spin-machine take you for a whirl.
Stick with Firefox =)

Pfft!
Well - when they fix the immediate bugs go for it.
It is truly the best browser bar none.
