Guild Wars News / Healing Signet
« on: November 18, 2004, 07:11:07 PM »
I have recently been invited to be an Alpha tester as I am in a developers guild along with some names you may recognize such as, Andrew Patrick, Gaile Gray and Spooky Electric. As an alpha tester, I can inform you all on minor changes ahead of time as long as it is in accordance with the NDA.

The first bit of information I can relay is: The Warrior skill "Healing Signet" is now tied to the Tactics attribute as opposed to the Strength attribute.

This can have a considerable effect on Warriors.

I was very impressed by the smoothness of the gameplay. Some of the most recent screenshots can be found at a Guild Wars elite fansite I also moderate at. The link below is to a topic at this fansite entitled "The end of beta screenshots." I hope you like them. :)

Guild Wars General / just some questions
« on: November 10, 2004, 08:42:08 PM »
1. "Yes you will. We are well aware that many users do not have broadband access, and we want the largest possible number of gamers to be able to join our game without being held back by technical issues like their internet connection. We have designed Guild Wars to function excellently on a dial-up connection and our testers have confirmed that they have no problems with their connection, even testing from other continents. In addition, during our E3 for Everyone Demo Event, our World Preview Event and our Beta Weekend Event, many thousands of players successfully played using a dial-up modem." - www.guildwars.com -

2. Yes, they use dynamic patching techniques in-game. There should be no lag during gameplay as it is often done during transitional events, such as, area transitions.

3. There are a wide variety of skills and although it is possible to learn all of these skills for your given class mix, considering that any and all games have their limitations, it would require a great deal of gameplay and in depth analysis.

Guild Wars News / Tabards Replaced
« on: November 03, 2004, 03:35:54 PM »
Alpha tester "Spooky Electric," has announced that while testing this morning (Nov. 3rd) she witnessed a group of players with guild capes. Personally, I like the idea of capes, but the option of a couple of other guild display types and the ability to toggle them on/off would be convenient.

Guild Wars General / Beta Event
« on: November 02, 2004, 10:23:20 PM »
The WPE Oct. 29-31 has officially came to an end. I found it to be enough of a preview for me to purchase this game when it is released early 2005. It is rumored that there will be another public WPE scheduled for Nov. 26-28. I will keep you up to date on this subject.

It is possible to recieve the preorder bonus package now, upon making a deposit toward GW from selected retail sources, or you can purchase the bonus package seperately as I have. There will be beta events reserved for those with the bonus package every first weekend of the month until GW is released, as well as, some other bonuses.

For full details about the preorder bonus package click here.

So there were high level dragons :( I looked for them but never found the damn things.

When you reach the explorable area of the "Sage Lands," you must travel through it to reach the "Misty Wall." After making it to this area travel straight through the general path to reach the "Majesty's Resting Spot." In this area you will find some very difficult creatures including level 18 Bone Dragons, Necrid Riders, Ghouls, Zombie Warlocks, and some Bone Minions. After you complete this challenge, continue forward and you will find the level 30 Bone Dragon Boss along with 4 Bone Dragon Minions.

Guild Wars News / Beta Event Approaching
« on: November 02, 2004, 07:08:23 PM »
For those of you who have the preorder bonus package, there will be a beta event taking place this weekend beginning Nov. 6th. The ability to reserve your player name will be available starting this upcoming beta event. However, the unique item from your preorder bonus package will not be available until the game is released.

The beta event will start at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Standard Time Saturday morning and will conclude at Midnight Pacific Standard Time on Sunday night. It will be possible to set up your new account, or access the same account from the World Preview Event to reserve it.

Account information from the World Preview Event was saved. You can only retrieve the World Preview Account information by participating in one of the first two beta events, otherwise you will be able to set up a new account.

Characters from the World Preview Event will be intact with their names, levels and items in place. There will be a character wipe, which will reset each character to level 1 sometime before the game is released, but all names will be reserved.

For complete upcoming beta event information click here.
