General Gaming / Music in games
« on: September 04, 2007, 02:15:39 PM »
I found myself searching and extracting music from various games last week. Some tracks appeal me cause they are nostalgic to me, other cause they are just jewels to listen to.

Some games I found nice things in:
    Command & Conquer
    Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun
    Earth 2140
    Total Annihilation
    Homeworld: Cataclysm
    Baldurs Gate: Throne of Bhaal
    Lomax
    Doom
    Doom II
    Guild Wars: Nightfall
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
    Unreal Tournament[/li]
And I'm looking for suggestions. Good soundfonts are welcome too as some games use midi files.

Also, if you ever wanted to have a piece of music from a game you own on your playlist, but can't get it out the game, be sure to tell, maybe someone knows how.

Random Ranting / Off topic trash
« on: August 04, 2005, 12:16:23 PM »
Good points of the old server were it technical parts (as well scripting as hardware/software), the amount of newbies that rejoined and kept playing on the server, just the amount of players, and that the server was simple.
To play it boiled down to:
-don't random, stay nice (common sense)
-500k limit - no resist - no immumes (you can use the generic stuff if you don't get it)
-run into the first big and only door you see, and you're where you want to be, and want to stay.

And if you ask me what happend to the old GodSpire... Talon stopped hosting, and I think a few poeple did a nice job blowing up the rest of a good server, without themself realizing it. Changing back, to match the old GodSpire, stopping with changing it all the time, and giving new players (newbies) a warm welcome, is probably what can keep GodSpire from dieing.

Quote
On another note: When Talon came in the other day, he mentioned that he was the one who created "Xen's Portable Stool". Mo, Xen, if this is true, I ask you to change it. It's slightly disrespectful to leave it as "Xen's Portable Stool" if it should be "Talon's Portable Stool."

Anyway, nice post (Hell's too), and I'm happy to see Talon isn't completly death ;)
Sigh, I miss a lot of the old players. Anyone saw Raven? Or Ludo...
I bet Cab still doesn't knows where his nwn-cd's are.

GodSpire General / Mel
« on: March 26, 2005, 05:54:14 PM »
@Meclar
I not really get why I'm metioned with technical support concerning GodSpire. As far I know, I barley had the possibility to help GodSpire on this point. Actually the poeple running GodSpire now made clear that they don't want me to help them at all. If you read the post here, and you know that I'm removed as dm not long afther that, then it's more than clear. Also, removing me seems me something relevant, but I never saw anything from Mo. Something I dislike a lot.

I don't like mindless pvp, neither I like standing on a square, waiting to get randomed. (things I can do in GodSpire right now), I'm happy that the things about Cm showed up, it keeps a bit live in this place for me. I always wondered what Cm was like since I saw a few players during the switch to patch 1.64.

You mention me with technical support and GodSpire while I barley did anything in that direction. It's not even something like "hosting Arivs while GodSpire is down".

Nothing wrong with what you said , but it pretty much shows how I waste my time.

Feedback & Community / IP blocked?
« on: March 01, 2005, 11:15:06 AM »
Seems like my IP is blocked or something. It's just from today, I could acces the server fine before. Maybe Mo can take a look at it? (I'm using a server in the us to get on right now)

Btw, using 1000 as port is a bit weird, usual they don't use ports under 1024.

Feedback & Community / Lower activity from my side.
« on: February 18, 2005, 06:14:53 PM »
I'm going to be more unactive than I already was. At least on this part of the "world".

It's mostly because I have much responsibility on a bit evrything around me. And some important of them require more and more time. I have to drop a few, and the games are the first to go. I won't disapear from the face of the world, but go out of the point that you won'tl see me frequently.

Also means that I don't mind if I won't keep my current rights on godspire or lucidmagic. Know that removing me is the same as saying you don't need me, I won't (and won't be able to) support anymore in that case, and readding isn't a option. It also would be polite to tell me in case you changed something relevant. But again, I won't mind about a change. (Mostly directed to Mo and Nathan.)

If you need me, whatever the reazon might be, I'll frequently check the arivs site. And don't get me wrong, I'm not gone, just occupied whit a lot of things. And I love to be a student. ^_^

(only reply if you have something relevant to say, thanks)

WoW General / Re-add of the old posts
« on: February 16, 2005, 04:29:09 PM »
I added the old posts in here again, origenal the posts were spread over 3 subforums. Because there are not much topics and posts, I added them all in this subforum of WoW General.

The layout was like this:

World Of Warcraft
|
|--    WoW General
|    (Anything and Everything on WoW. Discuss all the tactics in this new MMORPG.)
|
|--    WoW Horde and Alliance
|    (Which side are you on? Discuss tactics and strategy here.)
|
|--    WoW Characters
|    (Discuss all builds and stats here.)

I hope the forum will be usefull :)

Arivs / Arivs is running
« on: February 07, 2005, 11:01:27 AM »
I'm running arivs at the moment. I won't run it 24/7, as it run on 2 computers and makes 5 harddisks spin for just a stupid gameserver. (talking about wasting resources) But you can look for it under action.

If really needed I might make it a 24/7 service, but only if badly needed. When GodSpire is running fine again I shut it down.

Feedback & Community / Skins
« on: February 06, 2005, 05:05:33 PM »
I wonder what skin poeple like the most, knowing it can help me to look at what I can improve (if it's needed). All suggestion related to the look and feel of the site may go here too. There a load I could do, I just don't know where to start.

All other idea's are welcome in the feedback forum.

Well is it just me or did Gashmo provide the most in depth answer to the original post?

I'm not saying gashmo never post something usefull. (even zen and hell do) The post was aimed to hell and just a conclusion of me out of the post of other poeple that complain about gashmo's spam that happens time to time. But you have a point if you say that most of gashmo's post could be seen as acceptable. Just oppinions aren't the same of evryone. And I want to exlude the "laugh with the tsunami's deaths" topic of gashmo.

Zen, gashmo and hell are seen as spammers to some poeple on this forum, you want to say it's not? I just stated that fact.

But I know already that evry effort to reduce spam and crap on this forum gets ruine or gets a huge load of complains. Some poeple leave lm for that reazon, I rather want the problem makers out than the poeple that just don't like to see junk evrywhere.

If it's really asking too much for the admins that I mod a bit in here, I have no problems with stopping to mod/admin the forum and keep it with getting this forum running again within a few hours when it does crash (again). Atm, evrything I do, going from adding skins (that get deleted) and getting the forum running (to see it crash again) to things like flamewars (afther a effort to moderate a bit) make me wonder why I'm admin in here as evrything gets destroyed anyway.

It's a offensif reply, I know, I'm not trying to offend you mo, but I just want to be very clear what I think of a few things in here that somewhat irritate me. And do me a favor and don't start a flamewar or something close to it about this. I'll be happy with a respond like, I (don't) like you as admin. I don't need to know more and won't bother to read more than that.

And I posted this in flamewars because real flamewars tend to happen less fast in this subforum as in other forums. And it's at once well placed here in case it happesn anyway.

Doriath / Subforum change
« on: January 31, 2005, 07:21:17 PM »
I moved everything inside a subforum, password is the same for the subforum. If I should change the name or description of the subforum, tell me. Same in case of the passwd, if you can remeber the passwd, look in your pm's or ask a other clanmember.

I'll take of the passwd on the subforum doriath in godspire when requested here.

I quote the post whit the request of a subforum:
Quote
The advancment topic is gone. It was no longer of any use. The roster does have inappropriate content in it so i would make a copy of the roster only to put for public viewing. Maybe one or two  topics would become private.

If someone is willing to create a sub-forum in the sub-forum that is passworded i would move all the topics.

If anything is wrong, all changes can be undone again.

Arivs / Arivs up/down
« on: January 04, 2005, 12:27:20 AM »
Just had a nice kernel panic on the arivs server.

This isn't anything fatal to the server as I only have to restart it. But I somewhat dislike that it crash and I want to sniff a bit around on it to see what I can do. Maybe reinstalling/reconfigurating stuff.

Other words, arivs will be down (as the server isn't hosting)
I'll post here when it's back running. If you really die of not having the server up, you may post that too :P

Poeple can join slaughterhouse or justbehaves server (or who know, gs, if it gets up)

note: slaughterhouse isn't finished and need some work, as I did get in a char whit 134 ac that has only 83 on arivs/gs.

NwN Building / NwN and arrays?
« on: December 31, 2004, 04:31:55 PM »
I'm scripting something and it's getting huge.
Adding an array would make it so much smaller and easyer, but the nwncompiler doesn't likes them. Gives a nice error when I declare one.

Useing structures won't help either. And I'm not going to use SQL for it, that's just messed up, useing a database for variables that only have to exist as long the script runs.  <_<

I wonder if it's just impossible to use arrays with the toolset. As I can't use pointers either. No pointers -> no arrays seems logical.

I'm going to look in biowares forum a bit if I can find something, but would be nice if some knows about it here. But I don't think I'll find a way to use arrays in the nwntoolset.

Arivs / Sents
« on: December 27, 2004, 01:09:07 AM »
Just let a dm know you wouldn't have anything against it to be sent and keep it whit that if you like to be one. If there's need of sents you can get invited. Just don't keep running around me or mo asking to be sent (or dm)....

And if you see a gap somethimes, that can happen. Even when we make 50% of the poeple sent. I rahter think I should make some work of giving the rules a facelift, to make them easyer to read.

Arivs / Holy avenger
« on: December 22, 2004, 07:51:47 PM »
Holy avenger should work like this recording to the games manual:
-- for paladin --
--> +5 enhancement bonus
--> 1d6 holy damage (doesn't say only vs evil in the manual   )
--> onhit dispel
-- non-paladin --
--> +2 enhancement bonus

How it works in nwn:
-- for paladin --
--> +5 enhancement bonus
--> 1d6 holy damage vs evil
--> onhit dispel
-- non-paladin --
--> +2 enhancement bonus
--> onhit dispel

The dispel onhit for non-pala's seems a problem to some poeple, changing it will probably have the item property nerfed below the +2 enhancement bonus for non-pala.

I like to know what others think. Myself, I not really care about it. It helps against acid sheat for other classes and doesn't unbalance. And it's not changed on gs.

Feel free to give a comment why you vote for something.

NwN General / 1.65
« on: December 13, 2004, 02:18:17 PM »
New patch out, I'm waiiting for the linux client to get out of beta to upgrade. I hope they didn't break as much as they did on every other patch...

-Mel

Out of the patch's file:

Neverwinter Nights v1.65

Patch details:
Neverwinter Nights Game
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
WARNING! AS OF THIS PATCH, ALL MODULES CREATED/SAVED WITH THE VERSION 1.65 TOOLSET ARE TAGGED AS REQUIRING VERSION 1.65 OR HIGHER OF NEVERWINTER NIGHTS GAME OR TOOLSET.
IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BRAND YOUR MODULE AS 1.65 THEN DO NOT EDIT YOUR MODULE IN THE VERSION 1.65 TOOLSET.
IF YOU WANT TO GO BACK TO 1.64, WE WILL HAVE A 1.65 TO 1.64 PATCH AVAILABLE.
- Added Stormy Skybox to game resources.
- Fixed a crash that could happen when you had enabled SubNetProfiling (by setting "Enable SubNet Profiling=1" in your nwn.ini file).
- Fixed an issue with server vault saves causing various problems for shifted characters.
- Fixed a crash related to calling GetHasSpell() on spells that have an innate level of 10 in the spells.2da
- Fixed a crash caused by calling SetSkyBox() in a multiplayer game while a player was still on the Character Select screen.
- Slight change of behavior for Attacks Of Opportunity. Now if have an invisibility effect applied (e.g. Invisibility, Sanctuary) you will no longer make attacks of opportunity.
- Another change to AOO behavior. You will no longer take an AOO while you are using a healing kit.
- Circle Kick should no longer try to target creatures that you can not reach (which was making you become flat footed).
- Whirlwind attack will no longer leave you stuck in combat mode after using it. You will now also try to reaquire your original target after a Whirlwind attack (may not succeed if your target is now dead or gone).
- Damage Shields (e.g. Mestil's Acid Sheath ) now affect the melee attacker when the attacker hits the creature that has a damage shield (rather than only when they damage the shielded creature).
- Fixed an issue where respawning encounters would stop working under certain circumstances when saving and reloading the game.
- Fixed an issue with unlimited ammo not being identified when you equipped a weapon that had the unlimited ammo property.
- Fixed an issue with some single shot traps not applying damage correctly.
- Fixed a crash that would occur when an NPC tried to drop a container on the ground.
- Fixed an issue with True Seeing being removed incorrectly when you had mutliple True Seeing effects stacked and only one of them was supposed to be removed.
- Fixed an issue with some effects from Haste (extra attacks and spell casting benefits) not being updated correctly when you had multiple haste effects applied and only one of them was removed. Fixed the same issue for multiple Slow effects as well.
- Fixed an issue with size modifiers affecting your attack bonus when making Knockdown attacks. The size modifiers now only affect the opposed roll to resist the Knockdown attack.
- Effects being dispelled should now properly use the caster level when determining whether the dispel succeeds or not
- Fixed an issue with the Epic Dodge feedback messages for melee attacks that were being evaded.
- Fixed an issue where your screen could become permanently blacked out under certain circumstances after unpossessing a familiar that was inside an AOE darkness effect.
- Fixed some issues where the Darkness spell, when combined with Ultravision/True Seeing, could under specific circumstances incorrectly make you blind when your Ultravision/True Seeing wore off.
- Fixed "On Hit: Sleep" item property, so that it works again.
- Made some fixes to prevent game/character hacking. Sorry, but we will never publicly discuss specific changes to the game with regards to hacking the game.

DM Client:
=-=-=-=-=-
- The DM difficulty slider tooltip will now display the current difficulty setting
- Fixed a crash that could happen when minimizing the game.
- Fixed an issue with issuing commands to groups of creatures (such as trying to make them run).
- Fixed an issue where the DM's screen could end up being permanently blacked out after the DM unpossessed a creature that was inside an AOE darkness effect.

Neverwinter Nights Aurora Toolset:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
- Added new GetSkyBox(), GetFogColor(), GetFogAmount() and SetFogAmount() scripting commands.
- Fixed a problem with variables being lost from items that were placed inside a container.
- Fixed a "List index out of bounds (0)" error that could occur when there were no sounds in the sound list on the Sound Properties menu.
- The scripting command GetName() now works with stores.
- The scripting command GetItemPossessedBy() now works with stores.
- GetEffectType() will now return EFFECT_TYPE_ETHEREAL for the greater sanctuary effect (was incorrectly returning EFFECT_TYPE_SANCTUARY).
- Fixed the following scripting commands to return the correct information (they were reversed before): GetAnimalCompanionName(), GetAnimalCompanionCreatureType(), GetFamiliarName(), GetFamiliarCreatureType(). If you recompile any scripts that use these scripting commands, you will need to update your scripts to use the new (proper) functionality.
- Fixed an issue with GetSpellSaveDC() returning the DC of any new spell cast (or feat used) by the creator of an AOE spell when called from within the AOE's heartbeat script (rather than returning the DC of the originally cast AOE spell).
- Extended the scripting command EffectHeal(), so that it now also works on doors and placeables.
- Fixed a couple of issues with the ResistSpell() scripting command:
    - First issue occurred when it was called from within an AOE heart beat script after the caster had cast a new spell since casting the original AOE spell, the AOE spell could stop working under these conditions (it should now work properly).
    - Second issue was with the spell immunity check not returning the proper result when called with the caster object specified as an AOE object.

Scripting-specific:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
- Bigby's Grasping/Crushing Hand spells now properly affect creatures that are immune to mind affecting spells (x0_s0_bigby3.nss, x0_s0_bigby5.nss).

Arivs will be down till there's back need of it. The current load on gs and arivs is too low. As long gs runs and isn't filled up there's no direct need of arivs anyway
( and I need the computer tommorow)

If you badly need to have arivs running, whatever the reazon can be, give a sign.

I hear a lot of players saying they get banned whitout knowing from CM, I dunno how those guys manage it, to ban a load of players whitout them knowing why...
Anyone has any idea?
And pls don't post something like 'CM suxx', that makes no sence. I want to hear, best of someone who plays there, what they want from players. Maybe they have a site/forum?

Just a little bit   all those bans...

ps: Did post this here because it doesn't fits in the gs forum and would have been off-topic.

GodSpire General / Build/Cheapness Discussion
« on: October 01, 2004, 03:34:48 PM »
I like the idea of it, about starting duel whit some more restictions. But I don't like how negatif poeple act to hiders and so because they can use hips. They can be as fair as any other build in a duel. And some just generalize it by saying they all suxx. (just taking hiders as example) I useual don't use wof/harm/conseal/damage spells while I can, because hips on it's own already makes the char fine enough, my idea behind it is, if they can spot me I use somthing else, if they counter that, I use a other things and so on. How closer the duel how better. Just a example again.

I think a load of poeple in gs already try to make duel as close and fair as possible. That start whit: "
we will prolly use the farm area for us legit duels" sounds like, "the others are illigal", really didn't like that. (and yes maybe i'm the only one who understood it like that) Anyway, if they idea is to have fair duels, i'm for it. If it's to start a guild that see themself as better and can't stand poeple who use other things, nothx, but it won't be that, no? :P

note: Anyone knows a good way to chill down? I really need that I think.
