ThrobbleServ / The server
« on: November 08, 2004, 01:16:29 PM »

Nice original server! Well built and scripted. I went on yesterday for the first time and I experienced no lag while dueling.

The only small change I would suggest is a filter akin to GS (since some of my items with True Seeing & SR32 got through-as well as all my 12 ac resist gear).

 Other than that nice job.

NwN General / Thanks Talon thread
« on: November 06, 2004, 04:45:46 PM »

Here, here *knock on his desk*. Well said mate. I would like to second the sentiment about Talon, in fact let me tell you a little story about when I first met Tal.

Back in the dawn of NWN On-line GS was one of the first servers up. I joined GS for the first time and in all my n00b glory I hit up Talon on a how-to on the 3rd party program LETO. He went to great lengths and even greater patience to explain to me the details.

BTW Jay will be hosting a brand new mod any second.

Ahh the Planeswalkers, *looks far into the distance*. I was in the Planeswalkers (Planeswalker Crane) and was let in by the founder Abyss and trained by their best Pvper's (Wind, Blizzard, Damien, Cain, etc..) They were by far the best clan in SOU.

Necriss was the undisputed power house clan of pre-SOU (especially under Jonas). From mid SOU under the Mephisto they started to break apart (especially once Mephisto stopped playing NWN for L2!). IN HOTU I led the Necriss but recently I have gave the reigns of power to the 'Council' and focusing on other things..

Did you always play under the name gashmo?

Again you drag me out to respond. Could you just die already? Or perhaps go play in traffic...or better yet wet your feet in the shower then stick a fork in the toaster.

Ban me for one single minute on GS and I will never play there again and I will tell the handfull of guys I know still play there to refrain from playing there due to a typing primate known as '420'.

I dont know NWN builds? LOL I invented most of the popular builds out right now and I played NWN-Online as an Alpha Tester.

But why give pearls to pigs? Do me a favor Nathan and lock this thread already bud.

 True Trobble true.

And "420" I have been going on GS almost everyday in the past week, a couple of times I saw you on with your 40 Monk ROFL. Please, duel me anytime you want but I wont be surprised if you pull out every cheap trick in the book to put down this old salty dog^^

The wording didn't need to be changed around to make your posts seem ridiculous.

I dont know what keeps drawing me back to respond to your idiocy? Sheer morbid curiosity? Or the fact that I pity you?[/span].

Not only that, but Nathan offered me an admin possition last night. Which, if I had accepted, would have resulted in certain people being permanently banned from these forums.

[span style=\'color:blue\']

 Again your veiled threats just amplify your stupidity. I dont care that I seem to irk you by revealing how dumb you really are and how you attack others for no apperant reason. You are the classic example of what type of person you DO NOT want moderating forums for the following reasons;

*You attack people unwarranted, threaten to punish them on forums and servers alike.

*You think you cannot be second guessed. And if someone dares have a different opinion than you, you browbeat and harass.

Please take the example of Moderators and Administrators on this forum (i.e Nathan, Toki, etc..) who can actually moderate soberly and rationally and not act like the local bully who smashes everyone (funny, this is the same complaint people have of some of the administrators on GS).

 Its called abuse of power.

Can you define "tampering"?

. Oh, and if Crane was one of those people, thank God, we didn't need him spewing his vile abuse here either.

First let me start by saying I dont normally "spew" vile and in fact I am as soft and cuddly and harmless as a kitten. I only "spew/curse" when extremely agitated as the situation I had with 420 on that one thread when I felt I got thrashed and attacked for simply responding and posting my thoughts on his thread.

Secondly yes my posts were directly tampered with with even the wording being changed around to make my posts seem ridiculous. This led me to stop posting on LM altogather since if this was the style of moderation, I want nothing of it.

Lastly, Nathan has assured me he has restored order and hence I am proud to say I read/post here again.

Aye I concur, a multi-optional clan display would be best. I would like to see the clan logo (large) on the actual armor and completely configurable as far as color etc.

NwN General / D&D vs. NWN spells
« on: October 05, 2004, 05:57:41 PM »

Uuum actually I have not. Since 99% of On-line forums dont have a lot of silly rules especially against cursing.

Learn how to seperate reality from fantasy. This is a On-line Video game forum for Christ's sake not the quarterly progress report to the CEO.

But I forget some of you guys seem to live on a whole different wave-length and seemingly do not hear when the bell rings to go to your next classroom.

Well Im sorry if I have offended your sensibilities but A, I dont like to be ridiculed and threatened and B I dont like my posts to be edited to change my wording around 'crane_inbred hillbilly'.

And go talk to whomever you want to talk to '420',  I am sure that when they see the entire argument (in context without my words being edited and jumbled around) they will understand just why I am "foaming" at the mouth and cursing like a *delteted* sailor.

You asked about the difference in spell functions from the official D&D rules and NWN Online.

 I responded with my "ramblings".

You apperantly cannot make a bridge to connect 2 thoughts. And dont threaten me that you wil hunt me down and punish me on Godspire you *delteted*

I am simply responding to a thread here *delteted*. If you cannot understand posts and how they relate to your low level comments that is not my fault *delteted* go take that up with the doctor who dropped you on your *delteted*_

Easy enough for you to understand?

 Ramblings;

Since the start we noticed that NWN was not a mirror-image of D&D official rules and minutea. NWN never stated to be an exact replica of the D&D engine.

Personally, nothing will ever compare to the D&D games we had in the 80's. Since no consule will ever be more LUCID than the film of imagination.

NwN General / Legit PVP dead????
« on: August 12, 2004, 11:42:07 AM »

Alright this debate has dragged me out of my usual slumber of posting on forums. I like facts, minutea and details, especially when verifyable and correct. I dont like mere name calling and cheap shots since it makes one look like a slack jawed fool.

Let me throw my weight into the discussion and expound on how I see the state of Pvp at the moment. I have been playing NWN On-Line since the beta test servers back in mid-late 2001. I have played on nearly every server, across the board on every genre, Arena, Role-Playing, even the mysterious Tech Support Channel LOL.

Jay's old Pvp was excellent in my view not because of its build (which was manifestly simple and non-flashy) or its regulations which were basic and it did NOT sport awsome scripts, (besides the stat-checker which I oh-so-loved). The simple reason I loved Jay's Pvp was because of the quality of competition there at the time.

In contrast, Godspire is excellent due to its great competition as well, astounding filter and player database, good scripts, and good build. My only contentions with GS are minor and regulatio-related.

On the whole, bravo to Jay and bravo to Talon for making Arena Pvp exciting and good to return to. Jay is definately reworking a new mod (which is a hundred times better than his old mod) and I am sure we can expect good new additions from Talon on GS.

like i was saying ealyer, they should make a new area for mage duels or make like angban or doriath a place for mage battles only, there will be less lag in the halls where other classes can duel

 True that ^O. Talon.....?

GodSpire General / A Suggestion?
« on: August 05, 2004, 12:42:35 PM »

Well I guess this can be better phrased as a question. Is there something that can be done about the nasty lagg experienced when say....about 20 ppl are on the server? Perhaps creating off-shoots for the main Pvp area? Maybe sharing servers and capping ppl at 16 each?

Anyways, it gets so bad sometimes one can hardly duel. I have lost a couple that way with lag spikes.

Finally, I want to thank all the peeps that have made my entrance into GS (after playing NWN for 2 years enjoyable), Wudan, Talon, Raven, Nate, Nehu, BatnTheHat, and many more...

Guild Wars General / When Is It Out?

Sorry to disappoint, but currently that feature is not available (I doubt it ever will be actually). Given the amount of information of high level detail that the Guild Wars environment has, it is inpropable that hosting you own server would be possible, despite the amazing technology implemented to allow even the slowest internets access to this game. Even in Neverwinter Nights though, a game who has outdated graphics and particle effects (still a great game though  B) ) still suffers from lag spikes and can only house a small and perhaps moderate amount of players depending on the host's internet connection.

As far as scripting goes, this also would be highly unlikely, if even considered. At the moment there is not going to be a toolset for any type of editing whether it be items to monsters, to landscapes. The closest thing comparable to editing of any sorts would be the fact that you can craft items using tens of raw materials. Guild Wars is setting new trends in the MMORPG market hopefully, but its likeness to Neverwinter Nights is entirely nonexistent except in the case of character classes -- which have also been heavily modified.

No hosting? No scripting? Bah, the two very things that attracted me to NWN. And..the thought of THACO dueling but I digress.....

GW will be one of the few on-line games that I will try for 2 reasons. The astounding graphics and the large amount of expert NWN friends of mine that will be trying it out.

Hopefully it will be a better experience for me than L2 (which sucked). And of course, I will await NWN2 (2006) with great anticipation.
