Title: The Complete Arcane this month!
Post by: 420 on November 04, 2004, 07:22:02 PM
For anyone that's interested (looks in Mo's direction) Complete Arcane, a new rule book just for arcane spell casters came out.

Look here for more info:

10 Reasons to buy Complete Arcane (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/news/20041104news)

Here is one of the more interesting things it will include:

Quote
Warlock:Complete Arcane offers three new base classes. Of these, the warlock is the most different from the standard D&D spellcaster. A warlock has innate magical power stemming from a supernatural bloodline. Rather than casting spells, he uses invocations -- powers that function as spell-like abilities. In addition, the warlock has damage reduction and can attack with an eldritch blast -- a magical ray that deals increasing damage as he attains levels in the class.

Also interesting:

Bardic Prestige Classes - The name says it all.

Sudden Feats - Apply a metamagic feat to an already prepared spell right before casting!

Draconic Feats - Sorcerer (and possibly bard?) specific feats related to dragon abilities.

Fun!

Sounds awesome, too bad it's so damned hard to get stuff like that modded into NWN :P

Well, I was thinking about the Warlock, it may be possible to grant PCs spell-like abilities through Creature Hides. I have never tried it, but I believe that is how they are implementing subraces in the new Witch's Wake.

Not really sure how you would activate an ability on a creature hide since you can't select it. Maybe just give the PC an item that adds new abilities and more uses per day as the PC gains levels.

I've actually seen some stuff like that modded into games like NWN. I remember back when I was playing Baldur's Gate they had loads of mod type files where you could actually add classes or prestige classes into the game. I thought they had some for NWN too but maybe I'm mixing it with Baldur's Gate II or something. Those were good games...

well you can add prestige classes, but the base classes that come with the PRCpack can for some reason not be attained at first lvl

it's nice that I've got a load of mods with 30 prestiges :P

Did you try making a new character using the PRC Character Creator (http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/other/data/1050041596353.shtml)?

"Allows you to customize your character, including new colours, races, and base classes"

I haven't tried it myself, so I'm not sure what is possible with it.

*instead of adding anything I'll just tell you that the hakpak is still on the forum, topic is called more prestige classes*
