Title: Anybody Else...?
Post by: Soul Sojourner on September 12, 2011, 05:51:55 PM
Anybody else here financially dry? Broke as a joke? At the bottom of the barrel and it's lookin' pretty empty?

Shiiit. I checked my bank account online, -$15 and a crap ton of transactions pending, as well as more not yet entered. I had to skimp on the rent... and it still wasn't enough, so I just borrowed $100 from my dad to try and make it through till Wednesday, when I get a half a paycheck from my old job, and have to wait a week+ before I get one from my new job.

Plus almost $10,000 in medical bills! WOOHOO! My favorite. Yay, and now I owe my dad $150 too! YESS!!!

Know what? I blame that FUCKING LEVAQUIN! I spent about $800 on those fucking antibiotics to take the fuckers for a whole fucking month, only to have it NOT solve my problem, and then end up paying more to try steroids and all sorts of other shit which also did NOT solve my problem. That was the result of a $2,500+ medical bill from the doctor visit I got prescribed that shit. Add in the follow up doctor visits where I came in and said shit wasn't working and they gave me other shit, and eventually started treating me like I was making it up. Fucking assholes.

Whatever happened to a money back guarantee? Maybe they would think twice about prescribing you shit that doesn't work if the cost ends up coming back to them when it doesn't.

I also blame my wife a little bit for pulling some shit awhile back, which ended up costing me a few hundred, for basically no good reason at all.

I blame Newegg for advertising that Monitor... Microsoft, for being greedy fucks, my bank which will soon be my "old" bank, cause they're shitheads. And I blame the fucking insurance assholes, for canceling my shit without fucking telling me, so I end up with a fucking dentist bill, and then being stupid fucking asshats and fucking me around as I am trying for over a year to get back on it, only to, in the end, fuck everyone over by changing all of their shit. Fuckheads.

Anybody else feel like bitching about some bullshit expenses, finances, or anything else related to not having money or getting fucked out of it?

P.S. Fuck you Bush, Fuck you Obama, Fuck you fucked up politician cock-sucking motherfuckers raping the economy and the lives of the tax-paying law-abiding citizens. Fuck your corrupted bullshit in the fucking ass. And fuck your fucking $5 gallon of milk. (thought I should add that to my rant)

EDIT: And to add to my rant:

Fuck you credit card issuing bastards for fucking advertising your shit to me everywhere and then when I actually fucking try to get a credit card deny me every fucking time. You fucking shits.

Oh man.  Glad I live in Canada with universal medicare.  We don't see medical bills like that here.  Anyway, ya I'm spending more than I want to.  I'd like to be saving more.

Well if you came to Montreal you'd have the new problem of needing French to get by for the most part.

Yes. But speaking Spanish should make learning French somewhat easy. :D Then I will have to stalk Mo!

If it gives me an excuse to learn another language, even better.

I always did want to move to Canada, but I also would like to be with my family for a while before hand. My Grandmother used to visit Canada alot, like every year. She even knows French. Always wanted to learn that too. =) And I wanted to relearn Spanish, even though I don't like it all that much. I hate trying to say things in Spanish. lol.

Well all things considered the thing about Canada that freaks me out now is that my boss and his wife who are both from Montreal are now going down to Mexico for dental work because back at home they were fixed with dental fillings made of lead. LEAD!! Seriously!? Between the lead fillings and the blown in pollution from all the old US steelyards it's no wonder they are bonkers!

But ya, the current state of the economy (home and abroad) is what happens when Mega Banks run the world. Things are a lot worse than most could imagine.

Hey! I just rediscovered the Discussion subforum!

First, I'll say that medical bills are brutal. A majority of my family is well cared for because they served in the military (and they closed that military deathtrap known as "Silas B. Hayes Hospital").

However, just over 10 years ago a bartender that Throbblefoot and I knew went in for her yearly checkup and contracted bacterial meningitis from the hospital where she got the checkup! She spent a year in the hospital at death's door, lost a bunch of toes, had horrible scars on the backs of her hands from the IV (ending any chance at an acting career), and the bar she worked at had to hold multiple fund raisers to help pay her medical bills. Last time I saw her she was in the back of her parents car being driven "home" to live with them because she was destitute.

That said, I don't really need to worry about finances. (In fact I just dropped $1,200 on a new gaming computer just to play Brink.) When I was a child I planned ahead: I'm the only child of a single mother and I made her promise me that she would never sell the house I grew up in and that I would get it in her will. She agreed and I've held her to that promise ever since. She eventually remarried and bought a new house (a big house) and I'll split that one with my two step siblings. But I still get sole possession of the old house and, thanks to Prop 13, since it's considered a "gift" (ie I'm not buying it) then I will be paying the original property tax from when she bought it in 1972.

I come from what my mom calls a "lower middle class" family (whatever that means) but they all bought property in the Monterey area back in the late 60's and early 70's and as long as I can convince them not to sell then it's all good.

Also, Throbblefoot is now an "executive"! Sweet.

Sorry to hear about your financial troubles Soul. Hope it all works out.

Well if you came to Montreal you'd have the new problem of needing French to get by for the most part.
Pfft, I spent a week in Paris and I can't speak or understand a word of French. I didn't even need to speak much English. It's all about pointing and then looking at the numbers on the cash register. The real problem is the metric system. WTF is that supposed to be anyway?!?! Much too logical and sane for Americans to deal with.

Things change quickly; just look at the people who showed up to work at...[ I believe it was ] AIG, only to find the doors barred and the bankruptcy notice taped to the door.

Also, monetary (and a few non-monetary) assets will mean little when the US Dollar collapses (I forgot where you lived 420; US? :( ).

Plan for the worse; expect Armageddon :P

PS: End the Fed.

Yes, the U.S.

Throbblefoot and I grew up in Monterey County, CA. (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Monterey&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x808de45270b5fb91:0xee484909d84a3d5e,Monterey,+CA&gl=us&ei=bTKLTsezJcmgsQLZq8nABA&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=2&ved=0CEMQ8gEwAQ) but we've lived in San Francisco for around 17 years now.

The nice thing about the California coast is that the property value will never go down, at least in the long-term, which is why I keep reminding my family not to panic and sell their property when the market takes a turn for the worse. (And I keep a nice hefty supply of gold on hand just in case.)

Also, we don't have any seasons on the coast. No snow, never gets very hot, pretty much overcast and cool all year.

If you grow up in the area you don't even pay attention to them unless they last for more than, say, 5 seconds. That means it's a big one and you need to go stand in a doorway. The 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_Loma_Prieta_earthquake) was the biggest one I was ever in. It was predicted that, because my home town was built on sand, a really big earthquake would cause the sand to act like water and all the buildings would be destroyed. Well, the sand acted like water all right and the entire town rode on top of it like it was surfing waves. Worst damage to my house was that the driveway got a crack in it and a cheesy 60's tourist statue from Hawaii fell off a shelf and broke.

At least with snow I can have Rootbeer Icys, Lots of them. With earth-quakes I MIGHT beable to wash my clothes on spin cycle without running the washer. -Which doesn't taste good. :P
