I'd recommend HP for dealing with photos/printing/graphics creation/editing/animating and such. As far as experiences go, I've no complaints with HP for that type of stuff, though some of their software can be tricky to uninstall at times, I've normally always used their hardware/software for those type of things.

I voted Dell.

Does Alienware make laptops?

Does Gateway still exist?

All of the above are PoS.  Their batteries will catch fire (http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/09/21/delllaptop_catchesfire_yahoo/) and kill you.  Apple's are serious pieces of junk not to mention over priced.  OS X is cool but their hardware is ass.  Alienware would be my 2nd choice if price is of more concern, but they are owned by Dell and I don't like Dell laptops.

You can configure a sweet laptop with these guys for a very reasonable price.  They also offer very good warranty options.  I recommend configuring a 14'' Core 2 Duo.

Both my desktops are hypersonic :P. Thats all I use, but their laptops are retardedly priced. The Apple G series is awesome, especially for graphic design and animation. I will probably end up buying it, I found one with a 17" screen, MS Office and a ton of other amenities for a grand. I am still not sure, but I dunno, just wanted you guys opinions. Will take more opinions ofcourse though. :P

I'm used to building my own computers, but my suggestion remains the same for what you are wanting.

The apple G series is EOL.
Modern apples use intel processors and are at least 3 times more powerful than their predecessors.

Oh - and Mo - mid-high end apples are considerably cheaper than the dell equivalent.

Dell sucks.

Apple and cheap should not be used in same sentance, unless you're talking about the kind you find in the fruit section.

Nah, there are four 3's there, that doesn't mean anything. Now if there were three 3's, I'd be scared.

What about there being three 0's, you're the third to reply, and you posted three sentences?

What's this laptop for?  The latest Apple notebooks are already a cpu generation behind.  A G4 is already 3 generations behind.

Sounds like you could benefit a great deal from a dual core cpu.  G4 ain't the way to go.  My brother has a G4 ibook and it's crap.  You need dual core, Core 2 Duo would be ideal.  Maya is 3D rendering right? Definitely dual core.  You'll waste your money with a Mac if you consider how much more money a Core 2 Duo would be while keeping in mind the fact that you'll have at least 150% better performance with those applications.

Apple Website (http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/)

The mac powerbook pro comes with Core Duo. So I doubt it would lose performance xD.

As I mentioned in a previous post, the Mac Book Pro is one generation behind.  Core 2 Duo offer up to 40% better performance and better power saving for notebooks.

People don't read. Get out of Talon's ass and see Apples for what they are CRAP :P

Why do you think they spend so much effort in making them look nice? Cause that's their selling point to the ignorant consumer.  Talon just hates Windows, you however do not hate it, so don't bother with Macs!

Exactly, then you must take my advice.  Unless if you want to wait, I'm pretty sure Apple will upgrade the Mac Book pro with Core 2 duo shortly.  But buying one now the way they are configured is dumb.
