Finally, the location of the best known dwarven trading city in the Forgottem Realms has been revealed!
The first map is an up-close look at Smith Hold's exact location while the second shows it's general position in the world of Toril.

Fumesmith Road runs North/South and passes the main entrance to the city of Smith Hold on the western face of Granite Spire Mountain. The lone mountain rises out of the Ironbark Forest, a large grove of petrified trees on the northern boarder of The Far Forest. The River Delimbiyr (after which Smith Hold City Center's main street is named) flows just west of the forest.
Fumesmith Road does not exist beyond the forest's boarders and serves mainly as a cleared and maintained path to and from Smith Hold. Beyond Smith Hold, the road continues north to the edge of the forest but its southern end turns west towards the river.

I just realized that there isn't anything in this sub forum that tells people where to find ThrobbleServ on GameSpy!
Channel: Social
Server: ThrobbleServ
Name: Smith Hold
Current IP Address: 75.17.112.38:5121 (Last Updated: 8/11/15)
Ta da!

Updated the IP address for ThrobbleServ.
Now that GameSpy is no more I'll try and keep this as up to date as possible.

You can also use : smithhold.yazkir.com to log in while the IP is what it is right now. :)
(It will be between 0 - 4 hours for propagation of the DNS record before it will work. But it may propagate faster for some. )

Very cool. Thanks Mercy!

Is this still the IP or has it changed?

I was able to direct connect to the IP posted above just now. Keep in mind that I bring the server down when I go to bed so it's unavailable from roughly 11 pm - 7 am Pacific time.
I've been meaning to set up a 24 hour server but I need to make room in the apartment to set up one of my old computers. (Or buy a house, whichever is less work.)

Ah,. gotcha. Was trying to connect yesterday afternoon and wasn't finding the server.
-
Is this server still running?

Is this server still running?
Yeah. ThrobbleServ has been down for over a week because we went out of town and I don't like leaving the compy running unattended for that long.
It's back up now but will go down again over the next couple weekends. (Sorry for the inconvenience.)

Do you still have the server up from time to time 420? I tried to log on today, but it wasn't up.

I got a new computer recently and haven't taken the time to reinstall NWN because of the holidays keeping me busy. (That and The Simpsons Lego house which is 2500+ pieces.)
I'll install NWN this weekend and post here when Smith Hold is back up. I'm looking at bringing up a permanent server soon but I got a lot of cleaning up to do to make room for it.

ThrobbleServ is back up and running!
Happy New Year!

Is the throbbleserv IP up-to-date? I've gotten a "Server Timed-Out" error the past few times I've tried.

Still the same IP. What time did you try logging in? (I shut it down from 11pm - 8am Pacific time.)
I'll ask Throbble and Cuchulann to see if they can log in.

Just before I posted. It may be an issue on my end? Can other people still access a server list since gamespy went down? I can't.
edit: I did manage to find a directory of active servers and successfully connected to a few of them.
-
No, Gamespy going down killed the list. There is apparently something you can download to create a new list. But the servers on it have to be added by the owner or someone at the website. I can connect to most servers, but not Throbbleserv. http://www.nwnlist.com/ Is the server list that I use.
-
Yeah, I used another one (found on the bioware forums) to get IPs to direct connect to.
-
Hmm, I looked at my firewall settings and "Neverwinter Nights Server" has checks in the boxes to allow access through both private and public networks.
I'll do some research and see if I can figure out what the problem is.

I have not tried to log in in a while. My history list no longer shows SH and my saved direct connect is for Arelith. Bleh! I will need to get the current direct connect address for SH to try again.
Update: Tried your last IP posting of 192.168.1.107:5121 (Last Updated: 4/4/13) No dice.
-
Do you all still play on Arelith? I'd forgotten about that place.
-
I double checked the router and all the proper ports are forwarded. I'll try resetting the modem and get a fresh IP address. The current one hasn't changed in years.
I'll post the new IP here when it's done. Throbble is working right now so I can't fuck with the router.
-420
EDIT: How far does everyone get when trying to connect? Do you get as far as the character select? Also, after you try to direct connect, does the server show up on your history list?
Thanks!
-
This is the error message I get when I try to login. Not even as far as the character selection screen.
-
Same error message for me. Also, no I don't play on Arelith anymore, it just happened to be the last server that i used to direct connect to. It's been a while since I even started up NWN. Still, its on there.
-
I reset my router. Try connecting to ThrobbleServ using this ip: 192.168.1.254:5121
-420
-
Still no luck.
-
Apparently ipconfig has been returning my internal ip address.
This should be my real ip: 71.139.163.127:5121
-420
-
That dastardly fiend! Well, the real ip works. I'll pop on later this evening after I've run a few errands.
-
Alas it is not working for me.

Alas it is not working for me.
Ugh, new IP: 71.139.163.16:5121
This may be an ongoing problem until I get a permanent server running.
