Title: Problems after GodSpire's recent "facelift"
Post by: 420 on July 05, 2005, 06:16:20 PM
I finally had the time to tour the sparkly new GodSpire but ran into some problems:

1. Vash is missing so there is no way to get to Illuvitar City.

2. There is an entrance to the House of the Bear in both the Halls of Illuvitar and Illuvitar City. So if you enter from Illuvitar City then leave it will put you in the Halls.

3. Spellshold (caster arena) and the Circus Maximus embassy areas seem to be missing completely.

4. The healing lights heal you regardless if you are in a duel or in a combat state.

5. The healing lights removes the dueling lights (and possibly the sent/guardian lights as well).

Those are the only major problems I have run into so far.

I'm pretty sure Vash is around where he should be. Odd. Try reloading mod. CM is locked, cause CM sucks. I mentioned to Xen that Spellhold seems to be missing.

I will address these issues in turn.

Gimli isnt much for conversation. Its like talking to a wall, only a wall at least tends to say something to me everyonce in a while.

And a lot of new players told me that the new GodSpire was kinda confusing . They simply don't get they need to talk to the rashaka to be tele in the hall . Perhaps a pannel ( like TALK TO THE RASHAKA TO GO TO THE ARENA ) would help .

The problem that Vash is missing is my fault... i had internet problems, and logged in as a DM to test a new char (halfling with a greatsword and bastard sword in offhand..) i unplotted vash to check the damage etc. but due the dual wield on halfling bug i crashed, and after that i didnt log in because of the internet problems...

So sorry...  :(

Ya ummm please don't bring bugged character like halflings with greatswords.  Server definitely doesn't like that kind of stuff.

It's the easier maneer to go to the halls and if they don't they're lost . Hence I guess they need to talk to the rashaka to go to the halls .

For the first time in a while I've got someone I'm trying to explain how to make items.  So what I normally do is put my gear up in the barter window and explain what properties do what.  As I'm doing this I realize that my items are disappearing without accepting a barter...Apparently the script for the nifty floor turning things into floating cards also makes things in barter vanish.
As much as I like things puffing away into floating cards I like even more being able to use the barter to show people how to make items.  Is there an inbetween?

Stitch: 1337 (which is "leet speak (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1337_speak)") is a psuedo-language like Pig Latin. You replace letters with numbers to encrypt your message from people over the age of 30.

Elessar: No one *has* to answer anything, but since I like it when people answer my questions, I try to act in kind.

OH MAN THAT'S FUNNY! hee hee hee wooo!

Sounds like the OnUnaquireItem event fires when an item is transfered to the barter "inventory". This explains how the switch to make items undroppable prevent them from being put in the barter screen. This would also mean that even if the item checked to see if its possessor was a PC it would probably return FALSE.

It would be an easy fix if the barter inventory was a valid object that could be checked by the item.

Oh, is it just me or do all of Xen's spawnable stools make you face east now after 1.66 fixed stools?

Something weird is going on with the duel manager and Sent runes.  When I use the duel manager it makes the other person hostile for the countdown only then they go back to friendly.

When using the Sent runes on myself I don't turn into the forms and my head goes away  :/ but I still get the boot/stone ability.

Can this be fixed or just remove the script that causes stuff to disapear and go back to having Belog and the 20 other NPCs pick up trash?

Blizzard was a great company until Diablo 2. Before that you could buy a Blizzard game knowing that it was a complete game with very few (if any) bugs. In fact, the only patches that games like warcraft 1 and 2, Starcraft and Diablo needed were due to Battle.net upgrades and very minor bugs.

Then Blizzard released Diablo 2 as a half-finished game. Traditionally a story has 5 acts, but Diablo 2 only had 4 "acts" and space to add a tab for the 5th act when it first came out. The Lord of Destruction expansion pack was actually the rest of the original game. Truely sad.

Of course, even before Diablo 2 was released most of the original creators of battle.net and the original Diablo left to make arena.net and Guild Wars because they were disgusted by the direction Blizzard was going in. Even the employees of Blizzard could tell that releasing half a game and then working on a pay-to-play game would be the downfall of the company.

Of course I have been saying this on the battle.net forums for years and you can imagine the responses I get from their loyal fan base.

So true... nonetheless.... WC2 Owns! =D That was before D2 though of course, I admit D2 was fun... but it was also fudged, and the "hackers" came back again...

About the new godspire, there is no need for the 20 or so NPCs wandering the halls, All they do is spam thier annoying emotes and get lost, with the new trash script the no longer need to run to pick up garbage. Master Brinsbane is bugged, he will attack you is you attack him and chase you forever, this also counts if u accidentialy cast a spell at him.  Oh and Susy says "I'm no such a harmless old man now am I" When you attack her.  :P I suggest replacing the 20 wandering NPCs with a few that stand still up against the wall so there is less confusion. Lights might wanna be clickable too.
