I don't remember ever being able to not use the CD to run NWN. Is this new with the 1.66 patch or? Do I now have 3 CDs to fling off on my weedwacker?

Could be new with the patch, I noticed they fixed a few things that weren't mentioned in the release notes. For instance, before the patch if you cast "Death Ward" twice, or "Undeaths Eternal Foe" twice (or one of each) then the immunity to negative energy was removed. These spells now stack properly and don't remove the negative energy immunity if cast multiple times.
I'll post any other interesting tid-bits that I discover were fixed by 1.66 but not documented.

I have also found that true.

The linux client never needed the CD in the drive. And withing days poeple had cracked the cd protection for the windows version, each new patch. I guess they found it pointless to keep the protection. So, you do have 3 CDs to fling off on your weedwacker.
