Title: Caster duels in WoW - like nwn yet?
Post by: gashmo on February 24, 2005, 12:50:37 AM
Well duels in WoW... Are they like nwn yet?
For example, in nwn caster duels is all about timing of keystroke, watching ur opponent's hand movements, and getting past mantle etc etc (as well as deciphering what is his build and weakness).

Are the spells in WoW like that? Or is it all just a clickfest?... WoW should be better betcause it isn't round based.

The fact that nwn is round based makes it own other games actually.

I haven't dueled another mage, but I can imagine that one would sheep the other and then get various buffs on that lower spell dmg (dampen spell and wards to absorb dmg). However you can prebuff and sheeping is gay, so lets say that since there's no spell that works like mantle, it's a straight up dmg duel where it's the talents that count and mana if you can't kill the mage with your spells due to absorbtion. Then it's good having evocation which channels for 8 secs giving a 1500% mana regen, so it's uber ^^. Then there's the fire or ice field to specialize in and fire can be extreme with the dmg (one talent give an opportunity to get 100% crit chance and then there's flamestrike gulp. Ice can freeze and then have a 50% crit chance and has a lot of good spells, personal fav is ice storm :P)

Mages blow-ass in duels on WoW

As a hunter, by level 40 you can drain about 600 mana in eight seconds, then just shoot the hell/slice at em' till they fall.
