NwN General / Disarm:
« on: July 15, 2004, 08:52:33 PM »
I failed to mention I use Improved Disarm and I have only level 20 characters but I understand what you mean. Also have Improved Knockdown on my fighters, well most.
I was concerned about what people thought of the moral isssue seeing how people felt bad when it came to using certain spells and exploiting an opponents weakness. On a couple of occasions a Sentinel has complained about me disarming a randomer.
At level 20 there are a lot of people that can be disarmed and doing it to a mage is second in line to a randomer. :D Oh and they don't always drop it there is a save.

You guys make it sound like I don't know how or that I've never used disarm...I do use it. <_<

I have only seen one other person use disarm at my level. I have no problems with it. Mainly because I usually have high disciplined characters. Now two of my fighters have it and my TSin' SD (hey if ya go cheap go all the way).
I love it for several reasons. The main one is, there is nothing funnier than having a randomer dropping his weapon and try to beat ya with fists.
Second in a duel I think it adds a bit of interest. Rather than exploiting the fact that they can't withhold against knockdown just pop out their sword and see how prepared they are for it. Again most of my fighter classes have more than one weapon in the quickslots so I know I'm prepared.

Unfortunately very few people find the humor in it and more often than not they call me names. As I see it, it is better to be disarmed than to be knockdown. What's funny is they ignore the fact that I need something like 13+ int. so those points I could be adding to another ability which would imporve ab/ac whatever.

What's the verdict?

First: this forum strays from the topic so very easily <_<

From someone who is farthest from original, me, I thank bus for pointing out that "builds" don't have copyright laws.

As I stated in another post that it is always good to start with the basics and I'm doin' just that and until I know what combinations are somewhat compatible I think it's appropriate to use builds that have been done before. However due credit is always recommended and practiced (If only I know who owned the build....(sarcasm)).

What's even more silly is I get asked about my characters and I know they have been done before and are common.

What good are ya at making characters if ya can't do a "pure" leveled character and kick ass?

Certainly it doesn't take skill to use the spells mentioned above but to fight against is something to be said. The same goes for SDs. little talent invovled in making one but hell if you can beat them the better you are.

Beck....by far. "Satan Gave Me A Taco" ...lol
Mr. Bungle of course and anything that Mike Patton has to do with.
So that includes John Zorn, Melvins, Tomahawk, Fantomas and Faith No More. The more mainstream stuff like Tool, Nine Incha Nails, Nirvana (sometimes), Primus, A Perfect Circle, Weezer. Can't forget meh Buckethead, Secret Chiefs 3, Portishead and Ween. Throw in some serious metal...like Bethlehem, Brujeria, Obituary, Napalm Death....ok the list gets a lot longer....oh little Charles Mingus on dah side.

Knowing the crowd that will most often be participating I have my doubts. And unfortunately "Decoy" is not a class....if it were I wonder what it might be like...or maybe that's what str fighters are. 0.0

NwN General / Help With Cleric/fighter
« on: July 11, 2004, 08:43:26 PM »
I prefer "pure" characters which are ones that have just one class no multiclassing. So a straight up level 20 cleric is never a bad thing. Of course high wisdom and a nice blunt weapon is trade mark. Check different domains for what would help best in melee if that is what you're looking for. I know the Divine spells help a lot with your AB (attack bonus). Creating one class characters helps you find out what each class/level has to offer and you get a chance to deal with the basics. Once you have that figured out then you can go and mix and match classes. My favorite character to play is a Cleric/Ranger/Monk.

So how do level 20s fit into all this team dueling. I'd geuss the obvious and say that you'd need a bunch of level 20s and duel amongst ourselves....or can we act as the hotages. :D

GodSpire General / Ok So What If No One Thats A Sent Is There?
« on: July 11, 2004, 06:27:44 PM »
In my experience with randomers most don't realize that there is such a thing as randoming and once you kill them and state " Do Not Random" they listen. In other fewer cases they continue to random. This is what I consider the belligerent randomer. They have no respect for the rule and other people.
I often kill them an extra time. However of course to me this is not inappropraite killing, therfore not randoming. Of course the rules say otherwise. So I am a randomer.....which doesn't make any sense at all because I am respective of other players and the two can not co-exist. A common problem I have is the Sentinels tend to stand together in a chatting circle in GS and for some reason don't watch at their farthest most corners of the screen. I find it easy to spot randomers and who caused what argueement. Just watching and being more observant would greatly decrease the confusion when stoning a randomer and/or increase the efficiency in settling the matter.

Yes, there are times when there aren't Sents on. It used to happen more often a few months ago but not as common now.
I go by being reasonable and if that means by the rules standards I'm a randomer then "oh well".
Now I've been trying to tell Sents about randomers. When I do this it is because the randomer has repeatedly killed/attacked someone or myself. So when I report someone it is the belligerent randomer not the more common honest randomer.

forums should have spell check...

GodSpire General / 2 Problems
« on: July 11, 2004, 06:00:58 PM »
I hadn't notice the damage reduction on other weapons that have only physical damage. And at some points the weapon will do normal damage it just seems a bit odd for it never being this dramatic before. Because it is either very poor damage or the damage is really good like it should be.

If you have reset or whatever it is you did maybe it will work better for me. I keep watching all the flashing glowie lights on the hubb and I swear they blink red and/or yellow every once in a while. It's just hard to watch it when it's under mah table....maybe I'll setup a mirror contraption....hmmm.

Thanks for the suggestions they have given me some ideas.

Thanks again,
Meclar

GodSpire General / How Do I Becom A Sent?
« on: July 09, 2004, 12:54:05 PM »
For someone like myself that seems to play when there aren't to many Sentinels active it becomes very frustrating when there isn't anyone to "police" the server. That's reason enough for myself to want to become a Sentinel. A position of "power" is always good as it is bad.

GodSpire General / 2 Problems
« on: July 09, 2004, 12:25:48 PM »
First the problem with damage to monks when I use TS with my level 20 SD/wiz/rogue. For some reason when I cast TS and then attack a monk with or without EB my sword does somewhere between 1-8 damage. the sword has all damage bonuses and is a rapier (damages consist of blud. pierce slash and magic). It also has keen and massive crits I believe. My question is why is this happeningor is there some newbish explaination that I'm overlooking? I can say it only happens to monks but for the life of me I don't know why. If more info is needed on the character post reply.

Second, since I came back to GS after a couple of months being absent I have been regularly disconnected. The disconnects happen about every 30 minutes and sometime are more frequent. I have checked my firewall settings and wires hubbs and such and have not found a problem on my end. The disconnects only happen with GS server and take about 5 minutes to reconnect. Has anthing server connection settings changed in the past few months? Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks
Meclar
