Random Ranting / What's it Gonna Be?

If you don't think it's funny, you obviously don't get the impressions those two freaks are doing. You did at least get the Michael Jackson at the end, right?

Random Ranting / Three cheers for the Merc
« on: July 15, 2007, 05:55:09 PM »
Condolences, Mercy - losing a job always sucks. The first summer job I had, they fired me, but didn't tell me, they told my mom - over the phone! I was relieved, and my mom thought they handled it so badly I didn't have to get a job for the rest of the summer!

We also have a ton of the toys from both Beast Wars/Machines series - including several of  Black Aracnia because she's such a bad ass. No one, of course is nearly as cool as Optimal Optimus.

It's a Iron Giant ripoff.
Uh... you appear to be suffering some kind of temporal confusion - Transformers predates Iron Giant by nearly 15 years. From wikipedia:

"The Iron Giant is a 1999 animated science fiction film"

"The Transformers was an American cartoon ... Original run: September 17, 1984 â?? November 11, 1987"

If you're using Firefox, that's your answer. Maybe you never saw the red underlines before because you're such a fantastic speller.

NWN 2 General / 1.07 will add the Bronze Dragon
« on: July 03, 2007, 10:48:47 PM »
It's a new model. The existing NWN2 dragon models are for red and black dragons -  the new bronze model  is more similar to the red dragon model, but they all three are different models. Like NWN dragons, their differences are mostly around their heads and dorsal ridges. Though I will say the black dragon looks a lot different than either the red or bronze.

About parity with the 3rd edition art: I'd also say the red and bronze look more similar than the black (as in the game), and that the art in the game obviously tried to stay true to the art in the 3e books.

That discussion was nearly two years ago - of course some of the excitement is gone. That said, I really had fun last time I played with you folks - more fun than I remembered having last time I played with any frequency. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, I suppose.

I played for a couple minutes tonight - it rocks! The vehicles are hard to control, which actually turns out to be kinda fun, and the firepower is on par with other id games.

Discussion / War in Iraq AND North Korea
« on: June 09, 2007, 01:31:24 PM »
I'm sure Oprah is full of beans, but North Korea's civil rights violations are fairly well accepted -  check out the Wikipedia article - I draw your attention to the sections on famine and abductions - fascinating!

That said, people are being abused and killed all over the world (Darfur springs instantly to mind) - why should the U.S. get involved? We botched the last one, and all we have to show for it is some really cool advancements in artificial limbs and a lot of disappointment from our European pals.

Random Ranting / I have a doubt
« on: June 07, 2007, 10:00:35 PM »
Couple things:

1. "Sorry for the inconvenience" is also used. "The" is used when you know it's inconvenient; "any" is used when there is a doubt:
 - Whoops, I hit you in the face with a glass bottle. Sorry for *the* inconvenience.
 - I won't be able to tear you a new corn shoot today. Sorry for *any* inconvenience.

2. Even people who speak and write well in their native tongue may have no idea about the mechanics of its grammar. For instance, you may know that you shouldn't write "to gracefully dance" - you'd write "to dance gracefully." But that doesn't mean you can tell me what the infinitive is or give me an example. Length of string to the first person to do both.
