Discussion / Badly in love.....Help...or...
« on: September 04, 2007, 10:30:22 PM »
As the only actual female who ever posts here any more, I feel bound to reply:
 - Age differences don't have to be an issue, especially as you get older.
 - Long-distance relationships are doomed in the long run.
 - If she really truly dated you very recently, and is already dating another guy, she might (and please don't take this badly) be a skank.

And some more advice you aren't going to like: If you really really think you're in love with this woman, maybe you need to read Romeo and Juliet. How long were you even in the same city? How many hours did you spend with her? I mean, you only met her a month ago, how can you be sure it's truly love and not an infatuation?

Take your time, keep in contact with her (if she's receptive - no cyber-stalking!), and see how it goes.

Talon is using a figure of speech - actually, if we're being accurate, it's hyperbaton - changing word order to emphasize meaning. Talon's using one of the most common instances. Its construction is:
An <obvious indicator> does not a <noun> make.

So, "A carving knife does not a butcher make" means "Just having a knife doesn't mean you know how to cut meat properly."

PS - The Wikipedia article might explain the general idea:

Happy (slightly belated) birthday, dearest!

For the rest of you: I took 420 to a fancy restaurant - he had prawns, I had steak. Now he is installing the first of his two b-day presents: Bioshock.

You can write that on the wall - a poorly-built lock only inconveniences honest people; it never hurts a thief.

Too funny...I think we here at Lucidmagic.net should hire an efficiency consultant to see if there aren't any ways we can improve efficiency and productivity around here
Shouldn't we have a meeting first to discuss the initiative?

Are they *trying* to run people away from their game? All their customer base wants is to play D&D, and every time they turn around, the rules and history suddenly change, often with no real explanation.

They're cracking up, I tell you....

Think about these numbers:
50,000 words in 30 days in 1,666 words a day.
1,666 words is about 2 pages of 10 point Times New Roman single spaced pages - without headers or other fancy formatting.

So, who thinks they can stomach 2 pages a day for 30 days? November isn't a great month for this for me, but I'm sincerely thinking about it.

The upside is that designers have more control over the landscape and the areas are more "immersive" (that is, they look a lot more like the real world). While the outdoor PWCs can get pretty big, I doubt it's got much to do with server load.

The game is a bit frustrating since there is a lot of random interaction among NPCs, so if you get caught in a firefight you might be there awhile. It isn't exactly scary but it is a bit unnerving.

-Throbblefoot

Edit: 420 just jumped out of his skin while playing in broad daylight, so "unnerving" probably isn't a strong enough word.

The problem with Broke Back is that it's a boring story - even in print - and Annie Proulx has and will write better stories - The Shipping News being all the evidence one needs that she writes well.

WCoC was irritating. Sure, you can ride horses, but one might just *poof* disappear, leaving one of your party members on foot, and woe be unto you if you put anything important in that horse's saddlebags. Also, the jousting is just ridiculous.  If I wanted people spouting off at me about heraldry, I'd join SCA.

It seems like they just wanted to say "look what I can do" instead of making a fun mod with a compelling storyline and cast.

While I'm not one to consume such culinary delights as Thrifty Maid Hot Dog Chili Sauce  or Piggly Wiggly Corned Beef Hash (in 15 oz. cans no less), some of the rest of you might want to carefully clean out the cupboard. If you have a taste for canned chili (or if your dog eats Natural Balance brand food), you need this information.

Most importantly, check out the (disturbingly lengthy) list of recalled products - but don't miss the article about retailers trying to kill your ass with canned goods.

Here's the info:

So there is this thing called LazyTown which is pretty scary, but come on, it's more compelling than any US kids show, and you bastards kept it from me (Anheg, I'm looking at you, pal). At any rate, fear their ambiguous storyline!
