Well, as you know, Throbble and I are both vehemently against the whole concept of pay-to-play games. We've discussed the issue with gamers and game makers for years and we always came to the same conclusion: We'd rather pay one large, lump sum up front for lifetime access rather than allow our funds to be drained monthly for as long as we want to play the game.

Consider this fictional Diablo 2 scenario. Let's say that when Diablo 2 was announced in the late 90's Blizzard said that it was not financially feasible to host a game as huge and complex as D2 on Battle.net for free. Let's say they decided they would charge $10 a month to play Diablo 2 online.

Now, Throbble and I have been playing D2 online continuously since it was released (2000), for simplicity sake we'll say it's been exactly 7 years to the month. That means each of us would have spent $840 to play Diablo 2 for the past 84 months. Considering this, we would both be happy to slap down $150 a piece up front for lifetime access.

That's the basic argument behind the option of paying the lump sum.

But Hellgate isn't really pay-to-play anyway since the entire single player game is free to play online and there is no restrictions stopping non-subscribers from playing with subscribers.

Alltough that is a very good explanation and it would come cheaper to you guys if you pay lifesubscription indeed.

But what if the game becomes a dissapointment and you don't play it more then one or two months?
there you paid 200$ for a game that you play for a month or two....
i saw a review today of the game it had a score of 82(while the wicher got close to 90 lol) here they said the quests were too repetive and the storyline sucked, I think the devs of Hellgate London concentrated the most on items and the itemfever then the storyline and the quests, I mean I probably will buy hellgate london but won't pay monthly for it not worth it in my opinion.

So me and Witchhunter Z are at the Crystal Desert and the missions there are quite tedious. Well more then tedious actually... They're super hard! Henchman won't pull it... Not even hero-henchman. I even tried it with a full team of lvl 20's and we still died several times. So any help is appreciated. =)

On a side note: I heard you get some kind of HP bonus when you finish the missions. Is this true?

lol what the hell last week you guys were in the shiverpeaks and now you are in the desserts? so fast lol? well I got a warrior of lvl 20 with nice greenie weapons and elite armor call me and we'll try it out when you're online ;)

In the demo are just 5 short quest and like 4-5 areas, and you can only choose blademaster or marksman, i got blademaster to lvl 5 and theres no next area after crovad somethin tunnels so i guess thats about it, you can always replay the other areas just reentering the game but its not likely to lvl much past lvl 5, then i started a marksman and theyre really quite different, and there seems to be only like 3-4 different weapons for each class in the demo, well only 11 days to go xD...

what you mean hellgate london comes in only 11 days....?

NFS is probably requesting a 3Ghz+ P4 processor.  Which is absolute junk compared to lower clocked Core 2s.  Don't worry about it.  Besides the Extreme Editions there are no 3Ghz Core 2s, but basically all of them are faster than P4s, due to much better architectures.  Games these days still only use 1 core and won't make use of the 2nd.

dunno why i'm worriying lol if it can run bioshock on full detail NFS shouldn't be a problem...

but can someone give me a program to make screenies with cuz GIMP 2 doesn't work it starts loading and then stoppes in the half it never opens.....

hehe good one....

Anyway dunno living 400 years might be neat it would be nice to see the world evolving, see the new technologies etc....

on the other hand it would be hard to keep track of everything to remember everything can a human brain retain information for like 200 years??
Overpopulation of the world would also be a problem...

Meh just like Mo said

Hellgate is not really a shooter, more closer to diablo 2 though, the marksman class can be just like an archer on any other mmorpg, you can just play blademaster or any other melee class besides i dont think that spellborn crap will be any better seriously, it just keeps being pushed back and never released lol, it surely will be just another common rpg or maybe even a total phailure like Archlord (and you even liked that game xD).

And the hellgate demo its only single player sadly :o

Hell no i'm gonna bet you Spellborn gonna own the shit outta other MMORPG's you'll see, MARK MY WORDS IT'S GONNA OWN!!!

I have some intresting questions....

first off what's the difference between HDR and bloom and wich is better in Oblivion to turn on cuz geforce cards can't turn both on.

and second how's the deal now between dual core processors i saw NFS needs a 3Ghz processor now i have a dual core @2Ghz does that mean two processors @2Ghz=4Ghz??

I've gone from a cable to modem no problem and then used a router with the modem and again no problem.  You may need to setup a Windows network?

Could you take some screen shots of Vista? I'm curious.

you know i would have no problems with that but I can't find "paint" anywhere to past the screens or where the screenshots are saved i have no idea.... :o

Are you sure you have that video card??

offcourse lol i just checked the hardwaremanager and it says
nvidia geforce 8600M GT

i'm kinda getting the feeling i'm installing it in the wrong folder but dunno...? it's c:\NVIDIA....

EDIT ZOMG what I just read almost gave me a heart attack

check this

nVidia drivers are based on a system called Unified Driver Architecture (UDA) which means all nVidia card drivers are using one driver. However for some reasons, they just remove the support for installing those drivers for some cards, and mostly laptop-based GO cards.

We, the LaptopVideo2Go.com Team, are unlocking those restrictions and also fixing some problems and tweaking the drivers for the best experience with your laptop/desktop and nVidia graphics card.

This means ALL nVidia based graphics cards (TNT2, GeForce and Quadro) can use ANY of the drivers after using our 'modification'.

If you try to install any of these drivers without modification , you will most likely get this error:

"nVidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

This is because of the restrictions of driver itself. To solve this issue and install the driver as it should be for your graphics card, you have to use our 'Modded INF'. Click here if you want to learn more about Modded INFs.

If your graphics card is one of those, you can use our Modded INF to alter installation restrictions:

well I must say they do their job QUITE good I succesfully installed the new drivers on my geforce and run bioshock in fucking full high quality and it looks freaking great lol! :D

Yep, got another question tough

I tought let's update the drivers of my geforce and when i download the drivers from the nvidia site and when setup starts it says nvidia could not locate any drivers that are comptabible with your current hardware the setup program will now exit...?

so the drivers i downloaded for the geforce 8 series are not comptabible with my geforce 8600M GT card?

Oh by the way. Most modems don't like having new network cards plugged into them.  Turn off your modem and computer for 10 mins then turn your modem back on and then turn your computer back on.  I bet it will work.

If you have a DSL modem remember to configure the Internet Connection inside Windows.

I think you are right, now posting with my laptop internet works from the moment I installed the drivers of my usb network card and used the card....oh well guess i'll use it for now hehe

BTW Hell yeah I called it "him" cuz it's my precious now and i'll shoot anyone who comes close to HIM!

If you're directly connected to the modem I'd HIGHLY recommend turning the Windows firewall back ON.

Unless you don't care about network worms and intrusions.

Performance is subjective.  What I find as acceptable performance will differ from you.  So go ahead and buy the laptop and let us know.  I'm sure you'll be happy.  I run games at 1600x1200 resolution,  I'm sure your laptop has lower resolution.  So as long as you don't use AA or AF you should be ok.

lol i'm used to games on a 800x600 settings i only play GW at a higher resolution and AA and AF lol dunno when I last used them.

Also forget the say today i got a promotion at work so i'll need a laptop for work now.
