Title: Sulluwens Training school (?)
Post by: Hubba on September 19, 2004, 11:47:38 AM
A few nights ago i heard Sulluwen talking about a training school for noobs. I really would like to know more about this idea since it can really boost up the image of Doriath.... (and we are peacefull elfs who always want to help, dont we!  :P   )

Anyway, Sul and other members: Please post yer ideas here!

Im still working on how i want this to go, but for starters i need a mage trainer and an all around trainer to help. Im not bad at archers but im no good at other classes so anyone who knows mage and the other classes pritty well would be most helpfull.

* ill let ya know when i get some sort of a system up for it.
And hopefull this will be a good learning experiance for us all  :)

Sulluwen: Ranged Trainer

Kristie (?): Mage Trainer

Alucard and Solid Sanek: Melee Trainer

Oh and Celestial, we only accept Doriath Members, the training school will be a part of Doriath.....

That's too bad. I think a little "community service" would do y'all good. Opening it up to anyone would be a gesture of "peacefull elfs who always want to help."

Thanks all of ya, but i would like to clear one thing up. This school will be for Doriath that is true, but i would like to also use it for recrutes. We can help new players to the server and hopefully gain some new memebers, as Throbblefoot siad a sort of "community service".

Kudos to you guys...

I don't think I'd be able to help train n00bs.  At some point after their training they're going to have a build that's nearly exactly like yours.  It's one thing if they're good builders and figure it out on their own, but it's another thing when all that hard work and effort that you've put into a build is just copied by another person.  It gets even worse when they pwn your @$$ with it.

Again, Kudos for you guys, and I hope it works out well for you.

Well if u want to Sullu. id be willing to give tips if u ever need some on WMs or AAs, but i have a hard time with putting up with newbs for long periods.

I can help out with melee (Strer, Dexer, WM), monks and clerics and basically an allrounder

Solid can help too since he has the knowledge of my best cleric WM now  :)

Actually I was helping out a couple of people yesterday too, but they were not from our clan. I think generally members of our clan are pretty elite, not that many newbies or 'n00bs' as u call would them Hub  :D But yeah its a good idea

Throbblefoot, my point was : we do help everyone. Your last sentence was: or do you help every noob"
me replying: Yes, thats the point.

not sure, but how about TWO schools, one for Doriath only and one for the average joe/jane...that way our lil secrets on our builds will hopefully remain in the clan, but we can still help everyone else

*looks around* hmmm now who is on enough that he/she can devote time to training "Outsiders" it'd have to be some1 with a lot of time on their hands and also sorta sucks...*raises hand* that be me :P

I think the only thing noobs need to learn is the basics of a 1d20 roll and +20 ab is the max, that sorta thing. War Elephant still has trouble learning hehe
Figuring out what the abilities add and having odd numbers doesn't give ANY bonus, skills like concentration, disc and tumble WITHOUT thinking that putting tumble on items gives 5ac per rank.

The very basics should really be learned so the students may understand and start making, experimenting, chars on their own.

If ur really gonna pull this off i think u need to start telling newbies around GS to come on at a certain time, or maybe just to keep the class sizes down, randomly anounce u are helping newbies and hold classes when u feel like it. I think that they should have some kind of connection to the clan if u help them...but i dont want random people who have no idea whats going on in the clan. Start thinking of some ideas.

 Ok I think I have if figyered out. Since its a bit hard to just write out a guide for each of the trainers to use Im going to let them just do as they see fit. As for training those outside the guild, well Ive desided to let that go. I figyer if we stick to those who are truely going to be a part of guild and gs we would be better off.
