I was planning to post the before and after math for all of my gems but then I realized I was being insane so I'll just use this example:

Well, in 4 more minutes I will have played exactly 865 hours of Diablo III and in that time 12 legendary items have dropped for me.
So, taking into consideration that I don't have a Magic Finder (yet) and I haven't done much NV farming we can consider the magic find modifier to have little to no effect:
865 hours played / 12 legendary items = 1 legendary every 72 hours played
According to your profile you've put in 106 hours 4 minutes, so expect to find your first one soon!

Just got my magic finder up to level 60! She's fairly weak on offense (7K damage) and defense but she's got a base of exactly 200% magic find just from items (193% from her equipment, 7% from her follower).

Thanks! Bought an Oculus Ring and a Sun Keeper. Dmg went up a little bit but these purchases were mainly geared towards increasing my MF which was boosted almost 60% by these two. Oculus Rings also gives nice defensive bonuses +66 resist and 237 armor.

It seems to have a knockback effect when you target undead. The effect appears to be ranged as it works when I attack using Magic Missile. It also appears to be instantaneous as it happens on attack, as opposed to when the target is hit. I'll try it out on my Barbarian later and see how it behaves when used in melee attacks and with Whirlwind.

There's also quite a nice Freeze mod there too.

Actually, I don't think he found any over the weekend. Obviously I was playing with him when I found all of those. I've only found 1 on my own, (low level legendary). I was mainly playing 3-player party with 420 and Throbble this weekend. Throbble found 3 legendaries, two were set items, all of them very good.

I think Blizzard decided I got enough legendary items and it was time to spread the love. Throbble and Mo both got their first set item (first and second in the case of Throbble) all good stuff.

Found Wizardspike yesterday. Now my D3 Wizard "AetherRend" uses the same weapon as my D2 Sorceress "Aether_Rend".

Picked up a couple of nice items for my monk this week. The "glove" is a fist weapon and it the red Double Dragon glove you see on the right hand. Pity it doesn't match my color scheme. I plan to put a nice fat amethyst in the helm.

I finally got the Demon Hunter class achievement "Hunter or Hunted"! I started working on it a couple months ago with the goal of getting it before year's end.

Strategy: Since Act 4 only spawns demon type creatures, no undead or beasts, I made Act 4 Inferno games (Monster Power 0 for maximum kill speed + max item level drops). I set the game to the final quest and cleared Gardens of Hope Tier 1 & 2 and the Crystal Spire Level 1 & 2. I found that creatures that don't give xp don't count, like the shadow vermin in the Iskatu battle, so there is no reason to do quest bosses or talk to false spirits.

Cool looking weapon. They really did an injustice by making the damage potential of level 60+ weapons so much higher than anything below level 60. I'd love to see a D2 style way to upgrade legendary item's base level.

I'd suppose a Wiz or WD bought it for the INT and EXP. The damage was far above what I could find at that level for similar items, so I think it is an exceptional, if low-level, item. But would I pay 8.5 million gold for it? Hardly!

Throbble and I just got the Champion's Collection achievement together by finally finding the Fallen Cur Champs in the Storm Halls! The trick for each of us to make a game separately and look in the Storm Halls for any Fallen. If we saw any skeletons, remake the game and try again. To confuse the matter further, the non-elite version of Fallen Cur is "Fallen Mutt", pfft.

One legendary day for me. First I got the same mask 420 posted below. Not very exciting. Then later in the evening during a plan run with 420 and Mo the Gladiator bracers dropped. Not too shabby. 420 dropped off and Mo and I continued to farm act 4 and that's when the axe fell. Mo commented that I was having some nice luck. Well then he scooted out to bed and I thought I might as well finish the area and then the second voodoo mask dropped. Now I was on a major high and kept at it and the key warden dropped the big 2 hander. Izual dropped a staff plan to finish off the day of golden brown beacons for me. Somehow I fear that i may have used up my legendary quota for the next few months in just one day. The big run of 4 items came from one game where I was running at 375% MF.

Luck was a lady tonight! All but the boots came off one run and I only did 3. My run is just the keep depths and the fortified bunker if it spawns. Don't think I'll ever make one of those gems in the near future. Seriously, it is so obvious that Blizzard made it so that you will buy gold from the RMAH. Only the really meticulous tweakers would spend the resources for one of those. If it were significantly better instead of just one step above the previous top gem then I might consider it.

Just sold an item on the hard core auction house for 1 million gold (850K after Blizzard tax). My level 41 hard core Witch Doctor now has nearly 2 million gold! And, of course, all that is going into equipment upgrades from the auction house.

Went on an Alkaizer Run (MP0) this morning to check out my magic finder's new gear. This dropped about 15 minutes into the run (gotta love 375% magic find):

Apparently this is one half of one of the most popular set combos. If you combine it with a Natalya's Reflection (http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/natalyas-reflection) ring that rolls 6% critical hit chance (max for a ring) as one of it's random mods you get a total of 13% critical hit chance!

So far having a good experience with the 1.0.8 changes. Monster density is awesome, item drop rates are amazing, and friend/party interfaces rock.

Got my first legendary in hardcore today. To bad its not much use to me.
Also picked up The Inna's weapon. Pretty good but needs more of the set to be worth using right now.
Next after getting through HC I also got the friends like these achievement. This is much easier now with the increased mob density. Managed it in the cathedral level 4. Saw a good sized mob of skels off one side and a mob of bats ahead so I used tempest rush with my monk to see if there were any harvesters nearby. I found 6 of them along with another big mob. So i quickly kited them all together, focused my attack on one harvester and let it pop. The down side was I used all my spirit in getting the group together so I got caught up in the blast and pulled the achievement postmortem.
Lastly thanks to my ISP's legendary ability to crap out at the drop of a hat I managed to get some shots of the barbarian whirlwind sans the extra vfx. Dance fat boy dance!

Churned out my first batch of forged items this morning. Spent around 1 mil gold, mostly on chest pieces. My Witch Doctor and secondary Wizard got new chest armor, increasing both their damage by around 4k.
However, my main Wizard, Frostillicus, got three items that increased her damage by 6.2K and increased her life by 9.2K while keeping her defense the same:

Ya good find. Got mine many moons ago. Anyway, since all items are now obsolete until the expansion I think I'll not worry about farming D3 until then.

They are going to make Paragon level account wide, so, the general consensus from the community is that Blizzard will combine the Paragon experience from all of your characters and that will determine your starting combined Paragon level. So, farming for items may not be worth it right now, but farming for XP is (if that is how Blizzard is going to do it).
I'll be on this evening, I recently unloaded my mule (secondary monk) and gave her a new set of skills based on the top monk player (according to www.diabloprogress.com).

I forgot Throbble and I had plans to go out to dinner Wednesday night. However, we farmed Act 3 on MP 5 a bit last night and I got two legendary items! The first was a Zunimassa's Vision (set voodoo mask) and the second with a Manticore (pictured below). My Demon Hunter now does 97.5K damage! Sweet.

Three legendary items dropped for me in one game yesterday evening! A Gidbinn cerimonial knife, Tasker and Theo gloves, and an Ivory Tower shield. The first two weren't as good as the ones I already had but the shield was better than the one my Templar was using.
Either way it equates to 3 Firey Brimstone. Now if I could just find something to use them for...

Got 4 legendary items on Thursday night. None of them were extremely nice but two made a bit of personal Diablo history. Fist the Cindercoat (probably the 5th one that I've seen drop) deserves a note because it is the first legendary that I can, with 100% certainty, say was forced dropped by the barbarian skill, Threatening Shout - Grim Harvest rune. It dropped during a jar of souls event from one of the skeletons at the back of the pack. The other noteworthy item is, My VERY FIRST Stone of Jordan, EVER! After over 10 years of D2 and then this game I finally get one of these bad boys! And let's see it has a boost to a Witch Doctor skill I don't use, and a damage boost to a type my witch doctor does not have, and a big boost to the Witch Doctor mana resource which my Witch Doctor does not need because he's a super efficient build that uses very little mana. So that means this ring is useful only 1% of the time when fighting elites. The very first one of this ring I get and its completely smegging USELESS!!! This is so pathetic it's almost not worth parting it for a brimstone. Time to make like Charlie Brown again: (sigh) I got a rock.

Actually the "Adds X% to [type] Damage" affix is not grammatically correct. Remove the "to" and it makes more sense. Blizzard confirmed awhile back that the affix adds damage of that type, not to that type.
So it should read: "Adds 6% Lightning Damage" or possibly, "Adds 6% of your total damage as Lightning damage", how about, "Increases your damage by 6% as Lightning" (I think the last one is the clearest.)
The real tragedy is that, if the SoJ rolled with Wizard affixes, it would couple really well with the Storm Crow. It would increase your damage by 13% and increase your damage against elites by 24%!
Hell, it may still be worth using with the Storm Crow even with the Witch Doctor affixes. Equip them both on a Wiz and see what the damage increase it like.

EDIT: There is an affix that adds specifically to skills that do a certain damage type (like the legendary wand Fragment of Destiny (http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/fragment-of-destiny)). For example: "Lightning skills deal 15-25% more damage."

The only ones I got in D2 were traded for. Fairly cheap, I got three for a somewhat uncommon set item that I got from farming Mephisto. One of them got deleted in the big SoJ dupe wipe.

So, back in the beginning of June I saw something for sale on the auction house that I just couldn't pass up. A really nice Skorn for 15K gold! So I bought it and let it sit in the auction house stash until I could decide what to do with it. Initially I didn't want to use it because I'm a "self found" player and I figured I could flip it on the auction house for more gold.
However, due to the upcoming auction house closure and the fact that all items will be obsolete when the expansion introduces level 70 items, I decided yesterday to retrieve the Skorn and give it to my secondary barbarian.

If you search on "Dawn [Legacy]" there are only 9 there, the lowest buyout is 35m for a non-socketed one. Then the socketed ones range from 150M to 1.2B. I guess it's a good weapon to level with if you have a big ass ruby to stick in it.

A couple pics that didn't come out (they came out all black with a cursor) were the new "nephalem orbs" which drop like health orbs and temporarily give you a boost to your damage and run speed. This temporary timer can be reset by picking up more nephalem or health orbs and the effect can stack up to five time.
The other was a "Cursed Chest" and "Cursed Shrine" next to each other. I activated the shrine which caused skeletons to spawn. Once I beat them the shrine turned into a normal Shrine of Protection and the chest turned into a Resplendent Chest.

Okay this is insane. New amulet pretty nice but this freaking bow man! Total game changer! Now my old favorite skill is the resource builder and that opened up a chance to add another skill to stack on more damage. To which I now use vengance. Had to change the placement of my skills to be a little easier to use. Still trying to get used to that. Between this bow and the amulet my dps jumped over 100k.

P.S. Also, now that you are no longer using Evasive Fire you should reroll the Evasive Fire stat on your quiver (since it's already a rerolled stat).

I've been taking shots of items with silly names. Here's a collection.
First The smashing thing... yeah I'm not going to type that all out just look at the thing. Second a ring that needs no introduction for its false advertising. Where is the super laser ability? Dream Confession; That is either an ordinary day for your therapist or a really eventful one for your priest. Finally: Arr mateys! Mutiny be our last resort to standoff hunger! We must liberate the Captain's stash of key lime skewers for ourselves! Seriously when that orb dropped I could swear that was the name. It's actual name is not as silly mind you but there is no way you can call that a skewer.

So, I used two NPCs that are new in the expansion: Kadala the Blood Shard merchant where I bought randomly generated items for Blood Shards, and Myriam the Mystic which I used to change a single item mod to be more useful.

Yeah, that was a crazy day! I wonder if they boosted magic find now that it's no longer a standard item mod.
The next day (Thursday) I crafted these bracers and found this belt with my primary barb. They each have a very nice (and symbiotic) legendary mod which changes the mechanic of health globes in a very interesting way.

Here are a couple of wizard sources I found recently. The Firebird one is very classy looking. Too bad that is one of the items that you don't get a transmog appearance for. It's a bit hard to tell by the pic but it has three wings rising from it. The other source is D: desirable, it is I: incredible, it is S: super shiny, it is C: crazy crazy, it is OOOOOoooooOOOOOHHH!

Now that the unique legendary crafting material has been removed from the game it's a lot easier to craft legendary/set items now. Yesterday I finally got an upgrade for my Demon Hunter's bow. He's been using a level 67 bow for months now. For some reason all my other classes have gotten multiple level 70 legendary upgrades to their weapons but my DH just hasn't had any luck.
Anyway, this was the second bow I crafted but it took about 10 tries to reroll the elite damage mod for a socket:

Right before I left for a weekend camping trip my arcane wizard ran into a treasure goblin, who unfortunately got away.

Found plans to craft a legendary claw (fist weapon) yesterday and I was able to finally get the first decent claw since RoS was released. Don't know why Blizzard is so stingy when it comes to dropping decent claws but between crafting rare ones, buying ones from Kadala, and the one shitty legendary claw that actually dropped for me, this is the first time I've got my hands on something I can use, and it isn't even that good!

Once again I am scratching my head over the aesthetic decisions of Blizzard regarding headwear. The Marauder helm looked neat in the description, like it might have these wicked cat ears on it. Now I have it and... Really? What kind of archer would want a helm that gives you tunnel vision worse than a carriage hose with blinders on? Maybe it gives you a secret tai-jitsu heabutt killing move that counts as a bane attack vs. Klingons? Yikes, I better be careful now. Any more geeky cross-over references and I could rip a hole through time, death, and reality.
