Title: Quotes!
Post by: Soul Sojourner on April 01, 2007, 01:00:59 AM
Hiya peoples! :D

This thread is for the posting of your favorite quotes, actually, not even that. Just the posting OF quotes you like, whether it's your favorite, or just one you happen to find interesting. Post it! If this seems a little bit stupid to you well, I think it's fun, and not only that, allows for an interesting opportunity for one to learn new quotes that they may want to use in the future or whatnot. I know I'm always looking for new quotes that interest me, just as I do new words I may find particularly neat and to my liking. ^^

I'll start this off, with a quote from my absolute favorite movie, and a couple other sweet ones.

"It's only after we've lost everything, that we're free to do anything." - Fight Club.

"Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one." - Benjamin Franklin

"The best prophet of the future, is the past." - No fucking idea.
It means more to me than a regular quote, though.

Franklin said a lot of smart things.

Quote

-Lord Horatio Nelson

*grins* Just wrote a 26 page paper on him and found that quote hilarious.

It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.... -cookies to whoever can correctly tell me. Probably not a hard one to find. ;)

Frivilous yet amusing:
Or we could switch it to the past tense of shat. There used to be a ton of squirrels on top of my bird feeder and they'd shat on it. Now I have a shield and they just shat all around it. -My history teacher.

And of course the one I think of often.
There is always a kid so miserable he is willing to torture others - ignore them. -our very own Throbblefoot.

"You're an abmoniation in the eyes of the lord!" -Dr. Frankenstein, one of the older movie adaptations. My manager has been saying this lately because he likes the word "abomination."

@420, I didn't say every post had to be a quote! I'm not a Nazi! =P

@Throbblefoot, Keith simply fucking rocks, it's that simple.

@Razor Blade, I know what it means. I meant that the particular quote means more to me than it would otherwise, for reasons which I have not explained.

@Elessar, lmfao.

"Of what use is reason without love? Love is life; if you wish to live, die in love." - Unknown, but I believe it's from a movie. I also can't seem to find it on the net. I love this quote, it matches nicely with the following:

"I am only unreasonable because I have lost all reason." - Alexis Denisof. Said as character Wesley Wyndam-Pryce from Angel when the love of his life died.

I think I've mentioned 2 or 3 musicals on lucidmagic, all of them very good musicals at that. So my music tastes don't conform to the norm, it's not that I dislike all new music as that I don't have a particular liking to it.

Deal with it.

Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead.

-- Ben Franklin, Poor Richard's Almanac

Wide open and unguarded stand our gates,
And through them passes a wild motley throng.
Men from Volga and Tartar steppes.
Featureless figures from the Hoang-ho,
Malayan, Scythian, Teuton, Kelt and Slav,
Flying the Old World's poverty and scorn;
These bringing with them unknown gods and rites,
Those tiger passions here to stretch their claws,
In street and alley what strange tongues are these,
Accents of menace in our ear,
Voices that once the Tower of Babel knew.

-- Thomas Bailey Aldrich,
"The Unguarded Gates," 1882

How could life be judged as either beautiful or hideous if there were no life to judge it so? :D

Hmm, how odd. I already have Star Wars: Clone Wars on DVD (the Cartoon Network version). Is this just the same story with new 3D animation?

You're misquoting me.  I think that quote is concerning the migration to SMF.  The recent down time had nothing to do with the board.  It was a bad luck combination between hard drive failure/me doing out of town/ISP trouble.  I do believe I've corrected all those issues minus me going out of town since that will happen again.

Damn, why is everyone so hyper about CoD 4? I got the exact same reaction from one of my friends about it. "Play CoD 4 or you are not worthy of living on this planet you inconsiderate scum-bag!"

Resistance vs Halo - Ps3 Win

Oh man, we're really missing out ^^

My only regret is the half broken Lespaul guitars that the PS3 gets with GH3. On that note, Rock Band is a lot of fun and in my opinion probably overall a better multiplayer game than Guitar Hero.

CoD4? Shit, I haven't played it in almost two weeks now. I bought a few games a couple weeks ago, been busy with those. You know it's on for this weekend though. If all I need to do is play a game for a chance to win prizes, even if it's a lie and I'll enjoy playing the game anyway, shit I'm doing it! I better get the grand prize though, I can't accept anything less than the best, of course. CoD4 kicks ass, I haven't found a shooter I like better than it yet, but I just got my 360 only a couple months ago, so I've yet to play many. Of course I've played all of the Halo's, can't say it's my favorite shooter. I've got Rainbow Six Vegas 2, but I've played little of it, it's sweet, but I can't see how the online play will be able to compare with CoD4.

360 loud? My friend's makes it sound like he's mowing the lawn, but his is a piece of shit. My elite is quiet as hell, it's only louder now that I attached a cooling system to it's ass with three fans on it. It's still not nearly as loud as my friend's is.

I'm waiting for Saints Row 2 to come out, and GTA: IV is at our doorstep. I'll get them both when I have the chance. Good thing for you guys with PS3's that Saints Row 2 is coming out on PS3 as well, cause the first one kicks ass.

I know you guys secretely love the 360 though, if only because it keeps me off the forum. Ahahaha!

Oh, it has nothing to do with *ability* to come on. My computer is right along the wall behind me when I'm playing 360 and both have internet. I'm just too lazy to turn on the computer if I'm playing games. I usually do one thing at a time anyway, so I don't switch between games often unless I've already beat the piss out of them all. I stick to one thing at a time usually and so I don't often go on the Xbox and computer both within the day. Then when I get home I just want to sit down and relax, so I usually want to play a game. Besides that, I like to post alot, so if I go on the computer to post, I am unlikely to be getting back to whatever game I was playing until I'd be ready for bed anyway. Never enough time to do everything, it sucks.

Summary: Lazy.

Today though, my fiance is with my parents, grandma and neice, visiting my sister and her few-week-old child. (I don't feel like counting, screw you.) So instead of just doing one thing I'm doing pretty much nothing, played a little CoD4, tried watching tv, listened to some music, made some posts, and that's pretty much it. *wave*

P.S. Why the fuck would I want to browse the web on my Xbox? I bought it for games, shiiit. lol.

Isn't this a quote thread? Hmm....
