Downloading the patch was the first thing I did.  Second thing I did was update my display drivers.  The third thing I did was play the game, and I still can't get to that tavern.  After it freezes, I wait for something like ten minutes before closing it, and when I hit Alt+F4 it says "Unpacking Module" for a split second before the program shuts down.  It's incredibly frustrating.

My real question is: How did this make it past a year of QA?

Because it's a convenience feature, not a vital feature. I received a bug on it, programming didn't have time to implement it, and QA/development played the game without it.

I understand that it's a nice feature, whether you're dual-wielding or using weapon/shield, but it really is a matter of convenience.

tisk tisk

@Cobra

Sorry can't answer that question, except that you should perhaps update your sound drivers and have a look at the sound options in game and play around with them.

Well I got my geforce 6200 installed and NWN2 works now.  I'm playing at 1024x768 res with quality set to around medium i guess, and shadows turned off.  Frames seem good so far.  I tried fps in the command console but it didn't recognize.  How do you check frame rate in game?

Now onto my problem.  I seem to have a graphical problem.  I am in the fair and the sky is black.  See attachment.  Any ideas? Anyone have a similar problem?  Video drivers are up to date.  I messed around with all the graphics settings nothing seemed to fix the problem.

EDIT: Problem disappears in windowed mode. hmmm.

Windowed mode? Did you try screwing with the resolution to see if it changes something?

You cant play online because you dont have the walkmeshes and other server files for the mods that they are playing.

I posted a couple screenshots of the sun setting. Day/night cycle exists along with the ability to adjust the size/color of the sun as well as the speed at which it travels through the sky.

I think Razor is right, something about the GeForce 6200. Try reverting to the manufacturer's drivers that came with the card or to an early version if you don't have the disk.

Razor: Does the sky fix itself if you put it into windowed mode like Mo did?

In 1.0 you had to have a copy of the mod locally. With the 1.01 patch they fixed it so that you can create a "Client Pack", which is a much smaller file that contains just the walkmesh. Check out instructions here (http://lucidmagic.net:8080/forum/index.php?showtopic=2517).

Grrrr... Let's start this topic..

The game is fantastic, maybe more than fantastic!

But I have my first problem.. Grrrrr

When I launch the game at 1024x768 the screen refresh rate automatically goes to 59Hz, and this causes a little strange noise from the monitor..

I have an nvidia ge force 7600gt on a 17" LG Flatron M1717A.

wonder to know if someone could help about this..
thanks

ps
Other games don't cause this problem.

You've probably already seen this, but this post (http://lucidmagic.net:8080/forum/index.php?showtopic=2501&view=findpost&p=32412) and down seems to be alot about some problems with the Nvidia Geforce 6200. Perhaps it has something to do with the type of card in general? Well, those are some problems that have already been reported.

Did you try checking how it ran in windowed mode, or at different resolutions?

Has anyone with other types of cards had any problems like these?
Title: NwN2 Troubleshoot
Post by: Frank10LR on November 06, 2006, 03:56:06 PM
Yes, with other resolutions I don't have this problem, anyway i prefer 1024x768 because the game with all graphics setting to the max works very well..

If i could change the refresh rate it would work properly, now i remember.. with gothic 3 i had the same problem and i changed the in game refresh rate to 75.

I don't know about your problem Frankie, but when it comes to the screwed up sky boxes... well... it seems the worst of the worst is happening to people with Nvidia GeForce 6200 cards. Other people are having similiar problems with that.
Link. (http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=510515&forum=116)

Frankie, have you tried going through some of your cards display options/properties? If what you try doesn't work, I'd give it a whirl, I seen some other random cases of people having problems with flat screen monitors.

I'm using 1280x1024 60Hz, this mode doesn't give problems, anyway the game is not fluid with all options at max of course. :P  Anyway my problem isn't the video card, but the monitor with 1024x768@60Hz.

Is there an option to shut skyboxes off or anything like NWN had? I suppose none at all might be better then completely fucked up ones.

Also, there could be a chance something in the display options (/driver controls/advanced video options/whatever you want to call them) that may actually solve the problem, though I doubt it, it might be worth checking.

Alright then, my guess is alot of this stuff will be patched up sooner or later, as Mo states in another thread. "Beta testing." Fucking shit guys, I'm beginning to be more and more glad that I decided to wait. lol.

P.S. I love the "find post" feature, even when things are moved, that link still works. Makes me wonder why people don't use it more... actually... no it doesn't.
