Title: Tournament rules/faq/date
Post by: Morticia on January 11, 2005, 12:41:01 PM
K, since u cant put new toppics up on arivs part i post things here.
Participating  groups:
1.Antedilluvians
2.Brujah
3.Death Can Dance
4.Doriath A
5.Doriath B
6.Doriath C

Ive asked my brother to draw who fights against who and these are the results, i will include here the date and time i expect these groups on the place. I put the time in Dutch time (since the time zones is too complicated for me:p , but i dont think its hard for u to count ur own time from there)

DoriathA-Antedilluvians (saturday 22/01 at 13.00 hours)
Brujah-DoriathC (saturday 22/01 at 14.00 hours)
DcD-DoriathB (saturday 22/01 at 15.00 hours)
*16.00 hours : Batle royal (Since we need 4 winners to go on to the next round ive decided to have a batle royal with the 3 losing groups, winner of it will get his ticket to next round)

Location:
well i will write melisa if it will be possible to run Arivs at that time. If its possible tournament will be held there, if not it will be held at justbehave server. So excact location will follow soon.
I will also ask to make this server PASSWORD PROTECTED. I will send the password to the group leaders  (alkti, Razor, Blood-Angel) so they cann pass it on to the players.
I expect that the 2 battling groups come to the server at time , i will allow a 15min tollerance. make sure u dont come to early either , that will cause unneeded lag for the groups that duel that time. There will be no visitors/watchers present. i will make a team of 3 who will be judge. If a certan groups shows up with only 2/1 person then the question will be asked to the opposite group if they will drop 1/2 players or not. If not, the battle continues with 3vs2 or 3vs1.

restrictions:
1.When all players arive i expect on the head judge (me :P) sign to stop talking and listening for batle restriction, this avoids chaos, mis or not understanding and me repeating everything 2
2.On my signal each team will stand at the edge of the batlefield and make the opposite team hostile
3.When i say go , u can begin the fight (no prebuffing)
4.The battle is won when ur team won 2 rounds (a round is won when opponent team is killed)
5.To make it more tactical: after round 1, the LOSING group, will have the opportunity to get new characters (players remain the same), should they win the next round, the other team has advantage of this opportunnity.

rules:
:excl: penalty of breaking these is lost of a round :excl:
1.No healing of any kind
2.No hellball
3.hiding is min every 6 seconds
4.When u got killed , u have to go immediatly after respawning to the main entering door in arivs (big door that is always locked there when u enter server)
5.No bitching after a round, it is to the judges to decide wether other team cheated

so i think if said everything, if there are more questions do it here are any more

WoF has a fort save to last 6 seconds on arivs. (normal dc level 7 spell + 1/2 casterlevel) Also I might have things scripted out later. But I won't talk about that until I finished the tvt. I'm too busy right now to worry about that.

Arivs will be on for the tournie. I prolly will run nwserver on the old host (makes that everything is split over 3 machines, that won't lag for sure)

What is that time > GMT ? GMT +2 ? I think it's GMT +1/+2 but I am not sure about dutch time .
The rules seems fair to me . But is resurrection considered healing ?

Off topic : Mort , I'll be happy to know what is the DcD team because I thought Ade , Kazz , me would be the team but I saw King Kong who told me he would be in DcD team . I've got some ideas about the teams too PM me about that .

Regeneration and wof will be allowed.
and i dont realy understand ur question kristie. is it that ur group will be able to watch the other groups duels? Well a 15 minute tollerance is allowed, so if by example ur group battle start at 14.00 hours, then u can show up at 13.45-14.15

:excl: ow and about the time zone , i post now the dutch time in here: 17.45
so if u take time to see when i posted this reply on lucid magic time and if u count out how much lucid magic time difference from ur time u can easily count out how much dutch time differences from ur time. Just a lil math :P :excl:

i would imagine so, you are GMT then (the only one to be :))
Title: Tournament rules/faq/date
Post by: Morticia on January 12, 2005, 02:20:13 PM
am is after midday right?
and its 12/01 at u too right?
well if it is :
17.45====08.43am
so a difference of 3 hours
4.43pm====8.43am
so a difference of 16 hours
3-16 is -13

so u need to count down 13 hours at the tournament hour posted

if am is before midday and its 12/01 at ur place too:
17.45===8.43am
a difference of 9 hours
4.43pm===8.43am
a difference of 8 hours
8-9 is -1
so u need to count down 1 hour

hm , i think am is before midday:p

I hope everybody figures out their timezones before Saturday  :/

http://www.worldtimezone.com/ (http://www.worldtimezone.com/)

Try World Timezone Maps at the top and select either 12hr or 24 hr

Who are the judges and how many do you need? One judge per player?

Why not have the judges freeze whoever dies that way they can't interfere in anyway possible?
Title: Tournament rules/faq/date
Post by: James_2k on January 12, 2005, 04:33:11 PM
good idea, when they hit the deck, use the rune on them and they will stay down.

and there are 3 judges..

my question was....... when a part of the team died he must go in a other room thats not fair for him he cant even see the end of his won match and i was wondering if there is ani chance that a team or a team member that particpi at the tourney but is not fighting (ex: doriath vs brujha could a dcd member that particip in the tourney comme see the match)

re: dead ppl, well maybe they could be stunned on the floor when dead (as you know this means that the player stays down in arivs)

Re: spectators, i wouldnt mind so much, but i think mort thinks that it would add an element of possible confusion to the proceedings if there were non-participants present.. naturally this might be wrong, i guess we wait until mort arrives.

Title: Tournament rules/faq/date

well players from other teams aren't supposed to join till their match is up.
Title: Tournament rules/faq/date
Post by: Morticia on January 13, 2005, 08:28:04 AM
as i said , there is a 15 min tollerance kristie for other teams to join the server.
why this decission that non fighting teams cant watch other teams fight?
simple, causes unneeded lag. as u know the tourney will run on arivs, 3vs3 makes 6 + 3 judges makes 9 players active. If we allow other teams then the player load will be too high wich influences the duel.
off course i ll post the results down here after the first day. u need them for the halve finals :P

for the stay on ground issue or not: well i dont know how the tvt arena will be, will players get teleported or not? i dont know. We ll have to wait until melisa gives more info on that.

Bloodangel: its realy more accurate if u count out ur time my way :P at least if u do it right.
let me try to pull out a lil formula here for it.

((ur time in hours)-(LucidMagic time in hours))-9 = hours u have to count up to ur tourney time

for example:
i look to lm time on forum, it says 05.00 am
on the same time i look on my watch, it says 03.25am
--->03.25-05.00=-2.35
--->-2.35-9=-11.35
--->suppose my tournament hour is 14.00 hour dutch time
      14.00+(-11.35)=02.25
--->so this poor bastard has to get out of bed at 02.25am to play a tourney :P

if u find this to difficult to count (sigh) then just meet someone who lives in a dutch zone in nwn and ask him what time it is at that moment , compare that to ur time and u have the difference between ur timezone and dutch timezone
Title: Tournament rules/faq/date

RAWR! you could just look at the map meclar posted and say where you are (0,+1,+2 or +3) and tell me if the times are told in 0,+1,+2 or +3, cuz I'm on 0 and then it's pretty accurate telling wether or not I'm 1 hour behind or not. So far I think it's 1 hour behind so your +1, but I hate things like these, because for the battles ppl started telling me I'm GTM+1, but I'm obviously not.....

(Times on LM are shown as what you've chosen, so if you set it to your own times zone it's the time you have at home).

woah those times arew a bit nasty, anyone in europe (which is quite a lot) will be getting up at like 3/4 in the morning :/

imo those times are a bit too nasty, should be  around 7pm gmt so the whole of europe is fine and usa is fine too ( around 1pm for usa)

unless im doing some bad time calculations, not that its obvious what time it is, why dont u jsut post what time it is, ie gmt-5?  :o

well, maybe i misunderstoon but mort said she will have to get up at 2am in the morning, and shes on gmt+1.  maybe she meant 2pm or was just using a random time for example. either way it seems matches r gonna be around 2pm gmt

If say, a couple of clan members wanted to watch the battle their clan fought in, if Arivs is as Mel said it would be, then lagg should'nt be a problem, and with a max of fifteen ppl then say 1 person per battle group could stay an watch, 3 judges and 6 battlers, and then 1 person per clan battling, that'd make 11 ppl, that's not so much, and Mel plans to have things going to reduce lagg so all should be well. The extra 3 members watching could be placed on the opposite side of the judges around the area where they battle, the 3 members could be put in thrones and watch, out of the way. I dunno just a suggestion, but I really wanna watch my clan fight, if I don't end up replacing someone anyway...(it'd be a bit tough, considering I'm lvl 20 only)
Title: Tournament rules/faq/date

France is on GMT +2 so if it's on 11h45 AM on GMT, it's on 13h45 for the first match . So the DcD match would be on 15h45 I think .

I probably be there on GMT +2 14h00 PM
Title: Tournament rules/faq/date
Post by: Blood Angel on January 14, 2005, 08:37:59 AM
times seem to be a prob.... for everyone, especially the US :P

be  on early and make sure you can get in in time, prolly wouldn't hurt to jump on and ask when your fighting so that mort could tell you it's in.... lets say 1 hour.
Title: Tournament rules/faq/date
Post by: Morticia on January 14, 2005, 09:54:53 AM
indeed, u can always jump in AND OUT :P
But realy, forget what i said about the formula, its correct but a much easier way is to look at link meclar posted in here. U can then select the exact current time in Belgium, so u have then the dutch time on that moment

and for hellmaster : quite simple , no. I cant allow that , i cant allow an exception to watch cuz that wont be fair on the first place and on the second i wanna have as less lag as possible.

u players :P , always looking for backdoors :P
u get only 1 life in tournament , so res isnt allowed.
if a player that dies do not immediatly go to the arranged point he will be knocked down. If that player, before he gets knocked down, damages other people the group will loose a round

now, cuz i trust only participants go to arivs and cuz ive asked melisa to get our hand on banning tools for that day i write the password in here now for arivs server

well its secret for wanderers who dont know about arivs or lm forum and see a server full of people (a lot)
for those who do know the password but arent involved in tourney and thinks they could come and watch... well , a boot/temp. BAN awaits them
but i dont think that kind of people wanders the streets of the forums

Normally arivs can serve, but you shouldn't count only on arivs, I'm not that active on nwn now. Because I'm way too busy with other things.

It's just +1 gmt. And you really should know what gmt time you're on. It's a bit needed when you aren't isolated to your timezone.

no we didnt get "owned"

for starters we were missing maxou AGAIN, our best tpvp player

second of all i was not aware of how flat changes when hostile creature is attacking someone else, something that in the last round i was told and then suddenly after singling out opponent i was hitting all again. then of course i crashed ><

and as for DOR C being too strong for us, well look at the results of us v dor A, theres no way Blood Angel, Anheg and Ron are any less stronger than kristie delly and ron, and what was the outcome of that fight?

Owned is never a good word to use. It doesn't sounds respectfull to me.

Also, there was a match where everyone died exept 1 that was near death. I call that a good fight :)

I told you Doriath would adapt themselves . You kept using same tech that was the one they expected .

Leaving the crashes apart (blood and kannixxxx), i think it was a close battle, referring to doriath c vs. dcd, which result was based on tactics, as Max says.  Also, having a pure mage as Kristie helped a lot cuz he distracted most of dcd members.

I liked a lot that round when only Kristie and Bzk were left... a mages duel to decide the destiny of each team, and the remaining corpses shouting GOGOGO from the floor. XD. Really nice.

Ron.

I think that a 3vs3 tournie with mages only can be quite some fun. The mantle/breach chain easy can be broken if 1 use dispel, the other right afther it a damage spell. It needs teamplay and timeing to do. I think it's better to limit the amount of mages for a normal tournie too, to keep a bit difference in the builds used.

Also, seems like poeple forgot that lowerresistance works on arivs, those resist monk wouldn't have lived that long if you used just 1 mords on them. The calculation would have been castlevel + piercefeats + mords + 1-20.  (mords and breaches don't stack)

List of those that were part of the tournie (random order):[ol type=\'a\'][li][DcD] {LoS} Maxou of Doriath[/li][li]Brior Nailuisen[/li][li]Delly Rogers Doriath[/li][li]James -=DE=-[/li][li]Blood Angel, Leader of LucidMagic~s Guild, High E...
