"Canada claimed the passage in 1973 but competition to control the Arctic has intensified with global warming. Shrinking polar ice has raised the possibility of new shipping lanes and development of what one U.S. study suggested could be as much as 25 percent of the world's undiscovered oil and gas." -Associated Press Writer (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070819/ap_on_re_ca/bush_canada_mexico)
I guess we now know exactly what our leaders think about global warming.

Quicktime is a virus. That's why it doesn't work.Agreed.
I'm certain that this game is a huge graphics engine eater, and I don't know how they got it to work without the game crashing every time. The representative there at PAX told me they had given NWN2 a complete overhaul with improved graphics and lighting.Funny that the expansion is really the rest of the game. Sad that they sold us half a game claiming it was finished.

Travelers ask to see Craig bathroom"Royal Zino". Really?
Sun Sep 16, 4:33 PM ET
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - When tourists ask for the bathroom in the Minneapolis airport lately, it's usually not because they have to go.
It's because they want to see the stall made famous by U.S. Sen. Larry Craig's arrest in a sex sting.
"It's become a tourist attraction," said Karen Evans, information specialist at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. "People are taking pictures."
Craig was arrested June 11 by a Minneapolis airport police officer. The Idaho Republican pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Craig has since said his guilty plea was a mistake. His request to withdraw the guilty plea will be heard Sept. 26, just four days before he has said he will step down from his Senate seat.
Just 15 minutes into her shift on Friday, Evans said she had been asked directions to the new tourist attraction four times. Other airport workers field the same question.
"It's by the Lottery shop, right next to the shoeshine shop," said newsstand worker Abdalla Said, adding he gets the question daily.
The Royal Zino Shoeshine shop owner's grandson, Royal Zino, said it has been hectic.
"People have been going inside, taking pictures of the stall, taking pictures outside the bathroom door â?? man, it's been crazy," he said.
On their way to Guatemala, Jon and Sally Westby of Minneapolis made a visit.
"We had to just stop and check out the bathroom," Sally said. "In fact, it's Jon's second time â?? he was here last week already."
"If you pulled all the city buses and police cruisers and did the same thing they did to us, it would be the same issues, know what I'm saying?"Hilarious comment on that:
"If you pulled all the city buses and police cruisers and did the same thing they did to us, it would be the same issues, know what I'm saying?" NO, Mr Cook, I DON'T!!!! We are REQUIRED by law to inspect our buses every time we use them, and we DO NOT use unsafe equipment. If something is broken, it is taken out of service & the mechanics fix it before that bus moves again. Those same mechanics also work on the police vehicles, and they DO A GREAT JOB! Please refrain from insulting the hard working drivers and mechanics at the MTA. Our vehicles cannot be compared to the deathtraps I see driving around with "Taxi" written on them.-Throbblefoot

Panic attacks, heart attacks linked in study
Mon Oct 1, 6:32 PM ET
CHICAGO (Reuters) - People who experience the anxiety, racing heartbeat and rapid breathing of a panic attack have a higher risk of a heart attack or stroke, researchers said on Monday.
"Our study adds panic attacks to the list of emotional states and psychiatric symptoms that have been linked to excess risk of cardiovascular disease and death," wrote study author Dr. Jordan Smoller of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Previous research found people with persistent feelings of depression, anger and hostility are at higher risk of heart attack, according to the study, published in the Archives of General Psychiatry.
The study identified a more than three-fold increased risk of a heart attack or stroke within five years in 330 women who had originally reported a panic attack in the prior six months. They were among 3,369 women aged 51 to 83 to participate in the study.
Smoller said several factors may be at work, including that the symptoms of panic attacks inflict damage on the heart and the cardiovascular system.
Feelings of panic could induce blood platelet production that increases the risk of a blood clot, which can trigger a heart attack or stroke. Panic attacks also may lead to a spasm of an artery feeding the heart, which can reduce or cut off blood flow, he added.
PIKEVILLE, Ky. - Kentucky officials on Thursday sued the manufacturer of OxyContin, the prescription pain reliever dubbed "hillbilly heroin," because of widespread abuse in Appalachia.
Which party is more pathetic? The 'officials' or the manufacturer? You say that as if they aren't the same thing.
You say that as if they aren't the same thing. Why would they sue themselves?

Thieves steal 17 tons of Christmas ham
December 2, 2007
SYDNEY, Australia - Thieves stole 17.6 tons of ham and bacon from a warehouse and left behind a message busting the owners' chops, police said Monday.
"Thanks," the crooks daubed on a wall of the Zammit Hand and Bacon curers warehouse in suburban Sydney. "Merry Christmas."
Police said the robbery occurred some time between late afternoon Saturday and dawn Sunday.
Owner Anthony Zammit said that when he arrived for work Monday he found a hole in a wall of the building where the thieves appeared to have entered. The stolen meat was worth up to $88,000, he said.
Zammit said he was offering a $4,420 reward for anyone who helped to recover the meat, and that his company would work overtime to make sure all its Christmas orders were filled.
"We're working 24 hours a day, seven days a week and put on extra staff," he said. "We won't let anyone down."
