« on: July 19, 2006, 09:04:38 PM »
I know many of you don't even play in the Lineage2 server, but you can vote for our server once a day which will get us more players and make the gameplay more fun for the players that play there.

General Gaming / Free Lineage2 Private Server
« on: July 15, 2006, 07:15:17 PM »
I'm here to tell this community about a fun, high-quality and free MMORPG. The game's called Lineage 2 and it's made by the same company that brought you Guildwars, City of Heroes and City of Villains. On the official servers, it costs $15/mo to play, but thanks to the wonders of open source server emulation, the game can be played for free legally. And in the game, perhaps you guys can make your own clan for your own community.

About the game:
Lineage 2 is an MMORPG, with the races Orc, Elf, Dark Elf, Human and Dwarf. Each races have their own advantages and disadvantages. For example, Dwarves are the money makers of the game and have very high HP, but they have decent attack power and don't get many skills. There is no cross-race competition, people of different races work together, can be of the same clans, alliances, etc.

The game Lineage 2 was released in 2004 - but that does not mean it's old. Every 6 months there are -huge- updates called Chronicles which includes new areas, new equipment, new looks, and so on. This server is on the latest, Chronicle 4. Chronicle 5 will be released soon.

Character Evolution
The whole thing goes down in the world of Aden. When making your character, you choose your race, and get to customize your character. You also choose between two types of classes (usually, it's Fighter or Mage). You have this very basic class until you hit 20, at which point you can upgrade your class into two choices which have two very different uses. The same happens for level 20-40, because by level 40 you get to choose your next class which goes further into specifics.

Let's use a Dark Elf Mage as an example, until level 20 you get a combination of basic skills you'd get from your next classes, but at level 20 you have to choose whether you want to become a damage dealer or a support character. Let's say at level 20 you chose to be a Dark Wizard which is a damage dealing class. Until 40 you get a combination of two types of skills. By level 40, you have to choose between two classes - a spellhowler, which is purely magic spells and handicaps against the opponent. Another choice in this class evolution besides spellhowler is a Phantom Summoner which relies much less heavily on magic skills, but instead on http://lineage2.ogaming.com/gallery/albums/misc/night.jpg]it's monster summons to do the damage dealing or tanking (depends on the summon used), while the character attacks in melee form instead of magic spells.

There is a lot more to the class evolution that is too much to include. More about it can be found at the official site which will be linked at the bottom.

PvP, Clans, Wars
Lineage II is a unique game in that the game is really governed by the people who play the game, more specifically the clans. How it works is that, like any other MMORPG, there are clans. Every clan, once having reached level 3, gets a clan crest - which is a small picture icon above your head representing your clan. A clan can have upto thirty members, but there can be several clans in an alliance.

What's unique about the incentive of PvP and Clans is that every now and then there are Castle Sieges. There are a few castles in the land of Aden, and a central castle which governs the whole place called, appropriately, "The Castle of Aden". Each of these castles under the castle of Aden governs a town. The clan that occupies the castle, even, gets full control on the amount of taxes placed on the town - so everytime something is purchased from the town, the tax goes directly to the clan to help fund for better armour/weapons. There are castle seiges one a castle even if it is occupied - this gives a chance for the clan occupying the castle to defend it against other clans who may want it.

The PvP works in a way different than other MMORPGs. In Lineage 2 there is no common enemy to fight (WoW's a big example of this). Clan/individual competition is not uncommon, however. Usually, a person's name above their name will be white - but if a white attacks another white, it turns purple. If a white attacks a purple, he also turns purple. This is not without reason - it's better if a PvP happens when both are white, this is because if a white/purple was to attack a white to the point of killing him without him attacking back, the killer (known as PKer in the game) has his title turned red (called a Chaotic). Somebody who is red remains so for about three deaths per PK, by each death the players Karma comes down. When a player is chaotic, the chances of him losing his armour/weapons and things in his inventory are much more likely to drop, which can be difficult to get back.

PvE, Raids and so on
The game's got a lot of group PvE, especially as you go higher level. There are minibosses, raidbosses, and a huge boss for each Chronicle. Raids are essential and fun because bosses tend to drop large quantities of items and adena (in-game currency).

A raid on the first Chronicle's boss, Antharas

Pets
The game is not without it's pets. The way pets work in L2 is unlike WoW where you have to be of a certain class to have a pet that is something other than cosmetic. The starter pet is a http://www.lineage2.com/images/knowledge/summon_3.jpg]Wolf, which is a level 15 pet. Next is a level 35 hatchling (baby dragon) - there are three different races of hatchling, one for your classes needs. There's a tank race, a damage dealing race, and one that's middle of the road. When the hatchling is used enough, like a regular game character, it gains XP and levels. Once leveled enough, a hatchling evolves into a strider, which can be ridden (which is much faster than running). Once the strider is evolved, it turns into a http://www.lineage2.com/Knowledge/images/summon_wyvern.jpg]wyvern, which is a dragon you can fly. Unlike World of Warcraft's equivalent, the "Gryphon", a wyvern is point-and-click to fly. You go your own route, just point your dragon flies you as you click (for example you can fly to the roof of a church and dismount there).

Connectivity
If you wish to join us, the fastest way to get in is:

1) Get Flashget [spyware-free], which splits a download from HTTP/FTP into several parts and downloads them simultaneously. This is needed because the official site's download pages is often maxed with users downloading, so flashget will keep retrying until it gets a slot in.

1b) Alternatively (if you wish not to download and use Flashget), you can download it from FilePlanet. If this is the caste, skip step two.

2) Anywhere in your Flashget window, copy-paste this link into it (it will most likely freeze and say "Malloc Disk Space" for a while. This is normal, let it be, it will come out of it). It's best to have to Split Parts set to 10.

3) Download the patch (which can be downloaded at: www.lucidmagic.com/L2patch.exe )to have your client point to our free server.
4) Run your Lineage 2 game and create an account by typing in your desired username and password.

For more information on the game, visit LucidMagic's official site for screenshots, guides, and anything more you'll need.

Have you ever seen a sound barrier? This only happens at the instant an aircraft exceeds the speed of sound and it literally looks like the aircraft goes through a wall.

For all of you people who say youâ??re going to quit NwN, or leave for a while DONâ??T UNINSTALL YOUR GAME! Everyone who quits GodSpire, comes back. Itâ??s a cursed server! So many people here (including myself) uninstall Neverwinter Nights thinking that they are going to quit for good, however you can't quit GodSpire that easily... If you don't want to be hassled in the future to wait an hour or two to install the game, then you know what not to do.

Stories/Quests / Monks and Mages Story/Quest
« on: April 30, 2005, 12:38:05 AM »
In the beginning of recorded time, there were two major professions of Honor in the world. These were Monk, and Wizard. Monks, being of Lawful disposition, had ordered themselves into three ancient Orders, which were represented by colors and according to their morals. There was the Eternal Order of the Sun, also known as EOS, which was represented by yellow, and sometimes white; there was the Eternal Order of the Night, or EON, which was represented by black, but sometimes also deep blue or dark purple. And in between the paths of good and Evil, there was the Eternal Order of Twilight, or EOT, which was represented sometimes by red and sometimes by gray.

The mages were less organized. Because the Art of Magic was young, there were as yet no formal school of magic, and there was no association of wizards by beliefs and morals. However, mages were beginning to show their usefulness and power, just as monks had done for as long as anyone could remember.

In this time, monks were the dominant protectors and power brokers of the world, with the EOS being the primary protectors and defenders, and the EON being the primary reason there was a need for the EOS. The EOT sought to keep balance between these two groups, and thus bring harmony to the world.

It was known for time immemorial that there would always be tension between the EOS and the EON, and that EOT would keep them from destroying one another. But one day, the Grand Master passed on, and the Time of Choosing was brought to bear amongst the three Eternal Orders once again. Each time a Grand Master passed on, each Order would have a contest to see who would be given the honor of competing to become the next Grand Master. Once each Order had a candidate, the Orders met in a secret location deep in the Desert of Wandering Souls to compete for the position of Grand Master.

In the EOS, the combat within the order for the right to compete for the position of Grand Master was always â??to the painâ?, meaning death had to be avoided at all reasonable costs. In the EOT, the contestants had to decide whether to fight to the pain or to the death each time they paired off. In the EON, the fighting was always to the death. For this reason, the EON tended to have fewer high ranking members.

However, combat for the position of Grand Master was always to the death amongst the three finalists, since holding the position was so important for the Order to whom the honor went. The last Grand Master had been of the Eternal Order of Twilight, but his successor was to be the candidate from the EON. When the dust settled, the yellow robed candidate and the red robed candidate lay dead. Only a black robed figure still stood.

This man's name is unrecorded, but it is known that he bore an unusual gift for a monk: he was brilliantly intelligent. This allowed him to excel where others in his order had failed, because he had other ways of approaching problems than others did. And when he became Grand Master, he set his goals for the EON in motion.

Instead of attacking the EOS, as had always been done in the past, he sent some of his best and most loyal followers to frame an entire town. They were to anger an adult dragon and make it appear that the town was responsible for the doing. At the same time, he sent an initiate to the EOS under the guise of being a poor boy from that town, with the news that there was a dragon attack imminent and the town needed protection. This was to distract the EOS while the real objective was accomplished.

The real objective was to destroy the ever meddling EOT. With them out of the way, the EOS would be facing not only an angry dragon, but the wrath of the EON at the same time. And so the EON employed a spy to bring about a division within the ranks of the EOT, and when they had begun to fight amongst themselves, the EON attacked so swiftly and in such a well planned and unexpected manner, disguising themselves in the colors of the EOT, that the EOT was wiped out except for a few initiates who swore their allegiance to the EON.

Stories/Quests / "The Beast" - Forest of Death
« on: April 28, 2005, 11:06:50 PM »
There are two guards that guard this chamber, for a beast is trapped within and it cannot be let out. The barrier is a pure magic seal, almost impossible to break through. Even better than adamantium. If somehow it breaks out, there are two trained, professional elite guards to bring it down. - "This... Beast... Destroyed a town with over a half of one thousand inhabitants. It devoured the townsfolk, destroyed the buildings, and obliterated all royal forces. The king, a black-magic wielding wizard, was the last known to be living to the creature. The king dodged the beast as best he could, although being badly wounded in the process of grabbing his spell book. One hand holding the spell book, and the other lightly skimming the writings within the book, he cast a spell... Chanting out unrecognizable words, which killed himself but in turn turned the creature into iron. While the spell was in effect, the last wizard-who used a spell to hide within the city-raised the iron beast with a levitation spell and slowly dragged him to this chamber. That wizard sealed this vault with a barrier spell, summoned us, and died shortly after. We are stuck here, forced to obey our summoner's whim until the day we die. The spirits here were lured by the beast's newfound ability to charm the spirits of the dead. He lured them here, and uses their energy to increase his own."

(One of the guards is telling the story)

GodSpire Server Vault / FAQ
« on: April 24, 2005, 07:09:28 AM »
Q:What is the GodSpire Server Vault?
A:The GodSpire Server Vault is a project that myself and a few others have spent a lot of our free time to work on. It's an RP module that is not based on anything; we are pretty much making everything up as we go along. The GodSpire Server Vault will contain many fun things such as Quests and Monsters to slay for experience. Most RP servers contain Quests and Monsters to slay for experience but the GodSpire Server Vault is different, our quests will have a more abstract way of life, itâ??s not just â??Kill this, get this and bring it to me for a rewardâ? itâ??s more like â??In the north lies a land where time and space is warped. It is a place of horrid mutations and death, where winds blow across a desolate and sandy landscape. You and your party have to journey to fight to favor your godâ?
Q:Will this be connected to the GodSpire PvP server in any way?
A:Yes, after a long discussion Mo and I have decided that the GodSpire Server Vault will use the same Database as the GodSpire PvP Server.
Q:Is the server up right now, is it accessible?
A:I will put the server up every Monday so everyone can see how much we are getting done. You can access the server by direct connecting to 24.30.151.47 or MangaVault.com. We do not have all of the areas connected, only what is branching off of the Good Town. A lot of things will not be intact because we are currently testing as well as making the mod. You may possibly encounter NPCs that are named "Module Reloader" or â??Fat Dwarfâ? if so, please do not start a conversation with them and/or attack them, thanks!
Q:When will the server be completed?
A:We do not know, we only have a few members in the staff so it may take a long time.
Q:Do we need more staff members for more staff members to help make the module? If so, what do we get out of it? Also, what type of staff are you looking for?
A:The more help the merrier. What do you get out of it? Well, Iâ??ll tell you! Once the mod is complete youâ??ll say â??Wow, I canâ??t believe I contributed to help make this great module, the GodSpire Server Vaultâ? We are looking for people who have a great imagination in writing stories as well as great in the toolset, either scripting or area designing.
Q:Who has helped and is still helping with this project so far?
A:We have several people currently helping with this project, and they are: 420, Mo, Celestial1, Celoras, RexFelis1 and myself. (If I forgot your name, which I probably did not, send me a PM!)

If you are interested in joining the staff please contact me:
