Guild Wars > Guild Wars General
just some questions
bus driver:
1. Im on a 56k ...can i still have a enjoyable time.
2. Do they patch the game while you play and if so will it cause lag (for me).
3. Can you learn all the skills/whatver there called for your class throughout a period of time.
more to come
Throbblefoot:
1. I don't know, but the requirements on the pre-order box say "An Internet Connection" so they don't sound too picky. Might take an hour or two to download the each new area, though.
2. I don't think so. They patch areas as you load them by replacing files. The updates don't occur while you're adventuring.
3. Yes, but you only get to choose 8 skills for any mission or wilderness exploration area.

Professor Toki:
1. "Yes you will. We are well aware that many users do not have broadband access, and we want the largest possible number of gamers to be able to join our game without being held back by technical issues like their internet connection. We have designed Guild Wars to function excellently on a dial-up connection and our testers have confirmed that they have no problems with their connection, even testing from other continents. In addition, during our E3 for Everyone Demo Event, our World Preview Event and our Beta Weekend Event, many thousands of players successfully played using a dial-up modem." - www.guildwars.com -
2. Yes, they use dynamic patching techniques in-game. There should be no lag during gameplay as it is often done during transitional events, such as, area transitions.
3. There are a wide variety of skills and although it is possible to learn all of these skills for your given class mix, considering that any and all games have their limitations, it would require a great deal of gameplay and in depth analysis.

Speaking of GW questions,i have some :
1. Is there a way that i can obtain the acces key and not preordering?
2.Is GW based on D&D rules?
3.After i read the faq and the synopsis on guildwars.com,i just dont understand one thing.Could somebody explain to me the guild sistem (war between guilds, maybe alliances
or such)?
4.How do those who are outside the United States and Canada participate in the Beta Weekend Events?
Thnx
Anheg:
1. Someone could give you their friend pass key, otherwise no
2. Guild Wars has nothing to do with D&D
3.I was recruited into a fairly new guild. I dont know if i will stay in it considering i know none of them at all. It was a nice window on the right screan containing member lists, last active times, W-L record, Ladder Ranking, and stuff like that. Im sure you could, but that is more a question for Toki.
4. www. stands for world wide web. They simple need a pass key and the internet and can access it as easily as me and you.
