So, only 3 1/2 more months till the next National Novel Writing Month! Are you going to do it? I'm going to do it! 50,000 words in 30 days? Yeah no problem! Why last year I got uhm.. okay 7,000 words but I tried man!! So really, who is going for it? I am going to at least try to beat my LY. So go on to http://www.nanowrimo.org/
and check it out. You can see a bit of my work from last year if you do an author search with my name here if you like too. Also for those of you who are interested in participating, I will refresh this topic each month until go time in case you forget.

Think about these numbers:
50,000 words in 30 days in 1,666 words a day.
1,666 words is about 2 pages of 10 point Times New Roman single spaced pages - without headers or other fancy formatting.

So, who thinks they can stomach 2 pages a day for 30 days? November isn't a great month for this for me, but I'm sincerely thinking about it.

Its a bit like havnig a little pride to say you participate and thus are doing your part to support the writing community, getting a hell of a lot of snootiness if you actually finish, and also to prove to your writing friends that you're not chicken shit.

Every time I try to write a book it just ends up being about Hellgate: London for some odd reason.

Damn, give us some heads up before it starts! My instructor is in China for the next two weeks so I have some extra time to work on something like this.

Can you give us a link to your story?

I won't steal any of it, my story is going to be completely different. It will be about space pirates! Robotic Arrr!!!

*snorts* nice 420.  I was actually just about to come alert the general public (i.e. you guys), but I see Cuch has beaten me to it.

His Author Page is here, and mine is here, so you can check out his excerpt.  I've gotten 1751 words done so far (hardly the pace I had hoped for, but oh well), but that's a hand count because it's all longhand at the moment.  As soon as I've transcribed it and gotten a more accurate count I'll put a sample on my page.

One of my friends has already broken 20,000 which astounds me...of course she's only a freshman and has considerably more time than I do. :(

edit: I've updated mine to include a synopsis and excerpt if you're interested.  The formatting of the excerpt bugs me though because I prefer indentations to lots of line breaks.

Thanks for the link Elessar. Ive got quite a bit more  than i posted in longhand too, but I don't count that unless i have leftover near the end that i didnt get a chance to type. You friend hitting 20,000 already is impressive. If i break that much I'll be happy.

So once more. I'm giving it another whirl this year but with a more realistic goal in mind. Anyone else?

Ahhh, this post rises form the dead!!!

NaNoWriMo 2013 is 6 days along now. I've started it yet again, hoping this time I might just finish. Ive gotten progressively closer over the years but never all the way. Currently I am at 7200 words, that's 2800 below par. The good news is I am currently averaging near 2000 words per day so if I can keep that up then I should do... better than last time anyway.  It's still early in the run so there is time to get caught up if anyone is trying to go for it. Good luck if you do and let us know.

Here's a link to see what I've got going.
