I propose a tournament, to end all tournaments. Blood, sweat, and merriment to be had!



What does everyone think about having a Level 20 and Level 40 tournament? It would give us a reason to play NWN. We can all reminisce about times of old, and have a good time playing a great game? Winner gets a cool, shiney new LM title. And maybe something neat on Throbbleserv if 420 feels generous.

LVL 20 :

Melee - Only melee based fighters. Buffing through spells is allowed.
Caster - Only casters. No melee allowed, unless through summons.
Overall - Casters and Melee allowed.

Champions -

This one will be difficult, but we could attempt it for fun. Party vs. Party duels.

In all  honestly, this is all I really want anyway. I just felt like it gives us a fun reason to play/reinstall NWN and start building some new characters. Maybe Mo could send out a mass email via the forums to let everyone know what is up. Some people may respond, or no one will. But who knows!

I've recently been playing the Blackguard series mods. Which are coolbeans, third time playing them. Irrelevant, yes, but great!

Ya I played NWN2 and it's expansions.  Once Obsidian fixed all the bugs it turned out to be a very good single player campaign.  We dont' hear from Talon too often but I feel he comes by this way every now and then.

My NWN server, Smith Hold, is always up (except for about 8 hours each night when I shut it down to sleep). Despite how it may appear, Throbble and I are still working on the 9th and final Purple Dragon quest. (Took a little break for Brink, Deus Ex 3, Saints Row 3, and Diablo 3).

I haven't reinstalled NWN2 since I tried running a NWN2 server with horrible results (at one point the walkmesh simply stopped compiling). The original single player campaign for NWN2 was pretty fun, though I lost most of my dragon horde to highwaymen when I brought it back to my stronghold. I have both the MotB and SoZ expansions but I never got around to installing/playing them.

  Nice I'm thinking of re-installing either nwn 1 or 2. I played 2 for a bit on divinity's server when it was just released but the game mechanics felt clunky compared to 1. I guess I'll re-install 1 for shits and giggles, there is nothing quite like the player custom content of nwn 1...

     I might still even have some old mods around such as Toki's Temple of Seasons, jays pvp, old aesica pb server etc. What is the latest as far as filters go any recommendations/ links? Does Dragonsong's leto program still work?

     Some of my fondest memories are dueling against busdriver in the old godspire server...good times.

Well if you haven't played since an older patch version, there's new classes, placeables, rideable mounts, etc. Were you still around when cloaks were made visible? Leto still works, hunt it down in the vault.

Duels are still possible outside of GS at Smith Hold. Sometimes we go there and duel, it's been awhile though, for me at anyrate.

As for your previous inquiry about guilds, I still consider the Marauders to be "alive" as our members are still present at LM and sometimes return for a duel at Smith Hold. I am uncertain what the other clans or guilds would say for themselves, but I can't think of any Doriath members offhand that are still active. A couple pop their heads in here once and awhile. Elessar is still present, so you could say there is some remnant of Divine Exaltation remaining, but he more or less disbanded it so you can just call it dead. Shade never really returned to say anything about it, as far as I can recall. As for the Antediluvians... *sigh* Everything else was pretty much "shut down" before the end. Either that or it was one of those little 'side guild' things nobody "truly" cares/cared about.

I concur with you about the fond memories. I recall during the "dying" period making a Lineage 2 server with Nathan, I can recall a few GS people being present, apart from us. Offhand I can think of Shade and Elessar. HeLLSpY too, but nobody really knew him but me, I guess. I specifically remember someone stealing Elessar's name. God that was funny. Oh and Nathan getting bitched at by Invision Power Services for using an unlicensed version of IP.Board illegally. Ah, good times. I cringe any time I see MMORPG's now. lol By that I mean the typical ones, in no way have I ever considered NWN to be an MMORPG although some may claim it can be classified that way, it's so much more than that.

I think everyone misses GS, even the troublemakers and banned people. Even CM. LOL

     Does anyone know if the Aurora toolset is still not compatible with Mac? Also as far as the item/character checker filter is there anything more recent than what's found in Vault? (Toki's / Moo's) which are very dated....

   Waiting to receive my windows 7 to Bootcamp switch my Mac over to windows setting in order to re-install NWN1. Trying to convince some other old school players to come back.

If you're looking for something like what GS had, 420 might be able to help you. Otherwise you will have to make one, as you're not going to find a good one anywhere other than here. So far as I know, anyway.

I never had any experience with Mac, so I don't know. Sorry.

All the content from the "Premium Content" mods were added in patches. Just make sure you are running the last official version, 1.69.

Kingmaker, along with other premium modules, are just that, modules; not expansions. They're not required to join local vault servers. However, being up to date with the latest patch, as 420 mentioned, is very necessary. All of the new content is attainable through the newest patches except for CEP stuff, of course.

RP's largely dominate NWN now, there's not a whole lot of PVP options around any longer.
